"I will always choose you," is one of the most iconic delena scenes of all time. the truth will always be that damon will save her life no matter what the cost. the lengths he will go to protect the woman he loves is admirable. damon was so smart to come up with the plan to make Klaus think Bonnie "died." damon is the true hero and mvp of this episode.

She definitely pulled out the dagger because of what Damon said to her, implying that he really doesn't care who he will have to sacrifice to keep her safe. Which I think is pretty clear is the last thing she wants. And after living through what she thought was her best friend's death, she goes to the person that she knows has the highest chance of killing Klaus and probably wouldn't fight as much to keep her alive. I think a lot of people also forget that it really isn't that long since her parents died and she definitely still has some survivor's guilt, so I think at least in the first seasons most of her decisions really make sense at least for her, no matter how people find them annoying.

Unlike Stefan who had a friend (lexi) and spent over a century since he was turned, coming to terms with his humanity, learning to allow himself feel his emotions and therefore feel human allowing him to respect human life more, Damon spent over a century since he became a vampire basically as the complete opposite not only suppressing and turning off his heightened emotions that are supposed to connect him to his humanity, but he was also doing things that he believed vampires and therefore monsters should do because he wasn't human and he was doing it alone. the people he eventually met along the way, were people who taught him how to feed and kill even more. so when he comes into mystic falls being who he has been for decades and who he is now ( a monster), and Elena, a human, who has every right to hate him after all he's done to her and her friends, not only sees good and humanity in him that he himself and everyone else he's met up until that point believes doesn't exist inside him anymore but she also acknowledges his pain he tries to hide despite what he's done, its not a surprise that he falls in love with her AT ALL. even if she doesn't feel the same way. now you can say that the writers could have given that aspect to bonnie so that it is bonnie that he falls in love with and ill agree with you. i think ian and kat have so much chemistry same with he and nina and I think if bamon was a major ship it would have changed the entire dynamic of the show.

Bonnie has the power of 100 witches but she still has a mortal body, meaning all that power has to be too much. That’s why I always assumed she started bleeding when she went too heavy on the magic. I think she strengthens over time and practice, but there still has to be some kind of balance to the power she can and cannot have.

A normal vamp can't compel anyone who is supernatural, so Klaus wouldn't be able to compel Bonnie. Yes, Elena is supernatural, but she is still human, so the Gilbert ring won't work on her. However, as you've seen with Elijah and Damon, she can be compelled. Also, no, an Original vamp can't compel Stefan or Damon if they have vervain in their system. Katherine was an exception because she was taken, and it only takes 24 hr for it to leave your system, same with vampire blood.

Oh yeah...and don't take my word for it cuz I never read the books...apparently Bonnie and Damon date for a while, in the books. So, it's funny to me when (I forget who it was) said, "Oh I like them" Or whatever was said about Bonnie and Damon, because they were a coulp in the books. The books and the show are completely different things! Although-and I'm totally going to hate so hard on this-I'm kind of all here for Damon and Bonnie to be more than friends. Don't get me wrong; I love their friendship (you will see in S6). But I stand by my opinion, and you'll see why in S6-S8.

they were romantic in the books and it was implied she was damon's soulmate despite him being coupled up with elena at the end (in books). same in the show, because the only motivation we really saw for damon loving elena was a) she looked like katherine b) she was stefans love. it seemed more like an obsession and lust whereas he grew to love who bonnie was as a person and how she inspired him to want to be better for himself.
