3:23 I think it is called a Siste stein in norwegian. In swedish Röse, in english apparently called "last stone"? You use them to look where to go next. There should be another siste stein in view from the one you are at. And every time you see such a thing, you are supposed to find a rock and add to it. It is used mainly on "mountain" tops or big hills as a waypoint, to see where to go next. You should be able to follow these things back to civilization.

In 2011, we were back in Norway by camper and found that Norway has changed since 1995 very badly. as an an example. In 2011, we wanted to make some rest in Notodden and have dinner in the evening. we only found Turkish "doner local". We certainly do not go to Norway to eat doner kebab. Norway has changed. but not for the better. Pity.

Hello, Sunny: Your video was in my KZbin feed, so I visited your channel and read about you. I watched this video all the way through. When I was young I lived in Norway. My father was in the Air Force, and he worked at a NATO installation at Kolsas. We moved to Norway around May of 1970. At that time we had an American School in Bekkestua that later became an international school, I think. It was called Oslo American school for a while, and I went to all of first and second grades there. Our family moved away to Rome, Italy for six months, and next we moved back to the Oslo area. I went to the second half of third grade and all of fourth grade in the Oslo area at the same American school. We left Norway around May of 1974, and I have not been back to the country since then. The first of the two times we lived on a street called Vestbrenne, which is southeast of Skui, and the second time we lived in a village called Sandvika. Sometimes we went hiking on Kolsas Mountain. We went on many trips traveling and camping in Norway. Growing up I also lived in England (where I was born on Mildenhall Air Force Base), Brussels, Belgium, Rome and Naples, Italy (I already mentioned living in Rome), and Munich and Wiesbaden, Germany. When I got back to the United States at 18 1/2 I had lived 11 years of my life in Europe, including the last six in a row there. Now I live in Southwestern Illinois in the United States, about 20 miles or so east of Saint Louis, Missouri. In the United States I have lived in Illinois, Georgia, Indiana, and Missouri. Thank You, John

I'm back, Sunny: I made one little mistake. When I lived in Wiesbaden, Germany, I lived there a little bit later in life. I went there when I was 22, and I turned 23 soon afterwards. I lived there a few months, and next went back to the States again. About half a year later I went back to Wiesbaden again and lived there for another year. I really did live in Europe for 11 years of my life by the time I came back to the United States at 18 1/2. In all, I have lived more than 12 years in Europe. I have been living in Illinois since not long before I turned 24. Thanks, John
@indoorandoutdoorendurance38895 жыл бұрын
Actually, I realized that I goofed again. When I went to Wiesbaden, Germany I was almost 22, not almost 23. In other words, I was 21 when I went there. However, when I left Wiesbaden the second time, I really was almost 24. In other words, I was 23 1/2.

@@indoorandoutdoorendurance3889 Yes, your old school is named Oslo International School now. It used to be a school most people in Oslo knew nothing about. Then princess Ingrid (born 2004 and throne heir) was enrolled. Apparently the Royal family thought it would be a huge advantage for her to learn to speak flawless English. Which is unerstandable. But this is Norway, and this country is very egalitarian. Even the Royals are expected to send their kids to an "ordinary school in the neighbourhood". So yes, they got a lot of criticism. From the medias. And the man in the street.

Rock piles in the US to identify hiking trail are called cairns. They help especially with snow on the ground. I highly recommend hiking in Norway and seeing the fjords.
