I feel so fortunate in that my district sent me to a week long conference on the 6 Traits of Writing that began my love of teaching writing to students. I became a writing specialist, using the language of 6 Traits and saw my students scores SOAR because of the common language and explicit instruction. My district focused on writing and used PD to train our teachers. I taught for 27 years in the district ( I retired 3 years ago) and I loved incorporating other sources for writing instruction. There is no one way and I think your writing bridge will be a helpful tool in teacher's toolbox.
