I often think of Web Designers as an online mechanic. Most people are fearful of going to a mechanic because they fear getting ripped-off. Except mechanics aren't as bad because they don't spam you like Web Designers do. Looking forward to what you have to share about building credibility.

This video shows it from the potential buyer point of view, always great to know and understand how this process works in reality. Not just assumptions in your head, when you are starting/stuck as a web designer :) Great stuff on point, thank you, Rob!

The trust aspect is the most important. I've been offered SEO & web design services through email countless times for my website, but they are always blank emails with no links to any further information or trust factors, so I don't even bother to look at them. Good stuff Fox!

Hey Omar, Thanks for letting us know! Your comment is truly insightful and I'm thankful that you shared your side(receiving the emails). I'm just starting out and I was wondering. Is it best to include our portfolio in our initial emails/reachout? A lot of youtube videos, I have seen doesn't really talk about this.

Hey Rob, thanks for the great video. You inspired me to start a web design business back in April, and for May and June I made around $2000 a month which was good for starting. July and this month I've been barely scraping by $1000 a month because I've run out of people in my social network that need me (and therefore trust me because they know me). How do I deliver results from web design alone? A lot of these businesses aren't getting any traffic before hand and while I deliver a good product, I'm not an SEO/AdWords guy (and I make it clear upfront that I'm not). So I deliver on web design, but the site still doesn't get traffic. Do you always do active SEO work to drive traffic to the site? Should I be doing that? How can I show results outside of before/after web design pics? Sorry for the essay. Hope you can respond, and thanks for all the amazing value in your videos. Davian

Hey great questions and I answer a lot of these in the next video. You did really well so far so with a few tweaks you should be back doing great. I don't do much active SEO - I usually work with clients that already do marketing/are well known/don't have much competitors so that there isn't much of a traffic issue.

An existing print client wouldn't let me create his website as he was afraid I woudn't be around in a few years. (I was and am in perfect health btw). fifteen years later the domain he bought but never used, has lapsed, he still hasn't got a website and my business is still thriving and growing... The lesson is that some people are insecure and just can't rely on someone else but would rather do it themselves.

We got on National TV for a campaign we ran through one of our sites. The social proof has brought in a plethora of high value clients. The trust factor because of that is 10/10

Sofia S. Depends on the level of trust you already have/can build and your own sales ability. Sometimes it’s possible to start a decent paying project right away.

Hi Rob, thanks for your videos bro, I've just started my Web design business last week, I've watched quite a lot of your videos they are mostly about selling and marketing if I'm not mistaken, which is superb, however I just wanted to ask if you have any videos that cover Web hosting, CMS etc. I've just left college so, atm I'm nowhere near confident with backend technologies, but I get the vibe that most clients down the line will want a little more than the static websites I advertise on my business site (www.xaultron.co.uk). And tbh I have no idea how I can make it possible for my clients to be able to make changes to their websites without my help. Do I have to develop a CMS from scratch or are the software systems out there that make it possible to update text, images etc. Thanks Emmanuel
@FoxWebSchool5 жыл бұрын
Hey Emmanuel - don't stress it. Anything your clients might need can always be built - someone has already made a great solution. If you join my FB group you can always post up when you get stuck and people will give you info on what has worked best for them. Keeping moving forward though - there will always be a way to build it.

Agreed. No one likes the feeling they are being sold to but everyone likes to buy.
