The crazy thing is that nursing schools (in the Las Vegas area, at least) try and push us to settle for med surg floors. Fuck that. Be the type of nurse you want to be. There is no set "ladder" you have to climb

The thing about me is that I never thought that I would be good enough to work in the ER. To be able to work under fast pace conditions and still get the job done, working with emergent situations and critical meds , participating in codes accurately etc. but I really am willing to try despite saying I never wanted to go for the er. I feel I will learn so much more

is this my sign from the ER gods? i’ve been aggressively applying to the ER simply because of your advice and i’m lowkey trying to go down the path you did from nursing > PA. i don’t like bedside nursing at all (med/surg floors, etc). so i feel like the ER is really calling me. prayers up and fingers crossed

I'm not a new nurse (can't believe it's been 7 years already). I can totally relate to the play it safe advice. Looking back I wish I would have jumped into the specialty I wanted from the very begining. I'm currently changing my specialty and hope to get hired into the ED. We all have to start our careers somewhere and might as well be doing something we have a passion for.

I have hard time getting accepted in ER, as most hospitals prefer you to have acute care/med surg experience before hiring you in ER. I do want to start in ER or psych unit but no call backs after sending in my applications. I got hired recently for med surg though

As someone who started out in the ER (precepted students and new grads in the ER) and cross trained in ICU- I can safely say if it's a level 2 or level 1 trauma center new grads don't need to start in the ER. Now if someone is dead set on knowing they want to do ER then yes hey can go into ER right out of school- but if you're not sure then don't do ER

Here’s my issue with those pushing people into med surg before er nursing… they are two veryyyy different areas and the mindset in both are way different. If you want to go to the er and you are sure of that don’t go practice a method that is completely different from where you want to be.

I’m a cardiac tele nurse, now a year in. Kind of interesting in ER maybe but not sure if I’ll drown there since I am an introvert, really cautious in my care to patients and organized in how I do things. I heard ER is chaos.
@Vkira022 жыл бұрын
ER is chaos for sure but does require organization, prioritizing, being cautious and thinking on your feet. ER has a flow to it despite looking like it doesn't. Takes a while to figure it out sometimes but worth it! You learn ALOT! Im learning something new every day. Im an introvert too and been in ER for 8 months now. There's a mix of introvert and extrovert here and majority of us a thrill seekers 😂. Started off in tele floor for a year before moving to ER. Best decision ever! Try floating to ER sometime. It will give you a good idea of what it is like before you make the jump.

Jesus lied and said, "Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." How can he be the son of god if he said he was coming back 2000 years ago? The bible condones owning and beating slaves. Exodus 21:20 Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property. According to genealogies in the bible, the earth is about 6000 years old. This is contradicted by both recorded human history and fossil records.
