I played SnS in World and rise and it’s my go to… but idk in wilds it just feels lackluster after rise… I want a cool move that feels great to land and outside of falling bash it doesn’t feel impactful to me; just no “oooo” Switching back to bow ; I loved the dragon piercer wound break , tracking arrows, and thousand dragons Or trying my hand at CB because it feels good too; been wanting to learn it but I always went back to SNS but in wilds so far it feels good.

You can actually do a spinning reaper into an empowered charged chop for maximum damage; the lateral slash combo into a spinning reaper, then empowered charged chop was the highest damage combo we managed to find during the demo. You can then hit triangle to do a rising slash after the empowered charged chop and loop the combo all over again. Another super awesome thing with SnS now is you don't have to press guard to do the backhop anymore! While in focus mode, you can just hold back and hit O, no guarding required or awkward angles to consider This version of SnS is already shaping up to be my absolute favorite so far

I think I could really end up liking Sword/Shield but it was my worst weapon in the Beta. I didn’t do a good enough job to learn the combos and ended up spamming basic combos waaayyy too much… Also I got punished so much miss timing my back step and where you charge in and launch yourself up. I kept gettting swatted out of the sky which felt really bad. In general it felt pretty survivable though! So much ability to move and dodge. Using potions while your weapons are out is nice too!

in the perfect rush you can skip to the spinning reaper and you can get the powered charged chop after, in the triangle cambo you can get the powerd charged chop after the last attack, and after a perfect block youu can gp the spinning reaper to the powered charged chop, and i believe there is something after breaking a wound with a focus attack too .

@renaldoawes2210
@renaldoawes2210 3 ай бұрын
It is, but its easier to time now. Perfect rush isn't optimal for damage, but we got a new combo to use instead y into y+b into hold y+b. You can just repeat that over and over again constantly. Between that combo and evading slash from block and our ability to mount monsters I think SnS is in a good spot. Not an S tier weapon for strictly damage, but S tier for solid damage + amazing utility. Speaking of utility. That block? I don't know how effective it'll be against other monsters, but dude that block is fucking crazy in the beta. You turned one shot attacks into chip damage with no jewels or upgraded gear. SnS is such an easy weapon to pick up as your secondary weapon, and a valid main, even if a bit boring due to how easy the combos are to pull off. Even perfect rush is literally unmissable.

4:50 Charged Chop is empowered by anything that can be considered a combo finisher; whether it's the 4th triangle, spinning reaper, the shield bash combo finisher, the lateral combo finisher. Interestingly, if you replace the Perfect Rush's combo ender with it, it also gets enhanced.
@CrossoftheRavens
@CrossoftheRavens 3 ай бұрын
Hate to be a downer but, much with SnS is not looking good so far. Perfect rush has been so aggressively nerfed that it is a DPS loss in every situation you could use it over just using the lateral slash combo> spinning reaper> charged chop. The I-frames of the backhop have also been significantly cut. KO damage of the shield has been greatly cut, and apparently in the full version its been already confirmed that shield damage will no longer receive the sharpness modifier, which also means as the game progressed perfect rush will fall off even more in damage compared to other options. The shield bash combo and lack of viable shield attacks also have the side effect of hurting sharpness management more. Its not all bad news though. Movement feels great, and the added mobility with focus mode and the normal slash repositions are good as well as being able to use the back hop directly from focus mode. The focus strike in general is very functional and even works vs partially tenderized parts to accelerate wounds. Perfect guard and the guard changes over all are amazing. The counter slash is actually decent damage for how frequently you can access it from parry chains. Hopefully some of these things are/are being addressed by release. Still had a lot of fun with it though. Its far from unusable. It is just a bit disappointing of what feels like a lot of overcorrections from past strengths.

I agree that on the mobility, mounting and defense side S&S has seen significant improvements (like all guarding weapons). One thing no-one has talked about yet however is elemental damage : -maybe- S&S will scale better with elemental damage and that's why it felt underwhelming with the RAW damage weapon we had in the beta? Stacking elemental damage with a million cuts just sounds right to me.

Everything felt very unrewarding, especially while watching my friend spamming with LBG and constantly wounding. I really hope I'm missing something 😅

I feel like sns’s bread and butter is actually its ability to open wounds and punish them. I also felt like no single move was doing a lot of damage, but I never had to let off the gas with it which feels so cool, just squirreling around the monster the whole time. Your focus strike when not targeting a wound is also amazing at opening new wounds, probably the most viable focus strike in the game for actual normal damage. Hoping there’s little tweaks to up its dmg output and rotation, but the kill times were still somewhat competitive imo
@RawxstarGaming
@RawxstarGaming 3 ай бұрын
Also, Y combo is basically useless imo, Y’s secret sauce is its ability to reposition you as you deal out damage. Once I started focusing on the B combo in to spinning reaper, and getting stuns off of launches, it really up’d my hunt times

If your definition of a classes' difficulty is how quickly a noobie can go from learning the class to killing monsters, then sure, SnS is a good class for beginners. However, if your definition is a player being able to tap into and effectively draw out the true power of the weapon, then no, SnS is definitely not a beginner friendly class.

Slower than before. Even less range than before. Zero damage across the board. PR got neutered. Sidewalk Slash is worse than Spiral Slash in every conceivable way. Infinite Combo is redundant since both World and Rise had ways to keep the combo going. Charged Chop into Rising Slash was the only way to deal any damage which makes the weapon more one dimensional than Frostcraft SnS in Iceborne Speedruns. It's shocking how weak, unsatisfying and simply just not fun SnS was in the beta, especially after what Gen 4 and 5 did for the weapon.

My only thing is I wish Perfect Rush felt a little stronger, for the animation commitment. I do agree it needs an explosive finisher or something, but such a stand out weapon!

SnS didn't get many huge changes but the few small changes are game changers. Mobility durring regular slashes, perfect guard & charged chop are all awesome! After trying out my favorite weapons in the beta, I don't think I'll ever switch out SnS & Bow. Having both at all times is absolutely perfect.

Since MH1 SNS is a SUPPORT weapon where you can use items when the weapon out while you still hitting monsters immediately after. But since MH World, it's now a Hard to master weapon due to the new moves and you can use slinger shots with any weapon out and you heal using environmental interactions.

Ah yes, DarkHero2 spreading the good word of SnS to the people. This is gonna be a good video Edit: since the question was asked about how SnS players feel about the weapon and I am a SnS player... it is probably the best iteration of the weapon to me. While I fell in love with it in World, I'd say World/Iceborne is my least favorite version of it. Rise/Sunbreak is far above it to me and I'm glad that Wilds is mostly building off of that version with Spinning Reaper returning, Roundslash being our main non-Focus Mode turn around move. I'm also of the mind that I really do like SnS more when it isn't trying to be super flashy, so I'm glad that these additions aren't the most flashy things ever. They are practical. The changed triangle/X button combo makes it so that pressing that button 3 times isn't actively trolling anymore, Charged Chop is a big attack to place if you have an opening and Sliding Swipe is great for closing the distance while keeping up damage. They are super appreciated changes for its player base, not big flashy moves to hopefully make it appeal to a wider audience.

Perfect guard really put SnS over the top imo. The versatility of SnS is now unmatched, and it really shines in all departments. Only gripe I got with the Wilds version is I think they missed out on having the World version of P-rush. Would have been nice to have a empowered finisher version of the worlds last hit on P-rush, especially if you landed it on a wound.

i played with every weapon in wilds and SnS was one of the weapons that i thought was a bit overtuned. but unlike say the bow (a weapon that i think needs the window for its perfect dodge cut in half as its way too easy to land) i am happy with SnS being a bit overtuned, its always been an "unsung powerhouse" of the MH games i think it would be an interesting change of pace for it to be a known powerhouse

Conclusion in comments. Real Main SNS (I think he's a DPS SNS): It's suck very awful. (same me) Normal SNS player (I think he's a Support SNS): wow it's good so much mobility. Mathematic player: It's suck, the game progressed PR will fall off even more in damage, slower PR it's affect to timing when bossing if you know, you know.

sns flow is very strong you can perfect guard and do counter damage you can back-hop to abuse those i-frame you can ko have a lot of potential to deal ton of damage the most mobile weapon imo the only thing sns lack is flashy move but if you don't care about that then there is nothing to dislike in this weapon

I feel like I’m being pranked seeing people say SnS felt great. I’ve been an SnS main since 4U and my first impression in Wilds was how awful it felt, and that didn’t improve much after using it more. I went back and played a little GenU earlier today and it was night and day how much better SnS felt in that game.

Can you please elaborate? I genuinely dont ser how having tons of new moves would feel worse (oils aside).

@@evilfurionA lot of it is just the speed and impact of the hits. Even just the normal attacks feel really good in GenU. They feel a lot worse in Wilds, like you’re hitting the monster with a wet noodle. Perfect rush has been slowed down and has been nerfed to the point it’s not worth doing, compared to the jumping slash in GenU that feels really really good. That’s already enough, but then you have all the oils and hunter arts like shoryugeki and sword dance on top of that.

@@Graestradude I feel the same; it’s not like the move sets terrible or anything but nothing felt impactful or good to use …like I mained SNS for rise and World I did SNS and Bow…. And bow in wilds feels cool and SNS feels like a wet noodle; yeah I can do all these moves but nothing feels impactful

I don’t understand this opinion myself, also a very long time SnS user and I feel like Wilds is the best its ever felt. World’s versatility for it was unbeatable, but if they don’t change that side of things much, it’s going to be just as versatile but now with a much smoother moveset that doesn’t feel as restrictive as past games. And finally perfect rush got knocked down a peg, the PR spam meta was a dark period for SnS, I’m glad it’s gone.

Hm.. sadly its one of my least favourite weapona in Wilds do far. Which is weird as SnS used to be one of my main weapon. It just feels worse in Wilds compared to World and especially Rise.

I have seen a bunch of videos about how "sns is terrible in wilds" but it's literally the best it's ever been. Even without shoryugeki and oils it still feels really fluid and powerful.
