Love the honesty! They are frustrating, I agree. Here in zone 6A just north of you, we’ve used them inside the hoop house for double protection on those super cold nights. Also, keep the conduit around - there might be a time where you just need minor protection with fleece, insect netting, or floating row cover. Just found your channel a couple days ago; your content is great.

Oh yea for sure definitely helpful for an extra tunnel inside of big tunnel. I know I’ll use the materials eventually but man how I despise low tunnels as a sole source of crop protection lol

I use poly low tunnels for a number of market garden beds. Put together well they can hold up to heavy winds, snow loads ect. Mine have made it through countless Maine storms/ winters in good shape. You should be using a layer of insulating row cover under your plastic for better cold protection. In warmer weather the plastic is rolled back allowing the fabric row cover to protect everything while allow water/air transfer. I am able to pick carrots/ beets/ rutabaga ect through the entire winter in Maine using these simple tunnels. Keep experimenting and you may come around to seeing their usefulness.

They definitely work but I just hate them for farming. Definitely a viable option for gardeners or homesteaders but at scale they are pure misery

That’s so funny… I was thinking that this video was going to help me convince my husband to build these for next winter. Hahahaha Thank you! You saved us a LOT of work and hard earned money!

Great Review, in my area it would not last so I don't grow until spring if I had the money I would build a large green house and make raised beds.

That had me laughing. Sorry it hasn't been good for you Dirk! I had kind of thought the same thing. But the allure of getting extra days to grow has really tempted me. But like DSalters said, you may want to hang on to them and use them inside your hoop house. I've heard that works well and will allow you to get a lot of extra warmth.

For sure. Definitely going to hang onto them. I know they will come in handy eventually and I can use for other random projects or repairs around the farm

U need to make it clear that they 100 percent do work. If you live in alabama Georgia Mississippi and Florida they absolutely work. Idk where u live but it looks so cold u need a heater in the green houses....

Hey man just discovered your channel, its helping me a lot thank you. I had a quick question. I planted a few raspberries plants last summer about ... 18 feet or so from my garden. Now i'm a little worried it might invade my garden. I have read a few tricks to avoid this, such as digging a trench around the plants and cut the runners as they show up. But I still have the time to replant the raspberries somewhere else. Do you think it will be a problem for my garden? Should I replant those guys far away? Cheers man.

Thank you!! I’m removing and replanting my blackberry row for the same reasons. It’s up to you on that. You could fight it for another year and see if you can manage them close to your garden and if not then just replant them elsewhere next winter

@@tannerfarmstead Thanks for the answer! Ahhh ... I might replant them somewhere else while its time just like you. I think its a better idea. Cheers !

Problem is your design. Low tunnels when built correctly are incredible. Each arch should have a bungee strap design. Look it up.
