Why Whitewater Kayaking in Leavenworth is So Good!

Whitewater Kayaking in Leavenworth, Washington with Marco Corella and Isaac Hull on Icicle River and Wenatchee River in Tumwater Canyon.
Spring flow had the rivers raging so I hit Highway 2 and drove over Stevens Pass for a day of filmmaking in the mountains. Of all the extreme sports I’ve captured over the years, this has to be one of the most exciting… whether it’s drone, tripod, or handheld filming, all my camera gear and settings need to be dialed and ready when they paddle by… and even then, it’s easy to miss the action with the unknown directions a river might take em. Planning aerial patterns is nearly impossible and and getting proper exposure on a raging river can always be a challenge.
Here’s an edit of the good, bad, and the ugly shots created to tell this story. Recap shots are just me sitting on my garage floor unpacking while the experience was still fresh on my mind. Captured with Panasonic S5ii and DJI Air 2s.

We used to do our swift water rescue training there on the Wenatchee, USAF Survival Medic. We stayed in the tame stuff hehehehe there is some stuff there that does not look survivable.
