I just came here to learn more about dropping the subframe temporarily, I'm replacing the compressor on mine, lol. But I love the CR-V hype reel at the beginning! 😂

What a great content!! I want my crv just to look a little tougher by changing tires, do you think I can install 215/75r15 on stock rims without having to alter the suspension?
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
I think you should be just fine if in hard Flex you may have a little bit of rubbing if so you might just want to do a little bit of trimming but you shouldn't have to do too much.

Have you tried that tire size? How does it ride?

Hi Tom, just got my 2000 crv and want to put the truhart 3” lift on with 265-70 R17 tires on some method wheels, I was planning on getting the diffs regeared too. New to this stuff so doing more research I saw this and realize I should do a subframe drop probably, what else do you recommend I do to it to have it last as long as possible?
@crv_tom2 ай бұрын
Pretty much you got the right idea just make sure all of your suspension and key components are updated and you're not running around and worn out parts and if you haven't already definitely check out Lifted Honda Society on Facebook lot of good info there

Hi @crv_tom Thanks for the video. I would like to put 225/65R17 size tires and from my calculations that is 1 inc above the size Honda advices (225/55R17). Will 1 inc lift be enough or should I go further?

It sounds like you've done your homework and you should be fine but what year CRV is it to be exact?

Hey Tom just subscribed. Out of a lot of creators you explain things very well and I have a question if you can help. I’m not super mechanical inclined, but my goal in the next year is to get a well maintained RD1 and learn to work on it. I will start with the valve lash adjustment, timing belt/water pump, and ball joints but eventually I would like to do the 1 inch/2 inch lift and subframe drop. I still have a lot to learn, but would there be any suspension components wise to replace during that lift operation? Or would OEM serve best. Ideally I’d love to replace all of the suspension eventually and make a super reliable daily. Just curious on the order of operations when going through these upgrades. Thank you!

Thank you very much for that. I strive to really try to do my best to show people everything and not leave bits and pieces out or if I do go back and talk about them. I feel so many people leave details out, and it causes lots of frustration to the viewer. That being said going over your plan at what you have talked about it really seems you have done your research very well and I would tell you to stick to that plan first and stick with getting it all fully operational and to OEM into you decide exactly what size lift you want to do then either reach out to me or do some research on Facebook or other pages and you will see a lot of blueprints people have done for the amount of lift you would want to do.

Hey man. I know a lot of people do front diff drop's on IFS 4x4's but doesn't a whole subframe drop change IFS geometry due to changing the triangular measurements of the whole design ?
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
You definitely would have to reach out to HRG on the specifics they definitely go very in-depth with their kits designs to work out all the bugs.

what do you recommend for lifted crv upper control arms “camber kits” truhartt lifted crv control arm or use the aerogenics spaver
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
I would recommend both if you were 4 in or above in lift if you're under just the Truhart lifted camber kit.

Hi, im planing on putting the truheart lift coil over on my 2000 CRV with the truheart front and rear camber arms. Im only planing on doing the minimal 2 inch lift, do i still need a subframe drop ?
@crv_tom10 ай бұрын
I'm not 100% sure on how much left you can get out of those coilovers I have not had a chance to try them myself so I would say I would fool around with a little bit anything over 2-in lift out for sure put the subframe drop kit on.

Have u done the subframe swap for the rusted one I need to do my 99crv and need to know what all need to be removed to get it out

I just got the aerogenics rear billet lca but the guest point to bolt the strut requires me to push the lca inward to subframe meaning it almost bending the strut inward and I didn’t want to break nothing so I used the middle Mount hole. Will it not affect anything lf I Mount it on highest mount hole.
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
Yes you got to kind push the lower control arm forward towards the front of the car to fit the strut in the top highest mount when you set it back down on the ground it will kind of pull itself back but what would help the most would be a rear trailing arm spacer kit and that should help line it back up

Doing a 1 inch drop right now. How do you get the steering shaft to fully seat? I disconnected it to get the subframe to drop. Now it to far apart lol
@crv_tom9 ай бұрын
If the install of the drop is correct, you should have enough room to push the steering shaft connecting piece up the shaft as long as you loosen it. Then bring it back down on top of the steering rack and line everything up.

so im at 3" lift, did the subframe drop with 1" spacers and my spring still hits but axles are not vibrating. Should I look into 1.5" drop? to me looking at it now since the front lift spacer is 1.5" the subframe drop should be 1.5"?
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
In full flex there really isn't much you can do that can stop the control arm from hitting a point of the spring the aerogenic spacers help out a bit but this is still something that has been an ongoing problem for many of the lifted CRV community!

I just bought tru hart lift coilover, do I need to drop the subframe ?

It all depends on how high you plan to lift it.

Would you recommend the hrg style lift kits like a 2” or lifting with OME springs with like kyb agx shocks?
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
If you're not going for much higher than 2 in I would definitely recommend the old man emu but hrg for anything bigger or even the 2-in isn't bad but I would prefer Springs over spacers if given the choice.

I am thinking of boosting my crv and seeing if you have any good advice for ecu tunning. I want to chip the ecu but wanted some advice from someone who works on first gen CR-Vs.
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
I would go with a hondata s300 and find a good tuner around you.
@flamedot56922 жыл бұрын
Does the hrg lift kits give you more travel distance or are they just for ride height?
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
If you do the full subframe kit you do get a little bit of extra travel but mostly it's just extra ride height which will allow you to fit bigger tires which in a sense gives you a little bit of extra travel LOL
@anthonyjr699 Жыл бұрын
How many inches are you lifted ?
@crv_tom Жыл бұрын
This one that I worked on was previously lifted 2 in but I then installed a 4-in HRG lift kit with subframe kit on it.
