Exactly! I wholeheartedly agree that Poland sails under most tourists’ radar! But lucky for us I guess as I too fell in love with every Polish city I visited when I spent 2 months there last year! Hence I’m going back again to revisit my favourite, Gdansk, again later this year! And yes, I agree that most people think of Poland as dry, boring and not technically up to date! How wrong they are! And cheap!! Omg! Even for an Aussie! I’m glad you love it too! Cheers from Australia

Chopin was born and composed in the years when Poland was in captivity. This captivity lasted 123 years. During this time, Poland officially did not exist on the world map. Fryderyk Chopin went to France. He composed there and his compositions are filled with longing for his homeland. Chopin lived in France, but his heart was in Poland. Fryderyk Chopin's wish was for his heart to be buried in Poland after his death. He never lived to see a free and independent Poland.

Hop in metro at central station and after 15 minutes you are couple minutes away from Nature 2000 preserve next to Wawrzyszew station with boars, deers, foxes and centuries old trees. Also few bus stops away is Mlociny forest where wharf with free (paid with my taxes) for your enjoyment ferry is located. Every district is like a little homeland and mine kicks ass. Altough currently i have to live next to Varso Tower, i spend all of my free time before (waking up 2 hours earlier to get energy boost) work and 30k steps after to calm down after day at it at Bielany. It is soothing to hear just wind in the trees and songs of birds before half hour later you are next to central railway station. I don't think any other european city, yet aline it's capital can turn 180 degrees on your emotions and mood in 15 5:41 minutes. Edit: i'm drunk AF after concert at Gniazdo Piratów. XD

Warsaw's Old Town is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. And heres what they say about its reconstruction - During the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944, more than 85% of Warsaw's historic centre was destroyed by Nazi troops. After the war, a five-year reconstruction campaign by its citizens resulted in today's meticulous restoration of the Old Town, with its churches, palaces and market-place. It is an outstanding example of a near-total reconstruction of a span of history covering the 13th to the 20th century.

Czywiscie, że jest w Warszawie. Prawdziwe serce Chopina!

I can not agree that rebiulded Warsaw is Disneyland! Read this: "By the end of the war (WWII), about 90% of Warsaw’s buildings had been demolished and most of its population murdered, significantly greater destruction than was caused by the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Already during the German occupation, Polish architects and city planners risked their lives to document existing historic structures and to plan for rebuilding. After the war’s end, the new Communist leaders of Poland considered moving the capital to another city. No modern city had ever been rebuilt after such complete demolition. Polish patriots who had fought in the resistance argued that the historical architectural substance of Warsaw represented the Polish nation and should be rebuilt. Over the next 7 years, a replica of old Warsaw was constructed. The destruction of the city center was so complete that 22 paintings of city streets done in the 1770s by the Venetian painter Bernardo Bellotto were used to recreate historic buildings. Bricks from the rubble and fragments of architectural details were reused. Warsaw’s citizens returned by the thousands to help in the reconstruction, following the motto, “The entire nation builds its capital.” Unlike the rebuilding of German cities, no foreign funds were available for Warsaw. The entire reconstruction was paid for by popular donations to the Social Fund for the Rebuilding of the Capital." (historynewsnetwork.org/blog/153807#:~:text=No%20modern%20city%20had%20ever%20been%20rebuilt%20after,years%2C%20a%20replica%20of%20old%20Warsaw%20was%20constructed.)
