I love Lightroom and agree with everything you said about it’s usability, though I totally disagree with your statement that it’s a ‘bargain’… I get educator’s discount which in the UK is just under £10/month, but I’ve been paying that since Oct 2017 (4 years), and I’ve already paid about £500 into Lightroom/Photoshop and that’s only ever going to keep going up. I paid £300 outright for Final Cut Pro for video editing over 7 years ago and I’ve never once had to pay another penny to get it on new computers or to get updates etc. Subscriptions are an easy way for companies to keep milking money and I wish they’d give us an option for Lightroom Classic and Photoshop as a pay outright model, but other than that, it’s great! 🤣🤷‍♂️

Yeah I guess that’s a good point, when you start adding up that $10 per month over years it can get a bit more expensive

I personally import my raw files, do my work, get my exports and remove everything from Lightroom when I open it up next time before importing another shoot I did. This way, I can go back to working on the images I edited in the next couple of days/weeks, but they don't clutter the library. Though keeping everything in there would be great if I did that like you did with everything organized, since I find myself going back on shots from months ago from time to time. At least I still have my metadata on the raw files to guide me! I think it would be a great addition to your playlist if you guys also covered the Color Grading panel in Lightroom. I can't quite wrap my head around how it works.

Good strategy if that works for you, you can make Lightroom work however you like! We’ll take a look at tackling that Color panel, thanks!

Haven’t tried it. I was using DPP up until about 6 years ago when I switched to LR.

Eric, do you use the Lightroom Cloud backup alone or can you also make backups to your computer/external drive as well?

We both use external drives for backup.
