Thanks for this video. Been happy with the 2monitor x 2 PC version, and was curious about getting the 1 monitor x 4 PC version with a PS5 plugged in. Your video boosted my confidence in such a setup. Like others said, TESmart should comp you for your purchase.

I was not able to get my gaming mice to work with this switch. First was a Logitech mmo mouse. Second was a glorious model o wired.

Did you try it in the non-kbm usb port? The usb support for KBM is definitely limited with this KVM. Since that wasn't my primary use case, it didn't bother me as much.
@AFromPoland9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the video. I have one question about your KVM: when you connect your monitors to a KVM switch, does your monitor(s) (especially when KVM is set to your PC) go to sleep after a few minutes as if they were connected directly to the PC? When I talk about putting the monitor(s) to sleep, I mean the setting in Windows that says after how many minutes Windows will turn off the display (typical power-saving functionality). I'm asking about this because I also have a TeSmart KVM switch and in my case, putting the monitor to sleep does not work when the KVM switch is used :( If the monitor is connected directly to the computer, then everything works without any problems and the monitor goes to sleep correctly.
@WheezysGaming9 ай бұрын
I actually haven't tested that, because I have putting my monitors to sleep disabled in my PC 😂 But my guess would be no, because one of the features of the KVM is that it keeps your monitors active even when you switch away from them.

if we are connecting a PS5 and PC with mouse mechanical keyboard monitor and speakers , can i not plug the mechanical keyboard in the USB2.0 and the mouse in the mouse usb port? then shouldn't both work with the play station and the pc?
@WheezysGaming Жыл бұрын
Potentially. That is not the "officially" supported way to use KB&M with this switch, but it worked for me with my keyboard, as you can see at 11:28. I can't guarantee it will work with YOUR mechanical keyboard, but I suspect it will. Edit: I realize you were asking about the PS5, and no, the PS5 would not recognize the mechanical keyboard at all. I was only able to use the normal keyboard with the PS5.

Would a regular HDMI switch not solve your first problem of your screens malfunctioning when you switch between console and pc? Just asking cause I don't need a mouse and keyboard input for my console devices.
@WheezysGaming2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the switch. Most HDMI switches deactivate the inactive ports, which would tell the PC that the monitor has been removed, which is the problem. The KVM keeps the port active, so the PC doesn't think the monitor has been removed and start shuffling things around. My understanding is that Windows 11 handles this better than Windows 10, so depending on your PC it might not be as much of an issue. I haven't tested it on Windows 11

Have you tested if you can run a mouse or keyboard with 1000hz polling ?
@WheezysGaming2 жыл бұрын
I haven't explicitly tested that, but there's no reason I would think that faster polling rate mice wouldn't work, given the caveats and limitations I already mentioned in the video.

As I pointed out in the video, gaming keyboards are NOT officially supported through the standard keyboard USB ports, ONLY the additional accessory port. It's kind of a workaround, but it can do the job in a pinch.

this video was so useful. im looking for a keyboard and mouse switcher. then saw this video and seriously considering getting the hdmi instead. since it a normal kvm aswell right. i too hate the windows re arranging :D im not as savvy with this stuff as you. i have Keychron K4 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. would that be classed as device id need to use the non keyboard port? and it would make a sound when i switch? thank you o/ :)
@WheezysGaming Жыл бұрын
The KVM switch specifically calls out mechanical keyboards as not supported, so most likely yes it would need to go through the USB port. There is no sound when switching between inputs, other than the soft click of the button being pressed.

So idk much about technology but would I be able to hook a mouse and keyboard and lets say I am on the Xbox and playing kbm on it now I have a laptop connected to my second monitor and I just switch it does it work like that or no?
@WheezysGaming7 ай бұрын
Yes, if you hook the USB for the KVM to both your laptop and your Xbox, then you can use it with both by switching the KVM.

isn't this capped at 60hz? so it's not really great for gaming?
@WheezysGaming Жыл бұрын
60Hz at 4K is plenty for gaming, especially on consoles. I'm not sure if it will push more frames at lower resolution, but I JUST posted a video for my NEW KVM that I switched to, and it DOES support higher framerates at resolutions below 4K, AND dual monitors: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5zReKlvqM58f9E

I'm trying to understand if a KVM could affect the possible hz on my gaming monitor. If I have 120 fps now. Will it be the same with the KVM or it depends on the KVM?
@WheezysGaming2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what the KVM supports. This one supports up to 4K@60Hz. It should support higher framerates for lower resolutions, but I didn't test that on my setup.

@@ktg_2castle960 I actually took the cheap way out and found that my monitor can take 2 HDMIs. So, I just bought an extra HDMI - 1 connected to the gaming computer and 1 to my macbook. I simply switch the output to either hdmi port whenever I need it. Yes, you do lose some nice to have features but given my use case and looking at the prices of the type of switches I wanted, I'd say I'm fine with saving 100-200$

The function of this keyboard and mouse is not reflected?
@WheezysGaming3 жыл бұрын
What do you mean reflected? A normal, non-mechanical keyboard works exactly as advertised. Compatibility with a mechanical or gaming keyboard relies on the destination device supporting it over USB 2.0. It seems to support any mouse.
@FeroxWJB2 жыл бұрын
The built-in keyboard/mouse port on the switch allows the switch to "Keep alive" and also use mouse gestures for switching between the two pcs (USB 1.0). If you plug it into the USB 2.0 port, the keyboard and mouse will work, but every time you switch between between the PCs it will basically reconnect/disconnect every time (This is why he's hearing the sound)
