This was really informative and very useful. I'm going to start doing that once I finish typing this. Thank you, Anthony.

Thanks, Anthony ... Tip: Hold down Alt/Option key when you create the rules, it gives you a much more detailed search ability.

Thanks Anthony for another great video. @husamejle thank you also. I knew LR smart collections could handle Boolean logic but I couldn’t find any documentation.

Thanks for this, never realized this could be done, but I can see several uses I can employ. Thanks again.

Never used them. Now I will. Thanks

Something I haven't done but recently created a few and like 'em. E.g. by camera/lens or focal length. I especially like the latter as I can see where I typically use a zoom lens at. Thanks.

Hi Anthony, great video on Smart Collections. I see you have lots of Folders. Scott Kelby preaches one Catalog and (basically) one Folder. That makes a lot of sense to me, to avoid chaos and duplicate work. It seems that there is nothing you can do with Catalogs and Folders that you can’t do with the more flexible and “safer” Selections. Would you agree? Even for deleting, you mark those photos in Selection work and delete them in the one Folder based on that marking. Comments?

With the huge changes LRC and PS have undergone, are you thinking of redoing the playlist for each and bring each module up to date?

Brilliant...and I think this is the only was to find photos without keywords...🤔 Is there any other way to find all photos without keywords in a catalogue?

Smart collections are a great way to work. I use it with keywords

This is very Itunes like. Used to use those for various smartlists on my Ipod

Interestingly we can also import smart collection settings too

Does smart collections only come with Lightroom classic? I do not see it in Lightroom cc. Thank you.

Do smart collections sync with the cloud version of lightroom?
@superhero24762 жыл бұрын
No
@barrycooper59892 жыл бұрын
@@superhero2476 thanks, I think there may be a somewhat complicated plug in.
@superhero24762 жыл бұрын
@@barrycooper5989 I don’t know if any plugins are available. Anyways regular collections will sync with Lightroom cloud. So if you need to sync a smart collection, you may have to duplicate a regular collection out of the smart collection you created manually.

I have 800k pictures but do multiple smart collects slow down LRC?

Since lightroom is constantly updating smart collection does this slow down Lightroom?

I still use Google picasa because it’s perfect for me. One of the great things is albums by keywords. Can Lightroom smart collection be from a keyword tag?
@wahabdilawar2 жыл бұрын
YES

Smart Collections didn't work for me at all in Lightroom Classic CC. I tried to make a smart collection of images greater than 9.8mb and it pulled in images much smaller than that. My rule was: size - megapixels - is greater than - 9.8. Lightroom pulled 8MB images into the smart collection. Why can't Adobe just give us the option to sort by file size(MB) in the main folders? Users have been asking for this option for at least 4 years now.

Im going crazy everytime I try to edit a photo it keeps going to collections how do I stop that?
@ronbyram38802 жыл бұрын
Can you sort the smart collections list?
@tonyblake8841 Жыл бұрын
Why would you use ordinary collections? With a Smart collection adding photos automatically renders an ordinary collection option redundant. What am I missing if this is not the case. Adding photos manually to a collection would be a pain.
@DavidMartin-iw9td Жыл бұрын
Smart Collections are brilliant, extremely useful, and powerful. However, they slow down the startup as LR has to repopulate them each and every time the catalog loads.

Do smart collections occupy any space on my hard drive? My guess: no.
@superhero24762 жыл бұрын
No. Collections both smart and regular acts like playlists in music apps.
