I would never move to Austin, it's extremely hot, traffic is awful, there are no mountains, and it has gotten way to expensive to live there. It also has very high property taxes and for someone older it's like getting a square peg into a round hole. Austin isn't all that it is cracked up to be.

I agree too. I just went back for a bit to visit and I can't see the big whoop about it. It was tripple digits. Felt dry as hell (I like humidity being from the coast) and just felt like a concrete jungle in the city and flat boringness on the outside. Annnnd won't no black people. Lol. After having lived in Seattle for 5 years I'm done with feeling so isolated from culture.

Originally from Illinois I moved to Houston in 2008 and enjoyed the diversity and people were nice met cool black folks in the city. Recession hit and ended up finding a job in Austin which was a BIG mistake. I ended up having to look for another job after the one I got did layoffs. The workplace here is racist as f..k. Walked into interviews people acted like they never seen a brotha before. One guy though I was lying on my resume/portfolio another said I wouldn't fit in "their" group when they go out for happy hour (YES HE SAID THAT). Also if you are a single black man you will die alone here the dating scene is horrible here. Finding a sista like in the video is next to impossible you got to go to Houston and Dallas. Austin is mostly White, Latino, Indian, women and they don't date brothas like that. I currently have a good job at the moment here but now that we have remote options I am thinking of relocating back to Houston or to Dallas I can't take this sh** no more....lol. The Keep Austin Weird slogan is code for "Keep Austin "WHITE". 😉

Ive noticed the Hispanics mostly hate on blacks and dont try to hide it. They look at us funny ,they wont give us jobs plus you hardly ever see any interracial relationships which is the key to progress being shown.The intention is obviously to make us feel unwelcome! The men might like black women but universally as far as black men,they hate us! Ive found that the women will date black men but you gotta have money or they wont bother and since so many black men are not successful they probably just assume the worst. Also there are not many jobs in Austin either because of the Blowback of illegal immigration driving down wages or taking jobs completely.The people are strange enough to shut down the entire city for whatever reason just because the temperature drops to 30 degrees .How you supposed to get to work if the bus lines shut down.How are you supposed to work and pay your bills if the place you work at is closed,How do you get essentials if Walmarts closed? Plus during all of this you might freeze from your power going out!

As a black male the percentage of black ppl in a city is the biggest thing I look at. I noticed ppl that come from places where they're hardly any blacks tend to be more bold with their racism, & get bold when they have black males outnumbered. Will say it's a day & night difference in how other races treat black males & black females. Not saying black females don't face racism, but the black male is viewed as a way bigger threat.

So many of you would hate San Francisco. I highly believe that Houston & Austin has gotten more expensive because of the san franciscans that have come there. These people are used to spending more. San Francisco was so overpopulated that that the prices rose so bad. Now they're going to Austin because they want another wealthy environment with lower cost. But the problem is when more people move to one area they raise the costs all over again so people can never relax.. Also, SF is so white, asian, and status biased.

@@pictureportia 🤣 Girl it's a great place to visit! It's just not a great place to settle down. Don't worry you'll enjoy your time here you just won't meet any genuine connections unless you're wanting to network. Lol it's easy to find people that want to hang out (sleep with you with no commitment) and people that want to hang out (to look like they have a bunch of friends). You'll have fun but you won't meet a lot of genuine people unless you are rich or live an influencer lifestyle which you do to somewhat degree.. The moment they find that out they will want to show you the best time and get extra friendly! Btw, The majority of people you will find will be Asian and white. You will see how few black people show up after work hours. If you go to Oakland you'll find more genuine connections. Lol San Francisco is not so diverse anymore. That diversity went to the outlying Bay area. Just a heads up. There are a lot of cultural activities and and live music going on in Oakland which is always cool. You'll find a lot of that at Lake Merritt without even trying to look for it. If you want a party in a party party in the mission eat Mexican food in the mission Party on Polk street for good variety of drinks. Go to temple nightclub There's a lot of good looking people that go there. (There is a dress code but nobody follows it to a T. Just no tennis shoes or Casual clothes.) They have 2 floors the top is for house music and the bottom is for hip hop. There's also this pretty little cafe old cafe near the Golden Gate bridge if you want to take your travelers photravelers photos. That way you don't have to struggle to get your shot avoiding every passerby in your shot. If you won't go to Italian food go to A18 ( People keep telling me about that place and they won't shut up about it) and go to Gio's gelato they have authentic Italian gelato and it's amazing! They made me like a flavor I used to not even like. Lol And if you like ice cream go to salt and straw! Also public transit here is versatile and it's better than driving! Unless you have money to waist. Get a Bart pass online a use your phone to scan for transit. Actually here's the app link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clippercard.mobile.clipper People here drive like people in Dallas.(Angry) Lol I hope this helps!🤣😁

Austin is a beautiful city, but the lack of Black folks is a very real thing (although Black people are out in the suburbs around Austin). Noice video! I lived in Austin and had similar experiences. I am considering moving back and wonder if I will rediscover the same things that were cons for me. I definitely became a cyclist person in Austin, doing weekly group rides and I have seen soooooo many concerts there. And the randommest things will just happen just in the street. The food for me was the same, I began to just eat at the same restaurants which as a vegetarian Austin has variety but eating out is costly and I am a good cook so not a draw to move back. I feel like what I realized about being black in Austin was that there was a disconnect in relatability that I would feel the need to educate my peers about often and little things like finding a barber or pronouncing my name very often. Currently in Atlanta my home city and considering Charlotte, NC for diversity (culture and age spread) but I have great Austin memories that scratch at my decision-making process. Well I would go as far as to suggest that if they played music that said they didn't fing want you there or whatever it was exactly....it was nothing more that coincidence. You're assuming racism and it's simply isn't the case. There is just no way that would go down like that. And considering you're taking about Austin where they are very accepting of everything and everyone...just no. I'm not being mean but this kind of stuff is why a lot of people in the surrounding area don't like people from California and the like. Most normal people in Texas don't like identity bs. Now I will say that it's possible to be treated rudely if they know you're from out of state. It could be that they play that music for that reason but I can promise you it had nothing to do with being black.

@@ohnooze1871 OK no picture.. Gaslighting doesn't change reality just because you wanted to. If you weren't there you cannot speak speak to that experience. Also it also if you are not black and you have never experienced racism, that is not surprising. I'm assuming you are not black with this choice of choice of photo. You're telling somebody what they experienced in reality is fake based off of your own judgments because of what you have not experienced. That does not make sense. And the fact that you're hiding behind a photo that is not you not you says a lot on its own.
@ohnooze18712 жыл бұрын
@@FreedomUninterrupted Okay let's talk about this. First she said there was a song playing singing about "we don't want you here" or something along those lines. She assumed it was directed towards her because she's black. That's called an assumption with absolutely nothing to back it up. That's demonizing people based off of assumptions. It's feeling vs facts and the simple truth is that wasn't directed at her no matter how she feels about it. Honestly it's just stupid and self-centered to believe that they were playing it because of her. Sorry but that song was not directed at them...it simply did not happen that way. Yes I'm white and yes I know how white people act and generally how they think. Yes there are crappy and racist people out there but the odds of this happening because of her being black is extremely slim to none and that's being generous. Why is it we always assume everything is about race these days? Someone gives someone of a different color a bad look and it's automatically racist. What if they are just an a-hole which is a lot more likely. If you look for race in everything you're going to see it, even if it's not there. Don't bother coming back at me with a bunch of feelings. If you can't speak logic I'm not interested. Edit And by the way I didn't say it didn't happen. Though I do question the honestly behind the story. But it is a fact that she's making assumptions. Her feelings don't dictate reality. Sorry that's not how the world works.
