My X Pro 2 has Nostalgic Neg too, thanks to Lightroom's hack where you delete a bit of text in a file. That and Classic Neg are both great. I am tempted by the XE4 to get CN in-camera but the EVF is the dealbreaker. Hmm, so if you need a weather sealed camera then you should buy one, got it. Not sure what that has to do with the X-E4. That camera is Fuji’s smallest X-mount camera with their latest processor and sensor and a selfie screen. The XPro2 weighs 500 grams, uses a 5 year old processor and sensor, and has a fixed screen. Great comment. As a long time Fuji and XPro2 user, it's really hard to beat the XPro2, and while the XPro3 offers (controversial) improvements, I'm hard pressed to justify getting it. For me, I'd love to have image stabilization, and because I'm always shooting in full manual, the exposure compensation dial for me is not very useful. Instead, I'd rather swap the fiddly and awkward ISO dial arrangement with the exp comp dial.

It’s a bit apples and oranges but I can see your point. I use the X-Pro2 still for personal work and it’s one of my favourite cameras. Decided not to upgrade to the X-Pro3 because in my use the X-Pro3 has some drawbacks. In terms of IQ there’s no visible difference between the 24MP vs the 26MP sensor. The difference is in read-out speed (video) and AF. For me not an issue. The X-E4 for me was a bit of a disappointment. A very underwhelming update of the X-E3. Fuji’s camera roadmap is anyhow getting a bit of the mixed bag. When you simultaneously offer 5-6 models around $800-1000 with very similar technology it starts to get really crowded...

This is a really great take on XPRO vs XE4! I’d love to pick your brain on the following… I’m having a hard time with deciding on a new Fuji body, struggling with GAS, but also feeling like I want a new and/or third body. Right now I’m shooting on an XT3 and an X100V. Love both. I shoot studio portraits and headshots, personal branding photos and the occasional family session. I used to shoot engagements and weddings, but now it’s almost entirely portrait work. I have fallen in love with the rangefinder style of the X100V, and I am eyeing the XPRO 3 and the XE4. If I get the XE4, I can keep my XT3. I’m having a hard time deciding if I should sell my XT3, and get an XPRO 3, keep the XT3 and get an XE4, or just wait and save for the XPRO3 and have three cameras (XT3, XPRO & X100). I’ve also considered the XT4, but I don’t do video, don’t care about IBIS and I just don’t see the upgrade. I like to work very minimalist, and I only have a handful of lenses. I would love your thoughts as to what you would do in my shoes.
@dlovisuals2 жыл бұрын
I’d say keep the XT3 because it is a workhorse camera plus the newest firmware gave it the same autofocus algorithms as the XT4. Personally I’d wait and save up for the X-Pro 3 because it is also a workhorse camera that will pair great with your XT3 for paid work and change lenses on a rangefinder camera. X100V is a great everyday camera.
@babyboy19712 жыл бұрын
@@dlovisuals thank you David. That’s my gut instinct. Even if it takes me a while to save up, the XPRO3 will likely be the best choice. And my XT3 can be a trusty backup.

Totally agree with you 100%. Most EVFs and LCDs struggle with bright sunlight and yet it barely gets mentioned. Certainly manufacturers don't talk about it. The OVF in the X-Pro2 is reason enough for buying it. But add in that it is more reliable than the X-Pro1 and it doesn't lag much behind the X-Pro3 in what it offers. It is still worth considering.
@blood_n_guts_murphy3 жыл бұрын
Also I never see any issues with the 2, whereas many 3 owners have had to return their cam for various defects (often the OVF or LCD). As a traveller it just feels like too much of a risk.

@zhepingwang49543 жыл бұрын
Dear David, I was scratching my head over buying a xpro2 or a xe4. The price difference is literally 100 bucks. Xe4 100 higher. I decided to go for xe4 because: 1: tilted screen. Way more versatile doing street photography. X pro2 doesn’t have it 2: better auto focus. So important doing night street photography and just normal shooting. 3: better censor and processor. Took pictures way faster. 4: 100 gram lighter. Yes it needs a grip but I bought a leather case that has a little grip on it. 5: overall I pay 100 dollars more to get a new camera than buy a 4 year old used camera. 6: I don’t shoot at rain. 7: I like to shoot by looking at LCD than Viewfinder. I’m lazy. 8: touch screen. To be honest, the OVF is good for super sun light condition, but still the magic of mirrorless camera is I got what I see in stead of I may not get what I see from DSLR. It just sounds counterintuitive that you may get shots with incorrect exposure photos because you shoot on OVF but hey the subject is gone. Speaking of the 4 way, the funcwtionality of 4 way became motion gesture on touch screen. ( still prefer 4 way though) Anyway, xe3 has been 4 years and it’s price is still at 60% of its original price, while xpro2 at its 50%. XE4 holds its value better than xpro2 Anyway, both are great camera. What really matters is the head behind the camera right? Haha Thank you for you video again! Cheers from China

I had the XPro1 and then the XPro2. The XPro2 is definitely superior, and if you plan to shoot extensively, is your better bet. At the current used price point, it is a very, very tough camera to beat in terms of handling, features, etc. especially if you are into the rangefinder/street photo genres. There was something unique, however, about the XPro1, and other long time XPro users have mentioned this. There was just a certain feel and image characteristic that crept through now and then. That being said, the XPro2's features beat nostalgia any day, and remains one of my most favourite cameras, so much so that I've skipped buying the XPro3 (unless I find one at half price - ha ha ha), and will consider a future XPro4 instead. If the XPro2 had image stabilization, it would probably still be my main camera for ALL kinds of shooting.

One more thing, that I cannot understand: photography is made on the basis of 3 parameters: aperture, shutter speed and iso. Aperture ring we have on the lens, shutter speed dial we have on the camera body. No ISO ring, but we have exposure compensation ring! Who needs it? When Fuji engineers understand, that there must be iso ring instead of exposure compensation. I think then a lot of people will say say big “thank you” for Fuji.

Fuji has put its focus on GFX. The new x series cameras and lenses seem to just be a money making trick.
@dlovisuals3 жыл бұрын
If the prices of GFX cameras and glass keeps coming down, i wonder if it’s going to stay niche or become more mainstream like FF and APS-C for the average consumer/prosumer?

I guess I like the 70-300mm, a worthy upgrade of my favorite Fuji lens, 55-200mm.

X-Pro 2 is bigger and heavier, it defeats the point of looking at the X-E series which is an X100 that can change lenses. A *new* X-E3 is currently HALF the price of the X-E4 and that is what people should be looking at. Nothing against the X-Pro 2 except size and weight, I just don't think it and WR is what most X-E buyers are looking for.
@dlovisuals3 жыл бұрын
X-E3 still presents the similar issues that I have with the X-E4. Smaller and lighter doesn’t mean it’s better. The same goes for bigger and heavier, it’s all about finding the camera that works for you. For me that’s the X-Pro 2 and for others it might be the same or any other Fuji camera. My needs are different than your needs and their needs
@fredbloggs5453 жыл бұрын
@@dlovisuals I didn't say it was better. It is aimed at those wanting the X100 in a ILC body. A NEW X-E3 is way cheaper than both.

Even if I had the money I don’t think I’d get the x100v because of the missing d pad. I need that shit man. Anyways, I need to spend more time with my xpro2, I’ve been using the100f a lot lately

I’m on the verge of buying x100f or xpro2 graphite....could you please advise on your expert...ergo, battery, evf and AF etc thanks
@dlovisuals3 жыл бұрын
X100F and X-Pro 2 share the same sensor and battery. I personally prefer the ergonomics on X-Pro 2 because it has better grip. The grip on the 100F feels too slippery. EVF on both cameras isn’t super bright. As far as autofocus, it’s about the same between both cameras. Also the X-Pro 2 is weather sealed so if you plan to shoot in rain, then that’s a better choice. I hope this helps!

I've had an X-Pro-2 for years now. It's been a love/hate relationship. Never found much use for the optical viewfinder but it's nice to have I guess. Biggest complaints are the retro-BS combo shutter speed/ISO dial, battery life, and no IBIS. I prefer to shoot in full manual and I like to adjust my ISO on the fly. This camera is just a pain to use like that. It's a street and travel camera... period. With a better sensor and IBIS, if the X-E4 was weather-sealed I'd be tempted. FYI I've never had a Fuji camera (including the Pro-2) that didn't need the optional grip. After 5 years the attraction is wearing off and I'm giving serious consideration to the new Canon mirrorless system and dumping Fuji altogether.

People keep making comparisons between the xe4 and every other fuji camera rather than comparisons between the other 3 cameras in the xe line. That's how you know the xe line of cameras were slept on. The xe4 makes perfect sense when compared to the other xe cameras. I'd take one over an xpro2 in a heartbeat. If you're buying an xe camera, you more than likely have determined that you don't need weather sealing, dual card slots, ovf or a sizeable grip. The funny thing is 99% of my shooting is done with film rangefinders and yet I never use the ovf on my x100v. I might have to give it a try after watching your video though.

Great video. Fugi ruined the xpro3 by removing the d-pad and including a "goofy" LCD screen. They should have kept the d-pad and included an LCD similar to the x100v. Being what it is the xpro2 is great choice.
@dlovisuals3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don’t get the removal of the D-Pad. They even did it on the GFX-100S. The screen on the X-Pro 3 is the most hipster thing I’ve seen since Leica lol

...and the XPro3 over the XPro2
@MikeKleinsteuber2 жыл бұрын
Besides the fact that you make numerous errors during your piece you're also completely ignoring the fact that the X-E4 has a new sensor that totally blows the X-Pro2 away. The XTrans4 sensor is mind blowingly good and, believe it or not, almost as good as the Leica Q2 (and Leica Q2M). Getting hold of this sensor at around $800 makes all the downsides evaporate...
@timholman28702 жыл бұрын
Nah. X-Pro 2 and 3 are big bricks...they feel enormous and clunky. Why complain about a camera being different? Myopic, pointless review. Also could live without the foul language.
