That's why the Durant contract in NJ is one of the most absurd decisions in NBA history, the Nets basically paid 100+ million dollars to a retired player.

@@dwightjay5160 COVID or not, injury or not, Westbrook performed the way he has always performed in the playoffs, and especially in elimination games, shooting with very poor efficiency. Sure, this playoffs he averaged 17 PPG, which is lower than usual, but he also actually ended up being more efficient overall than usual from taking less shots, as he shot 42% (still terrible) in the 8 games he played, better than his 36% last year, 39.8% the year before, 38.8% the year before that. If he shot more like usual, he would've just been even less efficient as usual, and would've continued to hurt his team, especially in the elimination game, where again, he's historically been very high volume with low efficiency. Teams wouldn't mind if he had the highest playoff career scoring average of all time with that level of inefficiency, they would love that. It's just simple percentages. The opposing team wants you to take and make shots at a low percentage. Westbrook takes a lot of his team's shots and make them at a low percentage in the playoffs, and especially in elimination games. That's what they want. Therefore, the more he's taking shots and getting those points at a low rate of efficiency, the more opposing teams are gonna like it. They would be absolutely thrilled to have him be the player with the all time highest PPG while shooting 40%. The thing is, when these teams play against Westbrook in the playoffs, they don't have to just depend on their defense, they can depend on him frequently getting out of control and turning the ball over frequently, low IQ decisions during crucial moments, volume shooting with awful efficiency (40% or worse in half his playoff games), and his overall recklessness and inconsistencies. Let's also talk about his elimination games in the playoffs. Sure, he took less shots than usual in the elimination game against the Lakers, but it was basically another typical Westbrook elimination game, going 4-13. How about that 11-31 performance last year, making the low IQ decision of taking the vast majority of the shots despite Paul George being on fire shooting 70%? Or how about that 18-43 the year before? Or the 15-34 the year before that, or the 7-21 the year before that? The other teams loved him taking the majority of shots shooting such low percentages, they wouldn't mind him scoring 100 points with him shooting at such poor percentages. He actually made a smart decision taking just 13 shots this time, he was about to go 8-26 like usual had he taken so many shots like he usually does.

I like the concept of Russ playing with a better Catch and Shoot in Bradly Beal because Harden couldn’t catch and shoot for nothingggg against the Lakers. However, I still remember Russ telling the Lakers “they better double me” while being down 20+ in the second half... Outside of trading Russ for to the Magic for Fournier and Aaron Gordon, This is the best trade I could think of that works out well for both teams and the players involved. We'll see how it all plays out, but Bradley Beal might be the biggest loser of the trade.

@Judah I love Wall, he's my all time favorite player, but Westbrook is/was just a better version of him (besides for his defense) before the injury. Now we are expecting an athletic player like Wall to come back from an Achilles injury 2 years later to be a better fit for the Rockets? The direction the Rockets are going isn't exactly clear but it does seem like it doesn't have James Harden at the destination. The culture is completely different now: no more Morrey, no more D'Antoni, no more of his system, and now even his best friend Westbrook is gone. On top of that, the West got better while the Rockets have arguably stayed stagnant. *They are not making it out the West*, so I don't know how you could think that the Rockets have done anything to convince Harden to stay. It would be better for the Rockets to trade Harden so that they can get assets for him rather than let him walk for nothing in free agency next summer.

The reason they got wall is because no one would trade for westbrook as seasons pass. Remember, westbrook is 32 with a hefty salary for the 3 remaining years of his contract. With the wall trade, they had a 1st round pick plus they can wish for a hail mary that wall would be back in form and make other teams drool for him. Both wall and cousins acquisition would atleast makes the rockets watchable whike preparing for 2023. I wont be suprised if harden would be traded befire the trade deadline
