Bonnie plants suck. Their customer service was very, very rude. They do not think their customers are smart enough to grow plants . I was told “ you can not grow vegetables in Texas in the summer” 😜I have been for years. They said they do not remove their plants when past time if you buy it...” it’s your choice” lol really...I know I can decide that ...but it doesn’t negate Bonnies roll in providing viable plants when they “NEVER” discount plants even after season. NEVER BUY BONNIE PLANTS

And I understand your approach to Bonnie Plants. I appreciate that you take a "grand view" approach to everything. I buy so many of my plants from local nursery's, but there are some unique varieties I get from Bonnie. My favorite tomato of all time, Indigo Rose, was originally from a Bonnie Plant I bought years ago.

I bought my first pepper plant, yellow peppers, but I ate them green. Took too long to turn yellow. They were not bitter. When I brought the plant inside this month there was one pepper on it that had a streak of reddish color. The next time I looked it was yellow. Success!

Your one exception to picking peppers early is my reality. Short growing seasons are my life in North Dakota. I have a few ripe peppers, but I end up picking a bunch green at the end of the season. Thanks to you, though, I am growing a lot more peppers than I used to and fewer tomatoes. I have some banana peppers turning yellow right now. Excited to try them because I had never grown anything adventurous before.

Thanks John! I love growing peppers, and I am in the high Sierra's of Northern California -lots of plastic greenhouses and shade clothe -too hot in summer days, too cool at night, but this year we've actually had a lot of nights around sixty, but sadly that's ending just as all my garden is beginning to set fruit, so the argerous chore of rolling down plastic windows in the afternoon and rolling them back up by day, hoping my plants will finish before first snow, hardest place to grow on earth, lol, with a yard full of 26 eighty foot pines around!

I love hot peppers. I have Trinidad scorpions, Caribbean hot, scotch bonnets, Morugas, ghost peppers, habaneros, jalapenos. Those are so good for pain and all kinds of health problems. The endorphine release makes you feel great. Eat at least one hot pepper a day and you can kiss most of any arthritis and depression goodbye just by chasing the heat. Start with hot jalapenos, work your way to cayenne and serrano then the habaneros. I eat atleast 3 ghost peppers and Moruga or Trinidads a day and a scotch bonnet or habanero. I will eat an entire habanero on one cheese, meat and cracker charcuterie type setup for instance, salsas, hot sauces, dried and powdered on foods. With various meals. Load two on one taco. I love it! Anyway, love your content and you have great info for growing.

I absolutely love your outlook on life! If we were all tolerant of others opinions, we'd be in such a better place. We don't have tons of local nurseries around here, so all the seedlings we found were Bonnie. I'm ok with that and get turned off by other "organic" channels being down on folks who use them.

Like a lot of things, those of us who have severe health issues because of the store bought food have had our understanding focused. We realize the lack of and presence of poison in those foods. People without sever issues can't understand. Even though they are "sick and tired of being sick and tired" it isn't debilitating so they don't clue in. Like a heavy smoker that gives up when he/she gets cancer. Many times we are hungry, not because we need calories, but we are lacking nutrition. Lower nutrition in foods can translate into over eating with respect to calories and thus, weight gain.

John, Growing up I was a dumb kid and thought that green peppers were the way they came. I now grow Serrano chilies and pick them red and the green ones at the end of the season become pickled. A friend from the Philippines said that they use the leaves in salads and I have not tried this yet. I grow from seeds from last year's harvest and this year my plants look great.

There was a bell pepper that was smaller and purple with bright green stripes all over it, and it was very juicy and sweet, yet still had that bell pepper flavor that we had in our garden this year. I can't remember what is was called, but it was just a bit bigger than a habenaro. Normally I don't like bell peppers, but this variant I loved.

Mr. John! I am watching this video because I was wanting some ideas on spacing my Giant Marconi peppers. I am not into buying plants for the quality is subpar and the varieties are not top shelf normally. Also, by the time your finished buying all the stuff that you incorporate, and then your plants, your cost per pepper goes up astronomically. lol Get a good T5 grow light setup and get to work.

Can your grow pepper from rotted fruit slices (that provide nutrition to seed) like tomatoes? My garden is filled (25 plants, more late season seedlings than I can count) with tomats that I grew from about 6 overripe/rotten tomato slices. Just stuck em in the ground and they ALL sprouted (98%).

Quick question....i hope you can answer. I planted bell peppers next to a jalapeno pepper plant once without knowing the consequences. The flavor was excellent though!!! My question is, does it compromise the fruit mixing like that? (like you cant mix bleach and amonia...im still alive obviously from the bell & jalapeno) but does it do anything to the fruit that we should not be doing???

I also use peppers (sweet, not hot) in fermented veggies. Cabbage, celery, peppers and such, but NOT green peppers. The alkaloids that you mentioned really make the ferment taste awful. I have bought whole mature plants with lots of ripe fruit on them. they are stored upside down and mature and dry. Kept in a cool dry place they keep til spring. I just picked last year's plant and ground the peppers in a coffee mill and used as powdered.
