Why You NEED to Build a Cheap Drift Trike!! Trike Revival

Drift trikes are a ton of fun to drift around, they're cheap, and simple to build! We revive this old drift trike that we built in 8 hours, powered by a stock Predator 212cc engine, built from the front half of a bicycle, some Go Power Sports parts, and scrap tubing we found. Why doesn't everyone have a trike?
We reassemble the trike, cut, modify, and re-weld the main frame piece to give the front end way more caster, which makes the trike look and handle way better!

Now that you cut down the frame it may make sense to flip the stem back forward and angle the bars back towards you. It would give you more arm room.

@@cordcd7 stuff is a lot cheaper in America. An old Chinese kids quad bike that doesn't run (and isn't worth repairing) will have $150 on it. We can get stationary 6.5hp engines for $200 but karting is really only about racing so getting cheap parts is hard as they are all race spec. We don't have the mini bikes or karts they do. I looked at some for my kids and you're looking at $400 new for a Chinese 50cc quad, and $800 for a 6.5hp kart. Anything second hand will be $200 whether it has an engine or not.

I agree, $400 isn't cheap. Gotta check Craigslist regularly. Cheap stuff doesn't last long on their, but if you look ever couple hours you'll get lucky eventually. But you have to be a decent mechanic bc most stuff you get cheap won't run. I got a broken pressure washer for $35, and it had a Predator 6.5hp type engine that ran. Found a gokart chassis for$25(although most are over$200 on clist). I got a 50cc scooter for $50, fixed it up for less than$10, and just sold it for $330. I had days of labor into it though. But as long as you can work on stuff, you'll eventually score.

Super bad ass, I’ve found that by putting feet up on spindles on front tire allows better control, also a 5 gallon bucket makes a great sleeve for rear tires. We ride em on grass and they will last a few hrs of hard abuse.

I recomend putting some straight drag bar style bars or low rise dirt bike bars. I have them on my drift trike. Makes it more controllable.

Flip the handle bar around facing forward to give yourself more clearance. Also ad foot pegs from the frame...this will make it so your not hanging your feet out when you get alot of angle

If you're a good welder, it doesnt matter if its a gas or flux core welder. I weld thin wall bicycle tubing with my flux core welder and 0.30 wire all the time. I even fill rather large gaps all the time and have never had a weld break in 20 years of welding. Just have to use gussets where needed and over build the joints for extra strength. The main down side of flux is all the damn splatter which is a pain to clean up. Gas is definitely better, but not necessary.
