Why should I give blood? Every 3 seconds someone needs a blood transfusion and currently only 4% of the population donates despite the fact that 1 in 4 of us will need a blood transfusion at some point in our lives. Rachel will explore the myths surrounding blood donations as well as the incredible benefits that it can have on people through sharing her story.
Rachel was given a shock diagnosis of Leukaemia when she was just seventeen years old. Whilst being in hospital she required and relied heavily on a significant amount of blood transfusions. Whilst in hospital, she wrote a blog called “Rachel Bouncing Back” and told her story through many video blogs with a view to express her experiences with a positive outlook and in turn providing information and advice to anyone else going through the same experience. Rachel has now been in remission for two years and participates in actively trying to encourage people to give blood by telling her story.
