that last straw for me was when i saw LITERAL P*RN , naked underage girls and the pedophilia jokes (ex. bubblegum pink) on there and when i reported it , it didn’t get taken down because “the content you reported doesn’t violate our guidelines” that was it for me, i honestly hate that app with my entire being and i also hope it gets banned

My biggest problem when I was on TikTok was seeing people with so much cool stuff and it would make me depressed with how poor I am and how I couldn’t afford everything I wanted. I don’t use it anymore for my mental health and to have less temptation to stray from my faith.

A good idea that I’ve heard from someone is instead of giving your teenager a smart phone or even a flip phone you can get them just an Apple Watch or other smart watch with cellular and they can just use phone calls and talk to text. That way parents and friends can still communicate with them, but keep them off social media apps.

I get those robots with links on every platform. I just delete them. I go to the search engines to look for things that I want to watch, or read. Then I shut things down. I use the platforms for educational purposes. I don't care about other things. I use my section of the upload not for dancing, but for sharing things that I create. Anything else is a waste of time.

I was 14 when i got my first phone and only got a smartphone at 18. I did get social media a 15 because I got an iPad for school. Over the years I have had to take breaks to learn how to not be addicted to it and it wasn't until I gave up social media for Lent in 2022 that i finally broke the hold most social media had on me (however KZbin can still be a challenge at times). I believe overalll it has been easier for me not to get addicted to social media or so badly addicted to it because I only got a smartphone at 18. I did download TikTok for a moment, but as I believe it was around the high point of the pandemic I got overwhelmed and frankly annoyed at the amount of "end times" content and deleted the app. I redownloaded it in 2021 but ended up deleting it again because I did not like the news about it. I only ever made one tiktok and it wasn't a good one. Thank you for talking about the darker side of the app and the consequences it has for teens and younger.

You realize that every other social media platform tracks everything like your ip address . It's not only tik tok. Facebook is literally the same way. They track everything if u read the terms and conditions

My son’s addicted to it and has no qualms admitting it. 😑 He’s 44 yrs old. ☹️I’m not on Tik-Tok for the many reason you’ve already mentioned. Not sure it’ll be banned during the Biden Xi Jinping administration 😒
