Greg doucette never said no one should bulk. He’s just against getting fat while bulking. Ofc u should bulk when ur skinny, Greg hase literally said that a 100 times over. He preaches to build muscle from a healthy weight. For a guy that’s around 15% bf if u really wanna bulk get to that 15% or a bit higher and ull be fine. U don’t need a 500 calorie surplus every day to build muscle. He preaches to maingain from a healthy weight. Not from single digit bodyfat, not from being overweight. Literally common sense.

Come on!!!!!!!!!! Im gonna call him HARMZA from now on! Because his content is very harmful because of his ignorance! He is an uneducated individual giving horrible advice to other ignorant uneducated kids! HE is the one SCAMMING VULNERABLE MEN and BOYS! The only ones that will stick with him towards the future will be the bad batch of his followers. The intelligent ones will eventually figure how inaccurate is the majority of his fitness and nutrition advice (also other areas). Imagine saying that BODY RECOMPOSITION is a scam! HAHAHAHAHA he is out of his little mind! If you're at 15% or more body fat, the best way is for you to do a body recomposition (minor caloric deficit + 1g protein per lb of bodyweight + progressive overload). If you're very fat, you will lose weight (will lose fat at faster rate than gaining muscle). If you're closer to the 15% body fat mark, you will stay at the same weight (will lose fat at same rate than gaining muscle) or even gain weight if your muscle building offsets the amount of fat you lose ( if this happens you are probably eating at maintenance, but can really happen in caloric deficit). If you're at between single digit body fat percentage and approximately 12 or 13 percent, and you're no longer being able to build muscle and you feel like trash when working out, it's time to eat more. Eating at maintainance or even a lean bulk should be fine. But the reality is that the bulking and cutting cycles are unnecessary and detrimental to health. Even advanced athletes can achieve body recomposition. And if you're at too low body fat and your body hasn't reached your full genetic potential, eating at maintenance will be great for building muscle because truth is that calories do not build muscles! Mechanical tension is the major factor for muscle building! So progressive overloading basically (requiring your muscles to handle heavier loads and executing the exercises with proper form and range of motion). He has a lot to learn kid! He is at no position of being in a leadership role. He should be the one following someone that possess the proper knowledge and the capability of critically thinking and properly comprehending the possessed knowledge…

on one hand you say you wasted years listening to fitness youtubers that you should not bulk and only maingain. on the other hand you say you dont listen to fitness youtubers and dont know who anyone is. so... which is it? whats the truth? 1. Greg does not say never bulk. he says if you want to gain size and weight, slowly raise your calories maybe 200 or so above maintenance at a time and dont dirty bulk or go crazy with it. 2. it is calories in calories out, get your protein and your calories. dont worry so much about macros. Just take a look at the hodgetwins, those dudes ate fast food junk for over 5 years, but they got their daily required protein and stayed within their daily calorie goals, worked out hard and got amazing results. over 5 years of videos of them eating junk, all documented on youtube for anyone to see and they look amazing. not saying junk food is the way to go, but its proof calories in calories out is legit.

1 - Focus on BULKING. DON'T focus on cutting (eating for a caloric deficit), but instead, aim for a slight caloric surplus. 2 - Believing all calories are the same. A 300-calorie donut is NOT the same as 300-calorie potatoes. Don't eat shit food. 3 - You have low testosterone. Usually caused by eating sugary/shit foods. 4 - You are not training hard enough. Increase your INTENSITY. You may think your intensity is at 9/10 but it is probably at 6/10. Aim for 7-8 intensity for every workout. 5 - You aren't incorporating progressive overload. Aim for 10-15 reps in a set. Start with 10 reps and slowly increase the reps. When you can do 15 reps, increase the weight and go back to 10 reps. Repeat.
@ryank9073
@ryank9073 Жыл бұрын
Sorry Hamza, but I think you dropped the ball on this one. Greg Doucette (the YTer you mentioned) and most competent fitness influencers don't encourage people not to bulk at all. It's pretty much exclusively dependent on body fat percentage. Maingaining is meant for those who are already satisfied with their BF percentage. If you're at 25+% BF or a scrawny dude at like 8-10% BF, then yeah maingaining is probably not the way to go. Also, it is physiologically possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. The biggest factors are: -Size of the calorie deficit -Protein intake -BF percentage Essentially, synthesizing new muscle tissue requires protein, water, and a stimulus (your training). As long as those things are intact, it should be theoretically possible to build muscle. However, if you're in too large of a calorie deficit, your body may have to breakdown some muscle tissue and use it as energy for bodily functions. If you're in a small deficit (let's say around 300-600 calories below maintenance), this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Furthermore, body recomposition (losing fat & building muscle simultaneously) is generally more plausible for someone with high body fat percentages. This is because your body will want to break down your fat storage for energy before it starts using your muscle tissue. The more fat you have, the less likely you are to lose muscle from this. Lastly, intentionally eating higher amounts of protein will encourage more muscle-protein synthesis to combat the potential unwanted muscle loss during the deficit.

The lack of respect he had for Coach Greg without even watching his videos is out of pocket. On top of that, the amount of bro science in this video is palpable. For guys who are obese, it is possible to get muscle and be stronger. Muscle protein synthesis does not require you to eat over your maıntenance calories. You are stating what worked for you as something that everyone should do. When I started my journey I was 62 kilograms, now I am 78 with roughly the same amount of body fat percentage. Just because lean bulking or maintaining did not work for you does not mean it is useless. Stop it with the bro science.
@predator5686
@predator5686 Жыл бұрын
That's impossible. You have put on 16 kg of muscle mass according to you, which takes AT LEAST 2-3 years and building muscle without bulk can work just in the first year maybe. So you must have done a bulk and you must have put a little fat mass; the fact that you did it very cleanly doesn't mean you didn't have a caloric surplus...

For some people it's just really fucking hard to do a clean bulk (meaning no junk food), because they just have to eat so much that they will feel sick eating it all and for others not. For some people maingaining works good for others not. It really is just try out different diets, workouts and journal how your body changes and how you feel and adjust accordingly. Don't just listen to other youtubers, even Hamza. Take what they tell you and think for yourself what might be best for you.

This is amazing advice honestly. At the beginning of this year I was 17 & weighed around 55kg/121lbs & 178cm/5'10. I was insanely insecure on how I looked especially because I was ridiculed alot. I go out of a breakup with a girl I was with for 3 years that was far away & I was insanely depressed by it all. I began to go back into eating junk food & playing video games late into the night. This led to my first term at school being a hell because I just didn't have a good mindset at all. When the term ended, I discovered your channel Hamza & watching your videos, I gained a new sight on the world & went on a weight gain journey. I decided to make a grand change & started weightlifting with my dads 10kg/22lbs weight consistently & did some calisthenics on the side. I began being heavily inspired by your & other people like Joe Fazer & David Goggins' work ethic & idea of working out & while I may have fell off at times staying a stagnant weight sometimes, I always made sure to always pull through. Around now in December, i'm 18, 180cm/5'11 & 67kg/148lbs & even though I've gained over my aim which was 65kg, I wanna be way bigger though. I want to reach minimum 70kg by early January & be 75kg by the end February/early March. Videos like these which explain the weight gaining process make learning about gaining weight way more worth it & makes it less convoluted like other channels. In short, thank you Hamza for your assistance to me throughout this entire year getting me through my weight gaining journey. It's helped me get out my Jeffery ways of living before my eventual downfall. I want to achieve my dream body that I know I deserve. I want to achieve the dream mindset that I know I deserve. I want to become the best possible version of myself & the only reason I became that was because of you, Hamza.

Ok so here is how it works: Protien is a term for certain molecules that your body is like made out of. There are quite a few different ones, and understandably not everything you eat is going to have all of them. So just make sure you eat from a variety of different sources and you should be good, but if you really care look up to see what the composition of each food you eat is to make sure you get all the different proteins. That's kind of tedious though.

I am just glad someone called out these fake bluffers for their bullshit - wasting young peoples years (just like the magazines used to back in the day - with their pro programs for starters..............). @@LateNightChess Huh? I don't understand what this reply had to do with my reply. What I meant by my reply was that Coach Greg said, if you are overweight (and have a high body fat percentage), you can build muscle and lose fat at the same time. If you have single digit body fat percentage, of course you shouldn't try to maingain, it won't work (or like you said, it's a slow process). You should try to bulk. But there is no point in bulking if you are already overweight and have a high body fat percentage, you have already bulked. There is no need to bulk up any more. But yeah, your original statement was right if you were a lean person with low~average bodyweight.
@LateNightChess
@LateNightChess Жыл бұрын
@@Kcaedenn firstly, maingaining does not mean building muscle and losing fat at the same time…. Thats called body recomposition. Maingaining is building muscle and not adding fat by eating at maintenance calories. Which is what a lean bulk should be. But in reality a lean bulk is being on a minor calorie surplus in which you minimize fat gain but you still gain fat. Secondly my point was that weight is not important, what is important is your body fat percentage. Thirdly, in reality anyone can do a body recomp, but in order to do a body recomp you need to be in a minor caloric deficit which can feel horrible when tour body fat percentage is under 13% and you’re natty. But there is scientific evidence that even advanced trained athletes have achieved body recomposition at already low body fat percentages. In my opinion, the best way to go about it is to do a body recomp if you’re at 14- 15% or more body fat percentage. If you’re already at 13% or less you should maingain. Bulking is really never necessary, unless you’re at an unhealthy body fat percentage, which almost no one really is. My rule of thumb is. If you have a healthy balanced diet and you’re eating certain amounts per day and you feel horrible when training, after training and/or before training, eat more. And keep doing that until you find a caloric range in which you can feel good and train good.

turned 14 September, weighing in at just under 75lbs (yeah, I know) at 5'1. pretty small guy. intake about 1000 cals a day, training consistently for about 5-6 days a week for about a year. at the start of my journey, I weighed about 68lbs at 4'11. yes, there's some progress to be credited there, but the growth has been slowing and visually, i don't look much bigger anyways. I've tried lots of things. dirty bulk, clean bulk, both with a surplus of about 250-350 cals. yes I'm aware that these are crazy low numbers but it's just about the most I can manage. gaining any sort of bodyfat has been an extreme challenge but i've seen some progress with muscle. basically, just a skinny guy w/ abs (sorta). if you guys want to let me know anything at all in terms of advice or help, please do.

Mechanical tension is the major factor for muscle building! maingaining gives a considerable amount less muscle than a lean bulk(200-300cal surplus) followed by cutting over the long run and strength training is partially true it spreads your attention, and makes recovery so much harder so its simular muscle(about 10-15% less) but not as good for pure muscle

I make no other comments on your area of expertise. I do in fact agree with most, if not all of what you say! @@RussellClausse youre a decent guy! I respect you! Btw you can reach failure at lower rep ranges, you just need to load the muscle more. For example, i achieve hypertrophy and strength gains by doing only progressive bodyweight training. In order to master an exercise I first start doing it when Im only capable of doing 6 reps per set with proper form, proper breathing and proper pace. If i fail in either of those, I count it as failure. That way I respect my body and optimize my training at the same time. Then in order to master the exercise I make sure that I can execute 15 reps (max) per set. Then I move on to a more advanced exercise.

I know it's off topic but like how come lucid dreaming isn't a part of self improvement, it literally allows you to practice real life skills whilst your asleep which not only gives you more time to practice skill or certain aspects of life but since it's a dream theres literally no risk involved which mean it doesn't matter if you fuck up or not. This can be incredibly helpful, for example if you were trying to improve your social skills wouldnt it be much easier to implement techniques in a dream world were nothing matters rather than in real life or maybe your trying to learn a backflip or some shit and you don't want to risk injuries lucid dreams are the perfect place to practice the possibility are almost endless. Of course you want to also practice in real life also it's just that it's much easier learning a new skill or practicing one your not very good at riskfree.This is not some bullshit what you decide to practice in the dream world will directly correlate to real life. I truly think that lucid dreaming is worth learning and should be talked more about. And self improvement aside wouldn't just be cool to do whatever you desire whilst being fully in control of your dreams. Takes a few weeks or months to learn about a year to master but the return on investment is fucking massive.

Few things to add: -If you ever feel actual pain during a workout, you should stop. If you feel your muscles getting tired(feeling the 'burn') there's no reason to stop. -Do your reps very slowly, going extra slow when starting a rep and when changing rep direction. Do this well and not only will you not get injured, but your joints and tendons etc will become much stronger and last longer(apply this to your daily life for extra gains as well). Go as heavy as you can handle with your target reps. -Keep your muscles under tension during the entire rep range - don't have little rest moments(which includes not locking out limbs). -Don't have rest pauses between exercises(make sure you are not targeting the same muscles two exercises in a row). -Remember that the more difficult the exercise becomes, the more gains you can get from it - the closer you get to absolute failure, the more you are 'motivating' the muscle to adapt and thus grow.

But I’m seeing muscle build on and it’s so motivating but it takes time and remember to take recovery days because I see my muscles grow so much more when I give them a day break vs constantly going to the max and then having no energy for multiple sets. So rest and eat a shit ton of quality food not McDonald’s. My chest is already defining and bulging out more and my arms are overall thicker so keep grinding.

with regard to mistake #2, you're absolutely correct that trying to hit your carb numbers with ice cream isn't going to be the same as hitting carb numbers with potatoes, but that's because ice cream has a shitload of fat. Technically if you have fat allowance in your macro budget there really isn't anything wrong with eating ice cream or burgers. The issue is that people focus on the protein and forget to budget for their fat allowance as well. All else being equal, a 1 gram of protein is the same regardless of source. It's just that usually all things AREN'T equal lol

I'm currently sitting at 6'1 height and 190 lbs, exactly like Hamza actually. At this point I'm not sure if getting bigger is the way to go now. I kind of find it weird to think about the idea of never training for progressive overload again, and instead just focus on maintaining, and maybe just train the muscle groups that would make me look better a bit more. This realization hit me hard, because I always thought I was way behind Hamza and other fitness influencers, but looking at the numbers, im actuallyu ahead of some of them. Does anyone have an idea, how I should proceed in my training, or maybe have some tips. It would be appreciated. I'm 20 years old btw. Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm an ectomorph (hardgainer) and so naturally have a low bf%, getting more lean is not my goal, maybe the exact opposite lmao, idk.
