I've had a crested gecko that's now 2 years old. We bought him from PetCo, not knowing otherwise, and ever since then we consider him our "rescue". Although he is jumpy, he still has some problems with handling. I went to my first Reptile Expo here in New York a couple weeks after I bought him, and I saw the tamed cresties they have. I'm not sure if I should stick with my current gecko or try to find someone who can take him for me? I don't like to give any animal away but it might be the best for him. I'm not sure if breeders would take him for me since I don't know a lot about where he's from. Thanks for any advice in advance!

I would keep him. 90% of crested geckos tame out with handling and age.

Thank you for the advice! I think I’ll feel better too keeping him so I know he’s in a good place, otherwise I’d have some serious separation anxiety 😂

i am having trouble with my geckos weight. I have watched ALL of your videos including the weight related ones. my gecko is 8 months old and he is only 7 grams! i feed him 2 gut loaded crickets once a week and I cannot feed him anymore crickets than that because i am limited to the amount. i also feed him pangea. I keep his temp. at 78 and I keep the humidity from 50-80. I have him in a 6qt. sterilite container and i have many places for him to hide.

Isabella Song why can’t you feed more crickets? 2 a week is pretty low. I would also move him to a bigger bin and lower the temp a bit bc 78 is quite high. My gecko got to 27 grams in 8 months and I got him when he was 5 grams, When I got him I put him in 10 gallon, no extra heating 10 -15 crickets a week, and 4 or so regular feedings a week, I would feed him powder with water every day, and not feed him on Friday or Saturday, give him all the crickets on Sunday and then skip Monday. Tuesday more power with water till Friday and then redo lol 😂 hope that made scene, it could also be genetics if you got him from chain pet store

8 months and 7g isn't horrible but if you could feed a couple extra crickets a week I think it'd really help.
@fireballbruno91584 жыл бұрын
Also!!!!!! Make sure you are dusting the crickets!!!!! Just the cricket won’t help much!!

@@fireballbruno9158 i read your comment and luckily i had a grow out natrual tank with substrate for him that is 13 gallons with a coconut hide, real plants and all the necesities. I have a temp gradient from 78 to 69 in the tank and i realized that he likes being in the coconut at around 75 degrees. Walnut (the crested gecko) loves his crickets but I cant feed him to many because of the coronavirus so I cant go to petsmart (i feed the crickets at home even though petsmart claims they gutload them). It is very hard to get crickets online right now to because my mom is scared of crickets escaping and will only let me buy a few at a time so the wont escape. most online stores also dont sell a few crickets at a time, most sell atleast 20. The food choices that I have are the Pangea with insects(red bag), Pangea watermelon(green bag) and zoomed tropical flavor (the zoomed food is very healthy with just as much fiber and protein as Pangea). He doesnt seem to like the watermelon and im not sure about the insects and zoomed. I have tried mixing some honey and stuff like that. Walnut also doesnt poop much. when i had him in his 6 qt. tub he pooped 2-3 times a week and now that he is in his larger natrual tank, I cannot see his poop at all. i think that his weight is in between 6 and 7 grams.

Update, he lost weight and got to 5 grams so I moved him back into his tub
