Thank you for the introduction to Turkish language. I wanted to learn this beautiful language 5 years ago but totally forgotten it until the recent news about the earthquake. Condolences to everyone affected by the horrible disaster. Will start my Turkish learning journey this year for sure. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺.

Turkish is not among the 5 most spoken languages. It doesn’t even make it to top #10. I’m learning Türkçe because it is a beautiful language and I would like to one day learn Azeri as I have a lot of friends from Israel and Baku who are from Azerbaycan (Azerbaijan). When I think of Türkçe I think of poetry. I also want to learn Kurdish at some point. I’ve heard there are similarities between the two. Thanks for the video, but remember Turkish doesn’t even make it to top 10 most spoken languages. Azeri and other Turkic languages are seperate from Turkish, and even if they were all one language, still wouldn’t make it to top 5

But the turkish in central asia is so different that one who knows turkish couldnt able to comunicate with them. Only azarbayjani turkish is very similer that you could comunicate. As a turk i thought i should point that out for anyone to not get dissapointed after learning it.

That being said, it is quite easy to adapt to those languages once you learn Istanbul Turkish. I am saying this as a native speaker, I am also familiar with old Turkish, spoken during Ottoman times, so other peoples experiences might differ. I exposed myself to Central Asian languages lately and I am now able to follow Kazakh news, Uzbek TV shows and more. Having a fluent conversation with Azerbaijanis or Turkmens is just a matter of weeks, if not days, without effort. If you go way far to Siberia or China, it gets harder but still much easier to grasp with some Istanbul Turkish background. The grammer is almost the same with different phonetics.

People talk about the fun things, people sell the fun things. Not the reasons, not the real answers. That's what these people have got in their pockets to teach on earth. You can go to Greece and find a similar teacher for yourself. They drink a bit more. '' Cultures '' don't make no man. It hasn't, ever. Does not give you nothing. The reason why people don't drink, if they didn't, is that they fear Allah. Your creator. And so then they do all the other unsymbolic sins and hypocracies. Becouse anyone who has a brain, knows that drugs, including alcohol, is a crime against; all. But for the rest, you can talk to these tradesmen.

Selamlar hocam.

Turkish has one problem: if you dont have clear reasons to learn turkish like a job or profession, and you are interested in turkey and want to invest yourself culturally, I would say persian is a better investment. Admittedly, persian literature is far richer, since ancient times. Turkish art was heavily under arabic and persian influence for centuries. Persian is also the language you should learn if you were interested about different islamic spirituality shown in turkish videos. Rumi and sems tabrizi were both persian. Islamic golden age was in persia, sufism as well as interesting modern spirituality like bahaism spreaded from there. Old turkic culture and people of the steppe(very old, 5000 years ago) are very interesting and illuminating even but connecting to turkish people wont contribute to you because we are pot of cultures and we recently changed as society(also language). We also dont have a rich intellectual class like russia and iran have. Ottoman cultural elite died out and turkey couldnt create a cultural elite like them. You can reach unique perceptions from great people from a different world which is something turkish offers a bit less. Turkey is in touch with west, is a beautiful country, is cheap and easy to reach, has economic and geopolitical importance but I think being very connected to western media isnt a plus. Irans internet use is more isolated which will make one reach a different world and learn more. Turkish is also more difficult than persian.
