Nyc is fast paced and great to visit. To live is another story. You need MONEY!!!!! Im from jersey and travel to ny almost everyday. Traffic, construction blocking the streets, very high prices. No parking and crazy rude Yorkers. I seen it all. Very dense and over populated. Many jobs but hard to get due to overpopulation. So great to visit. Not fun, unless you willing to pay bug bucks just for brights lights and tall buildings

a lot of people say nyc isn’t really the best place to live, not safe, etc. But then again, practically everywhere is unsafe! Especially cities! of course it’s going to be dangerous, so you could always move in with somebody or take precautions leaving alone especially as a girl like for example, don’t go out at night alone, etc! I LOVE nyc! The city is probably so worth visiting or living in. Everything about nyc is so pretty, and there’s so many people that nobody cares who you are, skin color, etc.

I just stumbled on your channel. I like your videos are you going to start creating some more anytime soon? I live in Milwaukee and have had a dream of moving to NYC for a long time. I just got a job at Lifetime Fitness in Brookfield, WI. I have worked in the fitness industry for 10 years and I applied there because I know they can help me to eventually transfer to NYC at a Lifetime out there.

Hi Joy, I just discovered your videos and love how real you are and how you're so straight up with the facts!! I live in SF and have grown up in the Bay Area my whole life and I'm thinking about moving to NY sometime towards the end of the year. As someone in my early 20s, which boroughs do you think are the best ones to live in for the young adult typa social life?
@joymae3 жыл бұрын
Ayeeee Bay Area!!!!! Ah, I miss real Mexican food, pls bring me a real 🌯 that’s so exciting I’m stoked for you! NYC is perfect for someone in their early twenties, it all really depends on what you like to do but most young people I know hang out in lower manhattan or Brooklyn (Williamsburg)!!!

I am so glad that you made it. At the end of the video, I felt your heart. However, here is a perspective that simply relates to a majority that won't admit it. You are a privileged millennial who probably makes more than 60k a year! 1. rent: People who cant afford 2200 a month, probably can't afford 1800 either! rent is down, but not enough to be affordable to the majority of people who actually work in NYC! 2. Career: Me, 20 years working on the same job, make about 59K. Graduated from college, etc. I actually like my job, but I can't afford the rent to live by myself. 3. Social life: I am an introvert. I always was, and always will. 4. Dating life: I am an introvert, and found those relationships to be expensive and not ideal, for me. 5. Taste buds: I guess is a matter of opinion. I find that the good stuff is way too expensive, and therefore overrated. 6. Health: What if your parents are in NYC, and that is your home? You may live with them because you can't afford to be on your own... 7. If you find the memorial as culture, oh my! Culture out of a tragedy. 8. Less crowded is due to a pandemic, and it should be a concern if it continues! 9. Global warming is making the seasons almost unbearable and frankly quite expensive. 10. Leaders!! OMG! I guess you voted for Trump, and think that the mayor is doing a great job. WOW! I appreciate you because you appear to be a nice person who has overcome. Unfortunately, NYC hasn't been ideal even before the pandemic. This is from someone who lived here for over 35 years!
@joymae3 жыл бұрын
Actually I didn’t have a job the majority of my time in NYC. I’m an introvert and find culture in the history/architecture/culture/and arts of NYC. Thank you for the comment but you only know the surface!

I don't necessarily agree but I have to admire you contrarian opinion. Rents will head down, and as a younger person you risk from Covid is small. My biggest concern is the increasing crime. Please be careful. In 1970's NYC was a mess, but eventually recovered. Just give it 30 years or until next republican mayor.
@joymae4 жыл бұрын
Yes the politicians are not helping the city at all. I am aware of the increase of crime, but I believe the world is a dangerous place regardless. I make sure to stay out of hot spots, am cautious on times of the day, and have common street sense.

I really don’t understand the mindset in paying $2000-3000 per month for a shoebox in any city. Right now you aren’t getting the value for your money. You can go to mid-sized cities, find a great sized apartment, and still have a social life.
