The fact is that they think Lara Croft's body is sexualized because they understand that she's attractive and they have sexual feelings upon viewing. The fat chick isn't "sexualized" because they understand that she's unattractive and they don't have to deal with their own feelings. That's why the asymmetry exists, which should make everyone extremely aware of the reality of the situation.

3:05 “It’s a soap commercial dog” I hate when people say things like this in an argument. Instead of stating a counter argument or claim, he tries to invalidate your argument because of what it’s about. You can say the same thing about him. “It’s just a KZbin video dog” it’s not about the commercial. It’s about what it represents and the message it’s giving. “It’s just a commercial” is a tactic people use when they know they’re wrong but don’t want to admit it

Just because you're not directly affected by something doesn't mean your opinion is invalid. Just because you weren't directly affected by World War II or the Holocaust doesn't mean you aren't allowed to have an opinion about it. Just because you don't use Dove doesn't mean your opinion of it should be shut down, or else Noah shouldn't be talking about it either.

To be fair, I have seen a little more facial and physical diversity in male characters than females. Girls seem to always have that nice hourglass shape and big rack, whereas guys can either be skinny, buff, slightly fluffy with muscle, etc. But that’s probably b/c the video game artists are often men, and they want the main girl characters to look really attractive, so it makes sense.

You know what helped me to lose over 120 pounds??? My parents and my girlfriend telling me that ive gotten fat and unhealthy... Cause ive looked in the mirror afterwards and my delusion broke and ive realized that yes, im indeed fat. Than i did sports, changed my easting habits and lost weight. You know what doesnt help fat people? Telling them its ok to be fat. Theyre sexy and healthy. Cause from my own experience, you need to shatter the delusion that every fat person has, that safety barrier that shields them from everything the doctors and other people tell them. You need to make them see themselves as they really are, fat and unhealthy... Because youre not going to change them, they have to change themselves and they need to want it and see their mistakes... And that only works if they are not in their deluded mindset that everything is fine and all critics are just fatphobics...

As someone who lost 130lb, you are right. We are delusional to some extent to make ourselves feel better. I knew I was big but I wouldn’t acknowledge it unless I looked in the mirror. Even my husband enabled my body dysmorphia. The scale is what broke the delusion
@nitro8529

@@CaptainCaterpillars Depends on how far you are in your delusion. I was like "200 ponds, thats not that bad..." half a year later i was like "nah 300 pounds is still not that bad" and so on... I was doing MMA and weightlifting when i was young, so i remembered how i looked with a sixpack and bulky arms, what i saw in the mirror was a fat blob, but that still didnt get me out of my delusion. You really need your friends and family to do a kind of "intervention" talk with you. When i had that, than i started to look in the mirror and see me how i was, without my delusion protecting me... Right the next day i started eating half of what i became used to, started doing sports again and cut all sugar from my diet. Within a little under a year i lost a lot of weight, to the point i was looking almost skinny... But i also didnt feel healthy when i was at my recommended weight, for my rather small size, so i gained about 80 pounds of muscles within another 6 months. Now i sit comfortably between being skinny and being a bodybuilder. I just look bulky and strong, and thats also how i feel, i feel right with how i am now.

The funniest part is the mental gymnastics they engage in when confronted by someone with far more formal education in a relevant field telling them they’re wrong. (Which I’d only mention when they’re pulling that nonsense.) Can’t tell you how many have tried to claim their BA in sociology somehow outranks two Masters + a decade of clinical experience. 🤦🏾‍♀️ ETA- the most common cope is “nuh uh, you’re lying about your education!” Which tends to suggest they misrepresent their own credentials (denial -> projection being their favorite defense mechanisms).

Regarding representation, there was a (woke) article from DiGRA 2011 which was entitled "He could be a bunny rabbit for all I care”: Exploring identification in digital games". It was a study into how having characters that looked the player correlated with identification of the player with said character. Turns out, representation had very little to do with how players percived how well they identified with the character or why they would choose a character. As a personal anecdote: one of the best games where I identified as the character was Stray, where you play a cat.

I have to disagree, bullying works, shaming someone into the norm works, however, who dictates the norm here is what matters most, and if it's a woke, we get the things TBYS makes videos about, those things in return perpetuate an unhealthy (literally and figuratively) state for a society, so yeah, we should shame them and encourage them to change but for the better of themselves and their surroundings, if they rather not change, their surroundings will still be affected for the worst extending the current decay Even if it sounds cruel, the world doesn't need more empathy or pity, it needs discipline and responsibility, coincidentally leftists yearn for the first and abhor the second

Samsen and his statement about Lara Croft is such a double edge sword. "Does he thinks a character has to be but naked and doing the splits in order to be sexualized?" Ok, are you suggesting that Lara which in the picture is using an outfit that a lot of women I have seen wear in public is sexualized? So are real women sexualizing themselves? Can we call them out? Or why is it that some can get shamed while others don't? Even the fat girl in the dove comercial is using tiny shorts and a tank top like Lara, is it ok for her to be sexualized?

Normies really like to parrot this around because it appeals to the selfish egotistical nature of people these days, If it doesn't affect me, why should I care, without realising that it WILL affect them, it's only a matter of time If they let this to continue, it also reminds me of peoples mentality when you stand up to a bully, for doing this you get treated worse than the bully, and he just continues to do his thing, nobody cares about the deeds If they are done for no reason, but If they are done as a reaction to something, all of a sudden everyone cares and you're the bad guy for reacting, not thinking about why it is you care in the first place

He actually didn't say that. He said it was better for their self-esteem and got them to "eat better" whatever that means. One of the studies suggested that better eating was going from eating 1 meal a day to 4-5 meals a day. This isn't really a good metric because I would much rather have an obese person eat one 2000 Calorie meal a day than 4-5 1000 Calorie meals. I had a hard time finding what the studies' definitions were for healthier eating. Others said like, "The people ate fruit more." They were super vague.
@rabbox4513
@rabbox4513 11 ай бұрын
@@ThinkBeforeYouSleepYT Yeah but getting people to "eat better" logically results in them attaining a healthy weight. Meaning (if overweight) losing weight. Not to mention he talked about it and posed this "argument" in direct opposition to the concept that "fat representation keeps people fat". Those 2 things does make him say that "fat acceptance makes people loose weight" once the context of what he is saying and why he is saying it is taken into account. So yeah, mental gymnastics of the highest order.

But thats not even unconscious bias...when you read only the abstract, youre not actually reading the study....is dishonest. His art was revolutionary, with so much meaning behind such masterfully crafted pieces. Everyone started acclaiming him more and more, praising his skill. Just one critic, probably fed up with the nonsense art was becoming at the time, had the courage to come out with this quote: "It looks so bad only a monkey could have made this". "fatness is out of people's control" is such a big lie. As long as your caloric intake is equal to or lower than your caloric output, you would be maintaining/ loosing weight. While certain health conditions lower your metabolic rate, making it harder to eat at a caloric deficit, it is not impossible, hence saying that it is out of their control is a lie. They are just not willing to put in the effort to change their diet to fit their body's needs and requirements.

You make it sound so simple but it's not. Your metabolic rate isn't fixed, in fact the more you try to lose weight, the more your body will fight you. It will go in panic mode and lower your metabolic rate and the moment you stop dieting or reintroduce some carbs into your diet or screw up one day, etc. your body will store that shit in fat cells like your life depended on it (which it used back in hunter-gatherer times). Then of course you have to exercise to increase your metabolic rate. Constantly, otherwise it doesn't really work. Also sleep 7-8 hours a day in a relatively decent schedule. Or you won't burn fat. But this is just skimming the surface. What do you eat? Clearly stuff with sugar (deserts, soft drinks) are off the table. Ok fine, but what about ordering normal portions like you would in a restaurant? Nope, turns out that's too much carbs. Gotta cut down on those, right? Might help if you fast intermittently as well. But now you're hungry. Should you just push through or eat something? You can push through a bit but then you get even hungrier and eventually might end up consuming even more calories than you would have eating normally. (BTW, have you ever felt so hungry you considered biting into someone's face? I have) Then there are adjacent problems like time and lack of variation of food. I could learn to cook for myself but that would consume huge amounts of time and I'm already supposed to sleep more than I feel I need to and exercise which I don't want to. Otherwise, the choices I have are quite limited. How many days in a row can you go eating grilled chicken breast or legs? Oh and if you think you can diet hard for a few months and then stop, you're deluded. That works if you just want to take off 20 pounds and exercise your ass off afterwards. Otherwise, you will yo-yo back up at 10 times the speed you lost weight.

That hairstyle and mustache is the same concept … he’s trying way too hard to follow a hipster style that several other KZbinrs are trying to emulate (Kurtis, for example), but forgets that you need a certain style and appearance to pull it off well unless you want to look like …. a predator - that strange “uncle” in the 80s caricature to a T. The latter being all people sees when they look at him and nothing else. No matter how much people want to push “wear whatever you want, style yourself however you wish”, they often forget that people are also free to judge you over those choices and give their opinion. That’s never going to change lol. It’s just not other peoples’ fault their minds go straight for “yikes, predator” when seeing him because that’s all he can pull off with that style.
