I've seen this kind of thing happen before on other videos. However since it's starting to be a growing problem, it's kind of a good thing i don't go to bars for drinking in the first place. I'm not really a drinker in the USA, however that is pretty scary if something like that unfolded on you until it was too late.

I had this happen in Osaka or Kyoto. But instead it was a clothing store one person brought me too. Everything was waaaaaay overpriced, but I felt rather unsafe, so I bought one thing and exited the store. All clothes seemed second-hand, and really low quality.

I feel like in places where you see the cops all the time, this ends up being super rare. Tokyo, for example: when I go to Ebisu; cops everywhere--I never see this crap go down even though some areas can look slightly shady (Shibuya style). Kabukicho in Shinjuku? I NEVER see the cops there. Osaka is the same... That one guy is was right about the south; it's like Los Angeles. The North Side is clean and nice but if you go to the south, it gets hairy--graffitti and everything. First time I witnessed a fight on the street between two drunk guys was down there. Cops came and broke it up eventually. In the neighborhood where I live, I routinely see the cops walking around or driving around. I see weirdos and shady characters from time to time but they don't do anything, 'cause they know the cops are around and they'll get pinched for sure. I hear what that one guy was saying about enforcement and maybe it didn't work. But it's a long-term game and once it eases up, the bad guys move back in again. If that one spot he was talking about brought back the 2am patrols, for sure, those touts and other scammers would scram.

Thanks for the info. Super useful. Recently I watched a video of a Japanese girl who swindled hundreds of thousands of dollars from desperate lonely men by spinning tales in order to trick them and pretending that she liked them. She lost all the money at a host club (Lol) Keep your eyes open guys, when traveling to any foreign country. I got scammed by taxi drivers at a Thailand airport right when I got off the plane. They overcharged me. Luckily it was only around 15 dollars worth of money.

I was victim of the same scam in Shanghai, China, in 2012. Fortunately I paid "only" around 300 euro..
@SandraMehmetАй бұрын
That's a still a lot. Tell me more. Thx
@gfr73Ай бұрын
@@SandraMehmet I was near Nanjing Road, walking around alone and I was stopped by two girls that, after seeing me, began to guess my possible nationality. That was an unusual but smart way to catch my attention and stop me. I began to talk to them, just telling them where I was from, ...then they kept talking to me ..and since it was very hot, they suggested me to go to a place with them to drink something. Since everything in China was way cheaper than in my home country, I accepted...but then I was brought to the last floor of a building, where a waiter began to bring shots of alcoholic drinks, slices of watermelon, melon, pinapple etc etc. They were drinking (I never drink alcoholic drinks) and eating a lot, I just ate some pieces of fruit..but then the waiter kept bringing more and more stuff, until at a certain point I said:"Ok, enough.stop!"..they brought me the bill and it was around 300 euro...which pi$$ed me off. I sent to hell the 2 girls because I understood that it was a scam but I was in China, I knew that nobody would have protected me, almost nobody was speaking in English...so the only way to get out of there was by paying that bill. I didn't have enough yuan, so I gave the difference in euro (fortunately I had cash with me) and then I left. The day after, I happened to pass again in the same place on the same road...and they were again there, looking for other targets.

I once followed one of those bar advertisement guys in kabukicho in like 2017 or something. Was a nigerian dude, gave me a tour of places in the area and I went in and had some drinks, sang some karaoke with a couple girls and all was good, probably only amounted to like less than 5k yen most if I remember correct, which is cheaper than a regular night out in Sweden. But I wouldn't advice people to do this lmao.

Bottakuri bars are truly scummy. People who run and work for them deserve prison time. Several years ago, Kai Asakura (who will be fighting for the UFC flyweight championship on 12/7) put out an entertaining KZbin video where he went undercover into a bottakuri bar dressed as an Akihabara otaku. His older brother Mikuru, who's also a top Japanese MMA fighter, also made a similar video. It was fun seeing the staff's reaction when they found out who they were actually dealing with.

Some of these people who work there are also threatened. People doing yamibaito are lured in by good pay, and the bosses will ask extensivly about their family (how many siblings they have for example). After being hired and slowly discover it is a yamibaito job are threatened that if they leave they and their family will be harmed.

I'm grateful for your content and education. It's important to protect yourself. However, In a video warning against shady practices, why encourage dirty language? Don't assume your viewers like it, I certainly do not. Keep it educational and professional. I like your joke questions but I will not subscribe if you continue to promote bad language or use it.
