I know a guy who has put almost 400,000 miles on his. The only thing that has gone bad on it was the TPMS sensor. I know another guy who has a Zx14r with 100,000 miles. They are incredibly reliable.

You can find a good used C-14 for not a lot of money. I have had my 2009 since new. It's a good bike.
@LarryMusgrave
@LarryMusgrave Жыл бұрын
There are C14s out there with 300k miles and never been apart. You can find tons with 40-60k miles for around $5k and less. There is no reason not to own one now. Mine is an 18 with tons of mods and had 17k a few months ago, I paid $10,250 plus taxes and tags. But if I were willing to go older, more miles or less mods I could have went much lower. I have a sickness to where I like new or nearly new things, so I wanted new as I could find, as low miles as I could find and I wanted the previous owner to pay for the mods. Mine was tuned with the Mountain Runner, 2 Brothers exhaust, Sargent World seat, T Rex crash bars, and KN air filter. So to me I got a bargain.

Thank you sir. We did an addition to the house about 15 years back, it had a half basement and 2 garage. With the addition, we pushed back 26 feet and the house is 38 feet long, so added 2 bays 13x38. But as they were digging the foundation for that lower level garage addition, they hit an underground spring and needed to dig deeper and set up a multi level French drain.... it was decided that in doing so, they would be pretty much digging enough to consider another layer of garages under that 26x38 upper layer.... so boom! 3 x 26 deep by 12 feet wide bays underneath for 7 total bays. It was all done to facilitate adding bedrooms and office space in the back of the first floor living area, and the house is built on a slow that allows that new rear lower level garages and a split driveway.

@LarryMusgrave
@LarryMusgrave 3 ай бұрын
$1000-$1200 for a valve job and new spark plugs is about typical. That's not a rip off. That said, if your a wrench, you can save around a Grand and cost yourself a weekend day to get to it and get measurements, order new shims and get them by next weekend, spend another full weekend day shimming and getting it back together, and do it yourself.

How are the brakes? Trail braking? If you push it a bit?
@LarryMusgrave
@LarryMusgrave 4 ай бұрын
I'm not a track guy, so I'm not into trail braking. The brakes are extremely strong and also able to be controlled easily. But if you need to get stopped in a big way with 400 lbs of humans on top, she will bite down and nearly toss you over the bars in my 2018. I've picked the rear tire up with front brakes before and the active breaking off.

I've not ridden the K1600GTL, so it would be wrong for me to speak to it. I had a Suzuki V Strom DL1000 and know that for an Adventure bike, it was pretty snappy and fun. The straight cut gears in the transmission made a neat sound similar to a Mustang GT500 supercharger. My next move will likely be a yard H2 SE. That sounds stupid fun, and I'm getting old fast! I need to make my move before I'm just to old.

I was just wondering if it was as fun in the corners like my BMW , my BMW can get a little pricey when it comes to Maintenance ,that’s another reason I’m looking at other sport tours. I have to take a look into that H2 Tour model also :)

I like your choice of motorcycles. I have a 2010 KLR that my wife and I rode to the arctic and then into the USA from Calgary, Canada. We have shipped to Europe and ridden it from the UK to Malta and back. Such a wonderful motorcycle. We also have a 2014 Concours. It’s just fun. So many long rides on that motorcycle. Enjoy your Concours. I have found the Michelin Pilot GT 4 to be good tires. I understand there is a new Pilot 6 GT that may give better wear. I will have to give them a try. I have found the 4’s will last about a season if you miles on and ride in a spirited manner. To bad they are all done I love the shaft drive no mess no fuss. Have fun with your new concours. I hope you find twisty roads they are dream in the curves. Loaded up two up no issues. Have fun!

I have 107k on my 2009 and she still runs like a Swiss Watch. The only things that have failed on it are the front Brake light switch, front Wheel bearings and the Automatic Cam chain Tensioner. Wheel Bearings Costed me $30, Brake Light switch was $30 and I installed a manual Cam chain tensioner for $25. The Valve adjustments are above my skill set to do myself, cost was about $650 each time and they have been done twice. I maintain her at lower intervals than factory recommedations. Full Synthetic oil changes and final drive oil changes every 4k, every 2years I flush brake and clutch fluids (Russell Speed Bleeders are a must) lube throttle cables every year and I use Engine Ice coolant flushing every 2 years. I dont think I would say she is detuned, to be more accurate, she is re-tuned...for more torque in the low and midrange which is where we need the power most. I will most likely ride her till she wont run anymore, Love this Bike! Michelin Road 3, 4, 5 and now 6`s are all i run on her for tires. I have removed the Throttle butterflies, dropped in a K&N air filter, Area P slip on, and a power commander 5 (tuned). I have a Cee Baileys Euro Sport winshield (Tinted) . She is a Gentlemans Beast...

From what I've seen in the C14 FB groups, it's all over the place for the cost, so you need to contact a many local dealers as you have around and ask. I've seen it as low a $500 and as high as $1300. So what a person tells you, kind of doesn't matter. You'll need to see what your local shops are asking, or do it at home yourself.
