The Flying V is such an incredible and distinctive guitar, I immediately think of Mr. Albert King wielding one of those while smoking a pipe and belting out Blues Power or Born Under a Bad Sign. Simply iconic!

Since there is only 20 comments on this video, I'll comment so you might see it. I want to thank you for all you've taught me. I started guitar in 2016 and gave up after a couple months. Not so long ago, I was listening to music (it was either American Idiot or Smells Like Teen Spirit), and I picked up my guitar for the first time in years to learn it. After struggling to figure it out on my own, I went on KZbin to find a tutorial and I found your channel. Ever since then, I've been watching your videos all the time. I've started getting better at guitar at an incredibly fast rate and now I've started reading tabs. It's all thanks to you that I have discovered a talent. I'm hoping to start a band as an adult and bring back GOOD music. I went to the Hella mega tour in Houston and that gave me more motivation to become one of the best. Again, thank you so much.

I haven't started a band yet, but my high school band director recommended I join the jazz band. I'm about to be a freshman and I play trumpet. I'm a little nervous because I have a really cheap stratocaster rip off and since I'm teaching myself, I don't know very many chords. I practice for at least 3 hours every day after marching camp.

@@chrishardin7685 Dude, Squiers are quite good actually! Especially with the right eq settings on an amp it then just comes down to the unique tone of your fingers! Be sure to finger exercise every day especially since Jazz chords are going to be difficult at first but take it as slow as you need. Focus on playing clean before going for speed, the muscle memory will build up and help later on! The good news is that it’s easier than playing an metal stringed acoustic! 👍🏻 So keep up with the practice and try avoiding playing songs completely out of your realm. For me learning power chords, basic chords and then practicing the chord changes, minor pentatonic scales such as Aminor was a great start for me! What is your favorite band?! ☯️

@@gregorywilson3318 Thanks! I don't really know how to learn guitar because I've been teaching myself and my parents aren't willing to get me lessons. It's my fault, because the first time I was in lessons I quit and wasted my parent's money. Any little piece of advice helps. Thanks! Also, my two favorite bands are Black Sabbath and Nirvana.
@gregorywilson33183 жыл бұрын
@@chrishardin7685 Freaking love Black Sabbath!!! The first song I learned to play all the way through was Electric Funeral and I highly recommend that you do a youtube search “How to play electric funeral by Black Sabbath on guitar.” It is not difficult and with practice you will get the rhythm down and all! ☯️

this may get overlooked, but marty you've helped me learn a lot I didn't think i could. guitar has been a massive coping mechanism for me and it helps me with a lot of the things i struggle with. it's nice to just play what I'm feeling, and your lessons and videos help me put it into some sort of sense of a song. i was scared of not being able to play because i have a tendancy to give up on things, but when i first learned "The Kids Aren't Alright" from your tutorials, it made me wanna keep trying and I've gotten so much better. ive had an acoustic guitar since I was about 9, but i never bothered to pick it up. a few months ago i started playing it again and got an electric guitar for my birthday. ive been so happy to finally do something im actually passionate about. thank you marty.

I personally own a flying V (mahogany) since 11 years, the quantity of tones and genres you can play without sounding and looking awful is insane, you can blues, you can rock, and you can even play the heavyest metal without feeling in the wrong spot or having a messy sound, mine is older and probably different from the one you'll win but man, this guitar is amazing, finally some love for one of the most underrated guitars out there!
@sirspongadoodle Жыл бұрын
Tone wood isn’t real pickups make very little difference apart from humbuckers compared to single coils and the shape doesn’t matter either… what your experiencing is a placebo or you started with a single coil guitar… literally everything you list in the tone bit is what a humbucker sounds like, cheap Chinese or 300 dollar Seymour Duncan the tone stays the same maybe ones a little louder but tone wise no.

Only get it for the look and feel, not the tone. Every humbucking electric guitar sounds the same when you test the guitar and nothing else you hear no sonic difference between one and another…
@douglasankenman3621 Жыл бұрын
I bought a V six months ago because it felt better in my hands than the SG or a Paul. The tone is incredibly rich. Put it into a Marshall and it's like Chocolate and Peanut Butter.

Until you realise that guitars pretty much sound the same, apart from single coils to humbuckers there’s no real tonal difference with guitars…
