@@KickItNaturally But I felt that your explanation failed to mention the obvious: if someone is not producing the best bile to flow down into the small intestines to neutralize the acidic "clump" now entering therein, then why not tjust ake a bile capsule or Tudca WITH the meal to compensate for any forthcoming lack thereof at the exit ramp? If the "sizzle" that takes place between the acidic stomach acids and alkaline bile capsule happens in the stomach, then so what? Isn't breaking down the food a little bit more aggressively in the stomach with the introduction of the bile cap just one step ahead of the game before the "clump" makes its exit?

Hello, I really appreciate your Contant and have watched several videos now. Are used to take a lot of HCL and OX BILE to help with my digestive issues. However, I think the underlying issue of the sludge in my bile not flowing properly has been the core issue. Hi @Destroying Anxiety, yeah, using ox bile can help digest fats with that meal, but doesn't do anything to thin bile out so you can restore that natural bile function. Well, it's complicated, isn't it? Trial and error, experimentation. Apparently my family has bile acid malabsorption issues (no real test for this in the US)-manifests as diarrhea. I thought I had escaped it until I was in my 40s and thought I'd just gotten food poisoning. Very, very long story short...I have to take cholestyramine (a prescription bile acid binder)-that only helps some. Thru trial and error I also figured out that I have to take digestive enzymes and a pretty significant amount of Betaine HCl also. Once I got the dosage right on the Betaine HCL, my rolling/churning gut quieted down and I started digesting/absorbing food again. I've tried cutting down on the dosage-my poop quality just slowly starts going bad and we are back to diarrhea again.

Good info. I’ve never seen the chemistry of betine HCl actually explained: how does it dissociate the HCL? Is it a salt? The betine enzyme is 100x larger than a single HCl molecule so the amount of HCl should be negligible. Most likely the effect comes from the betine enzyme helping to digest protein only.

Yeah, @Jan, if someone is having significant signs of poor bile flow like loose or light colored stools, I will have them fix that first. But as long as someone is taking steps, like Beet Flow, to thin the bile, they can usually test out the HCL to see if it makes stool loose or anything like that. I have had “silent” reflux for a period of time I’m not even sure. It then lead to periods of indigestion. After awhile, it would cause stomach pain with foods I normally ate. Didn’t even know it was reflux. Until in late March I had awful abdominal pain that didn’t really subside. My dr started me on omeprazole because I was getting reflux into my esophagus, back of my mouth and was spitting it out too. Ever since then, I’ve had repeated bouts of indigestion and nausea, early satiety, decreased appetite but not vomiting. Stools have been mostly normal. My reflux has gotten better but I’m worried about it slowing down my digestion or creating unnecessary gas/pains, indigestion due to too low stomach acid. I’ve been on omeprazole for 8 weeks and I want to get off of it, I’m worried about rebound hyperacidity so I’m tapering down slowly. This video was very helpful to better understand

I thought my whole issue was not having enough stomach acid from years of PPIs and tums, so when I started supplementing Betaine HCL, it felt like the burning was going beyond my stomach, more to my mid upper abdomen plus nausea about 3-4 hours later. This explains all the dehydration I feel (feel like I’m hungover even though I stopped drinking in 2018). More loose light colored stools.

I've had great result from Thorne Bio-Gest, which contains both betaine HCl & bile salt. I'm wondering how these two work together since the former is acidic and the latter is alkaline. Does the neutralization process take place only when all the digestive process is finished in the stomach and the food is ready to go down to duodenum?

I am taking digestive enzymes for painful indigestion and they are working for indigestion but I still have bloating, burping and gas. The enzymes also contain ox bile and betain hci (that's hci, not hcl). (I'm trying so hard to understand how this digestion works!) I saw in another video that may not have been yours that you shouldn't take ox bile orally b/c it will break down the acid while in your stomach instead of waiting until it reaches the small intestine and thus you will not have good absorption of nutrients. So... my question is should I get the enzymes w/o ox bile and betaine? I have both, but I thought I needed the acid. Sometimes awhile after I've eaten I get reflux and watered down pickle juice or even a pickle will help that-- as does mint or raw, unsweetened coconut chased with water. 😊

HI @Donna garner the video about taking bile away from food was probably mine. If it wasn't you can watch mine here and it will help you understand: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHbLi5x4epeGeMU Digestive enzymes are a crucial piece of the puzzle, but is someone i having significant discomfort, enzymes are never going to be enough to fix that. You are likely dealing with a bacterial overgrowth that needs to be handled and if you are benefiting from taking ox bile, you probably need to thin your bile so your natural bile function will work. Your best bet would be to go through our totally free digestion course because that will walk you through figuring out which aspects of digestion are not working correctly and what steps will help you the most. You can find that free course here: kickitnaturally.com/course That will also teach you the right timing for everything and make it a lot easier to understand. Things like pickle juice or ACV can give a little boost, but are usually not enough to correct major issues. Come back and let us know how it goes.

i read that in the US, Betaine HCL was banned OTC. What's that all about? And here in Australia where I live, I can't find it in any local chemists/shops - the only place I can get it is online. Surely if it was that good, it would be more readily available for purchase? And when I go to buy it online, there are quite a number of 5 star reviews, but also an uncomfortable amount of 1 star reviews for varying reasons. It's all rather confusing.

If you have liver issues look into Milk Thistle and Choline NAC and Dandelion. The best for that and possibly Tudca . The liver is one of the few organs that can repair itself with diatery changes eating healthy mostly plant based and reduce carbs and sugar and seed oils like vegetable oils and use extra virgin olive oil only . If you had H Pylori I suggest you get a SIBO breath test too as it could be another hidden culprit mistaken often for IBS

Interesting. I have been working hard on trying to figure out my fat digestion problem. For most of the time, I thought that it was a liver problem, because I couldn't tolerate fat. The fatty meal would sit in the stomach for up to 10 hours. Digestive enzymes helped a bit, but hadn't resolved the problem. Of course, I thought that the stomach function is involved as well. Recently, I suspected more, that it was not making enough acid. And since it potentially didn't make enough acid, the bile production might have not been made to adequate amounts as well. Having gone through the imaging of the abdominal area and the liver and biliary tree looking normal; and liver enzymes that still were not too high- I was not sure what to think. I was forced to pretty much avoid all fat for the most part. Having ruled out the pancreas's lipase for the most part, I thought that the liver might not make enough bile. I came across the video about the sphincter of Oddi. I massaged it for several minutes and it was like a light switch flipped right away. I started eating again- my fatty meals left the stomach in 2.5 hours at some point. My appetite returned. This made sense, the sphincter was closed, and was just sipping through tiny amount of bile. Since there was no bile, the stomach would not release food, so not to damage the tract. It would be released over the entire day. When the sphincter opened up, the stomach could release all of the contents now. Of course, the liver still felt strained after these fatty meals, but when I increase the artichoke leaf extract- this problem was pretty much gone. I kept massaging the sphincter every day, to make sure that it remained flexible and not in a spasm. But then I ate a bit too much fat, and the food sat in the stomach for 7 hours. I felt very fatigued. It was very disappointing after such success. I am guessing that the liver is still weak, in terms of providing adequate amounts of bile. But also, I may need to increase the stomach acid more, since I was low on iodine. I understand it is needed to make stomach acid. Do you have any thoughts about this? I am thinking of getting some milk thistle.
@KickItNaturally
@KickItNaturally Жыл бұрын
This oddi issue seems to be more about low stomach acid. It doesn't open correctly because the food getting acidified is what should signal it to open. But trouble with fats is USUALLY more about poor bile flow. Milk thistle is great to help a liver, but doesn't really do anything to thin bile so it will flow correctly. This video will show you how to thin the bile so it will flow correctly: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3PHh2mQiZ6qpbM It's really common when one side of digestion malfunctions, it will cause problems for the other side as well. Also, you would benefit from just going through our totally free digestion course to fully access what aspects of digestion need improvement and what steps will help you the most. that will vary from person to person. You can find that free course here: kickitnaturally.com/course Let us know how it goes.

@@KickItNaturally Thanks Tony. I will give it a look. I am not sure if you describe this in the book, but are you aware of any tests to see if the liver is making enough bile? The only thing I am aware of it the bile salt(or acid) test that looks in the blood. Also, is there a way to tell if there isn't enough bile vs. poor bile flow? I think the symptoms would be the same.
@KickItNaturally
@KickItNaturally Жыл бұрын
Hi @ImperialBear, I don't know of any tests, but this video on 10 signs can give you a lot of indications: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4rWXqyXot-rrpI and you can find 10-parameter urinalisys test strips on amazon and test your urine to see if you have bilirubin or urobilinogen on the dipstick. Either of those is a slam dunk for bile not flowing correctly. and I talk about that in my books and courses. and you are right that either problem can cause the issue, but I can tell you that after working with thousands of clients and book readers and course takers, I've seen about 4 people who needed help producing more bile. All the rest saw improvement when working to thin the bile. So I'm quite convinced. Be sure to check back in and let us know how it goes.

Great explanation on how our digestive system works. My wife is 62 and unfortunately had her gallbladder removed because of stones back in early 1990's. Since then our doctors have NEVER given her anything to control stomach acid and she has been suffering for many years and been on Gavescone which is an alkaline and this unfortunately caused acid reflux and the doctor recommended she take more nasty pink liquid to combat this but it actually made her worse. My wife has very loose stools or acidic yellow liquid. Our health system is rubbish I'm afraid so I did some research and now when she suffers acid reflux I give her apple cider vinegar. And to help with her stomach acid I give her TUDCA & Choline together straight after her meal and now her stools are regular and normal for the last 3 weeks. Should I introduce TMG / Betaine or leave it as is.

I think anything is possible, but it would be more likely if a loose stool is happening. But that is why I don't let any clients use HCL unless they are taking the steps that I know work well to thin bile to ensure it's flowing correctly. But I would look at this video on signs of poor bile flow to see any show up. If they do, I would be aggressive about thinning bile so it will flow correctly: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4rWXqyXot-rrpI Let us know how it goes.
