Any flashing lights, move the **** over! I can not tell you how many times I have felt the wind off cars rushing next to me on the side of the freeway. Doesn't matter what color, they are there to grab attention and tell you to keep a safe speed and distance. In the rare chance that somebody important there reads this, What I noticed helped move people over more than red lights was a traffic advisor or arrow stick. That pattern seemed to be a night and day difference in grabbing attention. My service trucks that have those get cars to give them a buffer lane. My trucks that have red lights just flashing don't always have the same respect from drivers.

Color of lights aside, city police vehicles are built for use in a city. They have enhanced electrical systems to handle long periods of being parked with their flashing lights on. They have enhanced cooling systems for long periods of idling. There are other enhancements too. Privately owned vehicles use for volunteer duties won't have these enhancements.

Something else to add too, just like here in Florida when we had reds to take our pov to a call instead of the station. If you get in a wreck, or while at a scene someone damages your vehicle on purpose or accident, your personal insurance will give you a very hard time and doesn't want to cover your claim. Seen it a few times. The insurance scumbags are out for money, not paying a claim. Then they claim that you didn't have under or un insured motorist covered and try to fuck you that way too.

I agree totally with Mr. Cummings, about the use of "orange caution light bars".....people dont take them serious enough! So I feel if they are volunteering their time and costs to help out HPD, HFD, EMS, Lifeguards, and even National Guard (on crisis), they SHOULD be officially noted as part of an "emergency response vehicle". And due to the past Lisa Au case, absolutely NO ONE should be equipped with blue lights in any place on their vehicles.....and beleive me, I DO SEE a few cars, SUVs and trucks with them on...making them look "cool".......not gonna be cool when you hear a siren BURP and HPD speakers tell you to pull over!
