As much as I want Kikuo to become more of a household name there’s something almost poetic that he, as a producer, is almost like a taboo. We all know him but we don’t talk about him. He mirrors the haunting subject matter he covers and in a weird way I think he likes it which could explain why he’s so unapologetic and happy with what he does. He’s part of the message he’s saying.

Exactly! Kikuo's music makes me feel in a way no other type of music does. Like you said , the music itself , no matter if you understand the lyrics, tells a story and hole dwelling is one of the best examples of this.

I feel like the reason why kikuo is largely overlook by project diva and the concerts despite being pretty well known and popular in the community is because his works sound so experimental. Project diva and vocaloid concerts play music that ranges from cutesy pop to more edgy punk music, but overall avoids songs that stray too far away from something you would hear on the radio. And while kikuo has some songs that aren't too far off from what can be considered alternative music (love me love me, substitute, tensho shotensho, misfortune seller), all his songs have pretty unusual instrumentation and a horrorque style that would miss the mark trying to market these into a game. I would also like to add that even though project diva doesn't exactly stray away from questionable lyrics songs (eh? ah, sou is dlc in the latest game) a lot kikuos lyrics focus on themes like child abuse (gomen ne gomen) that would probably be a turn off for marketing and overall make the games/concerts less family friendly. To vocaloid, Vocaloid is a product/marketing placement first, and a singer-in-box second, and the marketers seem to want to keep mikus cutesy, bubbly popstar image when making these games, so kikuo wouldn't be a good fit. it's a shame though bc kikuo's work is so interesting to listen to and he's a great producer.

Something that I really like about his songs [besides everything you listed, great video btw!] Is the feelings they give me. They translate well with my feelings of quiet sadness, but the same freeing. Like crying in silence while looking at the moon. Also there are songs that make me feel like I am in the middle of a exorcism, which I also think is great.

i'm so happy this video got into my recommendation! i've been listening to kikuo's music since middle school and i always found him special, at first just because of the themes of his songs, and then while growing up also because i realized how much of a musical genius he actually is. i wish we talked more about him, even if i get why we don't that much. i feel like kikuo is more popular outside of vocaloid actually, like none of my friends is into vocaloid but they all know and even listen to some kikuo's song ;; but in general i wish people would pay more attention to him and understand how amazing he is objectively. i always have trouble process my own emotions and his music never fails to make me feels something, fear, nostalgia, anxiety, dispair, chaos, and even when i don't really understand it, it actually makes me feel less lonely. i'm glad he makes music and i'll definitely keep supporting him for a very long time

I love to deep dive into kikuo’s songs, discovering each and every meaning from the comment section theories, social media and google. I also try to discover meanings of myself in those songs cause he makes songs in a way that can change meanings from the persons perspective. Songs from an abusive realitionship to a non-awakening nightmare, he covers each and every that people avoid talking about which makes it worse. He blesses our ears and the humanity within the meanings.

YES YES OMG Kikuo is a musical mastermind and I think one of the most obvious places for me is in Kara Kara Kara no Kara. The song is about oddly empty thoughts bouncing around inside the singer's head and how absolutely oppressive they feel (at least, that's my interpretation), and the song perfectly encapsulates how that feels. It's an anxious ramble of completely irrelevant sound effects just constantly playing in the background, and the occasional reprive from this that's still fast paced and chaotic. I have anxiety and depression and intrusive thoughts are something I struggle with on a daily basis, and this song just feels so accurate in it's representation of this symptom. I could say more but I feel like I would get redundant if I did.

Great Video dude!! You really did a fab job at going over the smallest of details and getting straight to the point! Props to you!! I really dislike how rude people can be about his music. His darker songs aren't meant to be pleasing or creepy, but they're meant to be gross and disgusting because this is how the subjects of his songs are. I've heard people call him a p*dophile for creating these types of music, and it's upsetting as these people are so quick to judge him for the topics he covers. I think he does an excellent job at conveying the fear, the disgust and the gruelling nature of r*pe, s**cide and other topics that often go unspoken of due to the nature of them. He does such a great job of leaving an impression on those who hear his works. Listening to Kikuos songs definitely leaves you questioning alot of things and seeing certain themes and subjects in a different light. And that's why I absolutely love him as a producer! Although he doesn't have playable music in the Diva or Mirai games, He did actually contribute some music to the OSTS! In project mirai, he produced a track called "NATURE" for the B side section, and it's really pretty!!

I literally can’t listen to Cotton Candy. It terrifies me. I got halfway through it the one (and only) listen & I decided this was one of my rare Kikuo skips.

God I love Kikuo. I feel like he's always written about childhood trauma, whether thematically (O Light, Giant) or literally (I'm Sorry I'm Sorry, And Then You Became The Moon). I also like that he's one of few producers to not shy away from concepts of sex and sexuality. Ignoring the assault themes of I'm Sorry I'm Sorry, there's also A Happy Death, which is clearly a somewhat sexualized and consensual murder a la Armin Meiwes. And Then You Became The Moon is about the death of a child, but also the moon is often a symbol of female puberty and periods, possibly referring to the "you" in the song being able to grow up without the "me" who is dead. He doesn't write about it as much in his more recent work, which is a bit unfortunate, but fair enough. I find it equally disappointing when people just see Kikuo as the "I'm Sorry I'm Sorry guy" who writes the disturbing child sex songs. Frankly, if you want that shit, go listen to Masa-P. His use of music box elements, childish speech (as was used in When I Was Absent From School), and goofy sound effects (Both vocal onomatopoeia as in Don't Look A Me In That Way and literal sounds as in Kara Kara no Kara) creates a childish, almost dreamlike appeal to his music. In essence, Kikuo is auditory surrealism.

I'm curious on how you'd review Mushi-p as he has said before that Kikuo is one of his inspirations, or even Steampianist as they also share the eerie atmosphere.

Which I thought was something to mention idk- which also brings to me, asking, it would be cool for you to make a song about kairiki bear! I was gonna contact you but twitter and discord are blocked at my house lol. Anyway ty! Also thank you so much for making the video about K- - - - - -. I didn’t really know how to view the situation.

As someone who has clinical depression and anxiety,to me a lot of kikuo’s songs are really relatable but some of them to me are just dramatisations of trauma from the affected persons view.
