This is so true, I've seen a lot of ppl who get super nervous about starting out but you just gotta get out there and start learning, no one makes perfect stuff from the beginning! Just wanted to add too that I recently went through all your Twitch Growth playlist and it has helped me out SO much. In only a few streams I went from 5 viewers or less to an average of 7 to 13 viewers, sometimes I've almost reached 20 and it's been so exciting and motivating to me. Of course I still have a long way to go and things I gotta work on (finally going to get started on that list about stories/conversation topics you mentioned once since I'm not a great conversation starter overall), but it's been a great new start to my channel so far 😤 Sorry for the sorta long first comment ever, just wanted to thank you properly !! I like that advice, and the mentality. I myself have only started YT content in the last 4 months or so, and I was years of procrastination before I finally had an idea that I put effort into. Only 7 videos in (they take a good amount of time to edit, especially with full time work) but it's started off well and ive seen small growth, can it be better? Always. But looking back at my first 2 videos, it's much better so I know ive improved, but I'm far from the best and what I think I can do, so I'll keep working towards it. Also shout out to Burnie Burns, he's been a big inspiration of mine for years, and it's always been a joy listening to him giving advice.

Discovering Total War are our most popular streams out of the variety we do, my buddy who does the streams with me (the others do other videos with us during the week) and I had an idea. We are now doing Total War twice a week, so two different Total Wars on two different days, with ongoing campaigns we do not restart no matter how rocky it is. With that, good video description (since we multistream to all 3 big services) and now an extra day, I think we are going to start doing real well. FB videos alone are averaging 500-4000 views with live numbers hovering around 50, and we are steadily gaining on Twitch because of it now too. We have more ideas to impliment and I think those will also help us grow organically. We all know it is a long haul, but all 7 of us love to stream
@WarThunderBabe-Official Жыл бұрын
This is such good advice. I've been watching a bunch of your videos and you've earned one more subscriber. I think you are the voice of reasoning that some of us struggling to make the first moves really need to hear. The only person that knows that I want to be a streamer is my boyfriend and his words of encouragement are a bit on the tougher side, kind of like Shia Labeouf's JUST DO IT!, except Shia's message is constructive not destructive. Hope you keep sharing your wisdom from years of experience so that people like me can have a really helpful resource that isn't out to b.s. their viewers with dishonest advice.
@ThieVuz3 жыл бұрын
Thats honestly the biggest kick in the shins that I constantly struggle with. The market is so overflown with creators trying to grow big. Everybody has done everything. What makes me more unique than GamerDude2010 playing the same game as me. What makes someone want to watch my streams/videos over someone as big and entertaining as xqc or tyler1 or whatever. If anything I struggle the most with the setup, "what video am I gonna make" or "what game am I gonna stream", because 99/100 times someone else has already done that or is doing that at the same time. I know youre supposed to be "yourself" on camera but honestly I don't really see how someone would watch me when I am me. "But ThieVuz dont compare yourself to others", well, thats kind of the point of trying something on an overflown market is it? You need to compare yourself to know where others succeed or fail. I need something perfect and never done before so I stand out. Nothing less really works for me, and that's why I personally haven't streamed in a long time. On top of that, KZbin is the second best option, but imagine being creative and innovative lol. I've been on KZbin and Twitch for years, yet I have never really grown for some reason, and that's whats kinda hurting me and stopping me from trying.
@StreamScheme3 жыл бұрын
It is honestly brutal and we all go through it, we fail and we fail, we see no growth, and then we give up. I did it as well, until I started understanding how to grow properly. I think the hardest part is honestly breaking away from this thinking and being willing to focus on a niche or topic, invest time into it, focus on it, and be prepared that it will fail but at least you'll learn.
@ThieVuz3 жыл бұрын
@@StreamScheme Of course only playing the most popular games on the platform doesn't really help, and I'm aware of that. I just have yet to find a niche community/game that I really enjoy/want to invest time into. I feel like I am very split in two on wanting to be a goofy funny variety streamer or someone who you watch because they're good at certain games.

That method sounds like what I do for my Let's Play avatar images. I always draw my avatar a little differently, either by making the appearance a bit closer to how it's done to the characters in the game or I use a different technique to color it in. Like the Three Houses avatar uses a shading that I hadn't used before. The Deadly Premonition one uses a gray-scale-with-red style.

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." (Samuel Beckett) Beckett didn't actually mean this quotation to be inspirational, but it works pretty well in this context. I always tell my kids not to be afraid of making mistakes in their schoolwork. because making mistakes is the best way to learn. Talk to any successful stand-up comedian about how they got started, and you'll always hear the same stories about routines in half-empty clubs where they get heckled all the time and left the stage in tears. They worked their way through that, it's exactly the same with streams/videos.

I can dig it lol The only thing I'd like to comment on is the 10,000hrs will make ya a master. It will I totally agree I mean we put in 1000s of hrs into video games and other hobbies and we eventually get good at them and u have to push and challenge urself more and more I have a intro on one of my videos I had alot of fund doing and it helped me understand how I can use my green screen and I have to improve on meshing everything and I feel it will get better each time I take the approach. 10000hrs is alot of time its a long time, but its not a waste if time if your enjoying yourself and if your getting enjoyment out of it weather 12 people watch it, or 12000 people watch it. U made it u enjoy it and u know u can make it better and better. I know I won't grow significantly or won't splash over night or probably won't even make a career out of it but im learning new skills and im having fun doing it... I just wish I didn't have a personality of a English teacher. Hopefully I can improve on that lol thats probably in the.top 3 most challenging things for me right now

I’ve been spreading myself a little too thin as of late. But hopefully I can finish a few other non-content-creation projects soon, so that I can begin again on my 10,000 hours.

Question! Starting off with a Just Chatting section as people come in, you talk about things, and then start up the game you are gonna stream. How do you suggest to do that to someone who has overall a good 3-5 viewers, but 4 to all 5 of them are lurking? They are lurking, they likely aren't really listening (have you on really low volume at work or muted the tab) and they are not gonna be chatting.

the quintessence of the "JUST DO IT!"-meme. also, one of the vtubers nailed it recently in one of her songs she wrote herself that triggered a shitload of exactly those that it was aimed at to help. hope you don't mind me sharing the material i'm referencing of that part of her song and her explaining that part. if you do, just leave a message and i'll remove it from the comment. the part of the song 1:47 - 2:15 (but keeps going till the end) kzbin.info/www/bejne/lX6QZ5-hpM5pgpY and the explaining kzbin.info/www/bejne/jauVnXp6jdypgdk

I work as an Editor in Book Publishing, and I have a lot of friends come to me for advice for writing a novel. My response is always "don't start with a novel, write short pieces instead". The first things you make will be utter trash. Not because you have no talent, but because you've never done it before. So start and finish AS MANY crap short projects as you can. You'll hone your skills and work towards making something good. Your favourite creators/musicians/authors didn't just start out making high quality, award winning pieces. They started out just as trash as everyone else (in most cases).

My favourite author wrote ten or eleven full manuscripts before he was picked up by a publisher. By that point, he was damn good at writing novels.

I don't tell people my ideas now because there's a potential of them stealing it and using it. And the fear of others stealing my ideas and becoming famous with it. So I just do it and publish and hope for the best. I don't even tell my viewers the topic of the video until that video is live.

And also, I have a speech impediment I feel it's preventing my viewers from enjoying my streams really so I feel this whole gig is gonna be a flop but (shrugs)
