I had to come to terms that my lifestyle isn’t fancy and I need to concentrate on basics quality and keeping it simple. I’ve watched almost all of your videos. We all are struggling with the same thing. I’ve got to face my reality I’m an artist need clothes that are easy to move in and outfits to meet clients but I have to be practical. When I want to shop I ask the question where are you going to wear that and will you get lots of wear. Thanks 🦋

I agree with this insight and I'm still struggling with it. I love to dress fancy and for the office, but I only go to the office 2 days a week, I cycle there, and the dress code is not actually that fancy. So, practical basics for home would serve me way better. Hopefully I can get there and look nice at home instead of "saving" all my nice pieces for some fancy time that never actually arrives.

If it makes you happy to dress more fancy and it feels right for your style, then I suggest trying to put together outfits with your fancy pieces mixed with your practical basics. For example... if you have a beautiful dress you love to wear, can you "dress it down" with flat ankle boots or trainers, or even a cardigan?

For example, I bought a new white t-shirt, but I only wore it 1x in 1 year because "it's too nice", so I "save" it for later. 😣. It's almost like my clothes are too good for me. 🤦‍♀️

Idk if you noticed, Nordstrom and Rack’s clothes are not same quality as before… it’s so sad. They have quality items maybe but very few 😢

I know! So many of the brands I used to love and recommend have now started using low quality fabrics and keeping the prices the same. I always check what materials an item is made from even if it's a brand I've trusted in the past 😐

@@JudyAiken It's one of those items that are on most capsule wardrobe "must-have" lists, so many women will buy a black blazer (or in my case a white button-up cotton shirt) without taking into account if it works with your personal style. ❤

I have also started to pay attention to the kinds of fabric I love. For a long time, I thought I was a dresses person. But it turns out that I’m a flowy fabric person. I also like bright colors as a third layer and like wearing black as a base. I used to think I didn’t like black because was depressing but it was lacking the top layer to frame the black. This was a game changer since I really do not like way I look I dresses. I feel very frumpy. But would keep buying and then donating them. I also love prints and color as a third layer. I would but these colorful and brightly printed dresses that would sit on my closet next to my black flowy pants that would wear with a blank tank. The black was alway my font, but then I did more like the starkness of the color. Once I discovered kimonos and long drapey shirts, I never reached for my dresses. Sometimes personal style requires thinking about fabric and color. Sometimes we think we are buying the right thing even when it does feel a little bit wrong. Great video!

That is very good advice..try it on. I took everything out of my wardrobe and asked myself did it fit, was it in good condition, was I fed up with it, did it go with other stuff in my wardrobe, did I like it on, etc... I got rid of half my clothes and some of my shoes, and I don't have a huge wardrobe... but it gave me room to buy some new fresh items, and now, I go to my wardrobe and its which item will I choose, rather than whats in here that I can wear!

I lived in Madrid... You don't need to buy different clothes for travel to Europe from the US. Just wear regular clothes and sneakers. The only fancy clothes women wear are for going clubbing.

I found that handbags are the thing I have too much of and I always gravitate towards the same ones to wear. I'm now decluttering all the pretty but not practical small clutch bags. They don't hold enough when I do go on a night out and I really meed just my bigger bags and totes!

Oh how this was posted two days ago . I was worrying and stressing that even after shopping I still had nothing to wear . I start my new job and business casual is the attire I kept telling myself knowing good and well I have clothes. Go to a bra shop and get a proper fitting done. A t-shirt bra, a low cut bra and a sport bra (if you do gym or anything active) all in nude colour. These 3 will be your basics to go with just about everything. Then you can get a couple of other pretty ones if you like (remember, prints, lace etc, shows up under smooth or sheer clothes) good luck

I’m here because of what just happened to me. I went shopping over the weekend and spent a lot of money on a lot of cute things that I thought were going to be great to wear. This morning it seemed that nothing I tried to put on would go together. I bought some really cute skinny jeans that have a lot of exposed silver buttons, so it seemed none of my shoes were right for those jeans. So then I tried on my plain flare jeans, but they were too short for most of my boots which have a little bit of a heel. Also, some of my boots have gold on them, but the buttons on my jeans are silver. I also don’t have the right colors of jackets to match any of my boots or shoes. I realized that this morning because it’s a cold enough day to wear a jacket. I really need help!
