Betta fish are marketed from breeders usually aged 3-3.5 months, you ask the shop owner or those who sell betta fish both online and offline when you buy "how long have they taken from the breeder" then you just have to count the continuation of their age.

1.5 years old is still good to be used as broodstock. I have been breeding 2 year old betta fish, they have a lot of puppies, it's just that if they are too old the energy to squeeze eggs from the female's stomach is not as strong as when they were young. The best is the age of 6-8 months, for genes are also good even though they are old, the problem is the strength to mate and incubate eggs and care for the fry

U 100% right i bred him last month he got 400 pups when i was count after 1 month of age.my doubt was genetics because i saw lot of bettas died after disabled(cant straight) there tail.they cant carry there back .that point i fear to breed that betta strain.if you can reply this to im really appreciate 😊

the important point is to let the betta fish be hungry and give it just a few pellets, if it doesn't eat it, take the pellets and do it again tomorrow with the same pellets

It has almost been 1.5 years since I've got my Betta...it was doing quite well until it stopped eating. He has not eaten anything for 3/4 days. yea it takes time. i recommend you to feed him/her at the same spot. so it can memorize where the food comes. and try to use lower water volume or minimalize the reflection in the soliter. best of luck 👍

if you don't feed for 2-3 days you still don't want to eat, don't give it again for 5 days, after that give 1-2 pellets right in front of him
