I’ve had my staffy for 6yrs - today at 11yrs old she passed away because of an aggressive stomach cancer inside her stomach. She was the best, the sweetest, most loyal, loving best friend I ever had (more so than any human to be honest) - she wanted nothing more to please & be loved. Loved she was, still is even though she’s in heaven now, she always will be. She loved back equally, unconditionally & hard too. That’s what Staffies do - love hard, loyally & unconditionally. November 2016, I broke my leg which meant I needed surgery for pins & plates. When I came home from hospital, she stayed by my side for the first 3nts. Not once did she move, in some ways I think it was her natural nannying instinct coming out. To nanny, to watch over her loved ones. It’s hardly surprising when Staffies are known as the nanny dog in the K9 world. It’s been a recurring theme of staying by my side through thick & thin, the good, the bad & the ugly - never once waived in her love, affection or loyalty. She’s been the best part of 6yrs. She is the reason why I fell in love with Staffies. She is the reason why I’ll never have another breed of dog. Seeing her deteriorate has been one of the most heartbreaking sights I’ve ever seen, but I’ll take any pain/lows that comes with owning a Staffy (especially when they suddenly get aggressively sick) for a shred of loyalty & love they give to their people - in a heartbeat. R.I.P Lola my sweetheart, my Angel & my best friend - when it’s my time I’ll meet you again & we’ll be together forever. To life, death & beyond, I love you - always have always will ❤ 🐶 👼 🪦

Just been to the cricket club where we joined a few years ago aAs I it is the start of the season my stafifie did more PR for the bread in 10 minutes kissing adults, kids and meeting puppies and other dogs .He is such a gentle dog .My wife and her family were very dubious about him when we got him as a pup and they love him dearly now .My advice is that he breed can be aggressive with other animals but just be responsible . My rescue staff i had many years ago didn’t like anyone but humans .I had him for 8 years and no issue whatsoever other than reminding other dog owners that he wasn’t friendly and legally their dog should be on a lead . My only thing to say is that as a bull breed it is important you know how to train them .

Best breed I ever owned. My Zach was found abandoned on the streets of Newport News and I found him at the Humane Society. He was a very loving dog.. he once growled at a boyfriend who was in a mean spirit. He was trained with good manners by someone before I owned him. He strutted like a panther, but when anyone showed him attention he smiled and wagged his tail. He lived 13 years and I miss him to this day and always will.

Our Staffy found us. He was dumped on a rural state route and left to fend for himself. We were driving that road when we encountered him, walking the center line. We pulled over and I opened my door, thinking about getting out. Was no need to get out. He walked around to my side, crawled into the car, sat on the floor, and laid his head in my lap. We are retired seniors, and live in a 600 sq ft cabin, and at that time we had 2 other dogs (one has since passed) and 4 cats! We had no room for such a big guy, and at the time he had a dislike of cats, and so though it saddened us, we started looking for a good home for him. The shelter had deemed him “unadoptable” because he’d lunged at one of them. I tried explaining that he thought he was guarding me, they said dogs don’t bond with humans that quickly. BULL!!! Long story short, 2 & 1/2 years later, he is now family. He’s going NOWHERE!! And I still say that with love in my heart, a 1/2 hour after he knocked me down for the 3rd time. Took me clear off my feet this time! He’s nearly 100 lbs, I’m around 125, with osteoporosis!

They are the no.1 most abandoned breed =( we rescued her at maybe 6mos old, she was abandoned near out in the country in a field near Wintertime.. Best dog I've ever had. I still cry when I think about her being gone now.. She was SO SMART. She knew how to unlock the deadbolt and turn the doorknob to get into the backyard, so we had to put up baby gates when we weren't home..😅 We joked she was our little raptor.. (she was harmless, never so much as growled at anyone, was wonderful with our little nephews when they were babies, but, was never really socialized with other dogs,, so she did not really like to be around them..she wasn't ever aggressive with them, she would just run away or ignore them when they tried to play.) She knew several commands that could be given in sign language, as well as verbally. She knew the names of a dozen of her toys/babies and could retrieve any of them that you asked for. She was so lovable. She would jump up and sit in my lap like a recliner like she was still a puppy.. She had lots of energy and loved to run around the yard and go on long walks. Our vet called her the wonderdog because she lived to be over 15 1/2 years, their life expectancy is around 12-14. She was such a pretty girl.. I miss her dearly. If you train them right as a puppy, they will be one of the best family members you will ever have... don't let anyone tell you different!

This video has definitely helped put me at ease about what a good fit my lifestyle is for his needs. Thank you for that. I got a rescued staffie in January. When i saw him in the rescue centre he looked so adorable. the rescue centre gave me lots of rules about how he needed to be muzzled and he was not good with other dogs. well, he is wonderful with other dogs and he is so laidback. He is extremely affectionate. i can see people are weary of him but i was that person before i got one. I actually prefer people to be distant from me. He is 7 now and he has settled in so well. He walks to heel and he can be a bit stubborn and he is extremely bad-tempered about being dried but time will sort out his little ways. I do feel that exercise and also lots of kindness help.

Our staffy was a rescue. He is a big baby. He thinks he is a lap dog, at 100 pds (vet says should be 90). He is gentle, intelligent, beyond loving. Just a side note. We had a golden retriever that was both human and animal aggressive and we had to watch him like a hawk because people thought because he was a retriever they could just run up and cuddle him. NOPE!!!! He was very protective and great with kids but exhausting to watch and manage. Our staffy? The opposite but people are terrified of him. sigh.

I love Staffordshire bull terriers and crosses and English bull terriers and American Staffordshire terriers and American bully and pit bulls and I have always owned them and I will continue to. My last one a white Staffordshire bull terrier called Reah I had for 15 1/2 years and he was so placid and tame and friendly and chilled and excellent around children other dogs and cats and people and he never growled or hurt anyone ever. I pampered him and was with him right until the end when he was put to sleep in my arms after being rushed to the vets at 55 mph and turns out it was a cancerous burst stomach tumour and nothing they could do. I lost him in July this year 18th I now have another a tan and white with black patches all over 11 week old male Staffordshire bull terrier cross American bully xl called Hero who is doing really great. I know Reah would want me to open my heart up to another and I will do the same for him as I did for Reah and prove people wrong about them. ❤

@holysmokes252 Жыл бұрын
@@Supreme0757 They are loyal to their family to a fault. They are kind and gentle. They are not much on protecting property, but heaven help someone who tries to hurt a family member. They are mostly kind and playful. They will let you know if something strange is happening. The only thing I will caution you about is they need to be properly socialized at an early age, and I would not leave a younger one alone with children. They are quite athletic with showing love when they are young and may knock a child down. I have not met one that would intentionally hurt a child. Find a good breeder of English staffies. I use Rockstaff kennels.

I’m working through an incident, a staffy off leash charged at and attacked my moms Bernese mountain dog while I was out walking her alone. The owner was really sketchy and ended up ditching the situation. Left me and the dogs (including his aggressive staffy) it was a really terrifying experience. I know this owner was very irresponsible and that this staffy had likely had no socialization, no obedience training and was in all likelihood mistreated or even trained for aggression. I of course blame the owner more than the dog but as a result I’m absolutely terrified of the breed. I have been avoiding them at all costs on the street because I am so scared of it happening to my small corgi. I’m trying really hard to work through it and conquer the fear because I know these dogs can be very loving, especially with a good and confident handler. Responsible and confident owners are key. I’m trying to get comfortable walking near them on the street and watching videos about them to help me understand them more and get over the incident. They do seem so sweet and can’t be called the nanny dog for no reason.

The pepper spray brand Mace sells a specific pepper spray for dogs and other animals. Please consider carrying some in case a stronger dog attacks you or your small dog and you aren't capable of breaking up the fight. I have a 100lb American Bulldog/Pit mix and I just can't imagine what it must feel to have a small dog that is very vulnerable to a dog attack. I guess I got lucky with my Zoey. She was OK with us not being at home all the time. Never (OK, one time) chewed anything up. I'm sure it helped to have a doggy door, lots of training and the fact I was with her almost constantly the first few months when we got her (at 10 weeks). Super easy after that. And yes, many people crossed the street because of her. But she was also known as "the poster child for pit bulls" at the dog park as she got along with everyone/everydog. We didn't correct them on the breed because she was a rescue and we honestly never knew if she was Staffie or Pit. We introduced her as a Staffie if asked. She helped get me over the passing of my Fiancée. Zoey was my rock until she passed at 13.

Especially the part about the Neediness which to some may sound like a big negative and depending on the owner it could be. Need to put the time in but the reward will be tenfold! When my four boys were young, my wife and I worked different shifts so one of us would be at home at all times. Now that they’re grown and we are “empty nesters” we’re doing the same for our spoiled dogs!

I have worked hard as hell to train him to be the perfect dog but right now the rewards are just amazing. He has never destroyed anything in in the house, was easy to train, super social and basically sleeps all day after our walks. One thing to know, if you plan to move around and change country for example, make sure you do your research because your dog could be an obstacle, I just relocated to Switzerland and Staffys are 100% prohibited in the canton of Zurich for example, fortunately I'm 25 min away from Zurich and you change canton thus different law apply and here it's fine, just keep that in mind.

My only concern is that he's SO STRONG, lol. I wasn't prepared for the daily PULLS-I mean, walks...lol, but I love this dog to the ends of the earth!! He curls up right next to me, looking like a black croissant, and he's just an amazingly SMART dog as well. I was sort of prejudiced before, I'll admit, but....this is one incredible dog!

Every staffy I've ever known has been the sweetest natured, gentlest dog with absolutely no aggression whatsoever. I don't understand how anyone could ever be afraid of such a loving breed of dogs. I have however met a few Chihuahuas that were demon posessed.

I absolutely had to comment here. One of our kids is a staffy mix with aussie Shepard and border collie. She's 8 now. She's killer smart and the part about being needy is 150% truth! She idolized me and hates when I'm not around. I'm a truck driver and work 13h a day. My lady works from home however so mazie gets attention when I'm gone. The second I get home however... endless play. Between her 3 mixes, she is a fully loaded box of explosives. Lol this video was great thanx much! We absolutely love both our kids but mazie is a total character. :)

With a year and a half training, my Staffy is my service dog. She is self trained so I trained her myself. She is the first dog that I ever had. After you bond with your staffie, all she cares about is giving you what you want. Be careful and don't give her a task that she can't do they are so sensitive that it will kill them

I I knowingly adopted a pit terrier nearly a year ago. We didn’t know why she was the way she was and had come very close to rehiring her because we weren’t equipped for the demands she had. I say demands but at the time we thought they were problems because we assumed the shelter knew what kind of dog she was (lab/boxer/dalmatian mix) However the older our dog got the more her features changed and developed into a much clearer picture of what kind of dog our pup really is and with that helped us to better understand her and adjust our expectations. I’m still working with her to train our dog because her ordinarily docile personality has recently changed to hostile towards strangers at our door but I understand now why that is. This video is spot on when they describe her behavior and her physical demands. This dog will not quit. Energy to spare and loves to run around and chase small animals. I love our little pup to pieces though

American Staffordshire Terrier was my first dog. She was the best dog ever. Had her for 15 years since i was a kid. The only problem that occurred is that mine rarely liked other dogs. She loved the ones she knew while growing up. But in her late years she preffered humans. Staffordshire Bull Terrier is also nicknamed the "nanny dog," such is its reputation as a child's playmate and guardian. She helped me alot through my tough times in life growing up. I hope other people will consider getting this breed, especially the Female Gender of the dog breed. They are very active so if you live in a nature Area then it is a match made in heaven for the dog breed. ❤

We adopted one and she is the sweetest dog ever. Scared of the cat, wants to lay with us all the time, acts sad in the corner when not getting attention gets hurt feelings during any kind of telling her no and checks on the kids and baby constantly. She can't stand the postal service people but you don't want just anyone walking into or up to the back yard.

Staffys are hard work. If you're looking for an "easy" dog that will please a crowd then just pass. My boy is two, I've worked hard and continue to work hard every day to keep him polite, stimulated, socialised and happy. People will still cross the street, pull their dogs away etc, despite him being more polite and friendly than most dogs we meet! He is super affectionate and needy......if I didnt wfh, he'd be heartbroken. He can be left alone happily but by no means all day long. My lifestyle works for us, but definitely isn't for everybody. I knew what I was signing up for when I got my boy, and I wouldn't change him for the world, but if you're not prepared to continue to be a strong leader with a dedication to your breed of choice, then a staffy isnt for you.

They train themselves really please listen, one tip I would give you is don't overdose with affectionate behaviour In the first 6 years. Love them and give them cuddles and big welcome home's,... But not everytime. Keep slightly aloof but don't be cold or cruel. This will keep your bull terrier balanced and affectionate but not needy and demanding. Everyone loved my boys because I understand this, it's the special secret to bull terrier heaven. As they get old and calmer then you can lavish them with the affection they always crave a bit more but never, never, let them upstairs or on your bed or they may get stupid with the power theta think they have. There is nothing wrong with your dog and I don't expect you to know how to deal with them but try what I say. Like every time you come home always say hello but only make a fuss of your dog every third time. Believe me, I know.

I have a concern I’m hoping someone could help me with. I’ll try to be brief. I inquired about an Amstaff on petfinder when she was only 3 months old. By the time they got back to me with an application and then an answer from the application, two months had passed. Now it’s two months later and I’m finally hearing from the foster home where she’s been living and she’s about 7 months old now. The foster home said that she worked full time and hasn’t been able to train her much. She’s just getting crate training and hasn’t been fully potty trained. She allows her on all of the furniture and has access to the whole house. I’m a first time staffy owner and I’m wondering should I take this pup out should I get a younger one that I can train properly from a younger age? This dog will require a lot of corrective behavior training that I have zero experience doing. I pick her up in two weeks. Please help me decide. Thanks.

My first time to your channel. I was expecting you to slam the bed but i thank you for the sincere, honest truth. Bully needs get an awful reputation but they are amazing dogs. Just like any other living being you have, you need to put time and effort into them. Don't bother getting ANY pet if you're not willing to put in the work, love and attention they need. Even parakeets need and want your attention and time and love. I get squawked at if I don't say hello to my son's budgies. So imagine the needs of a larger animal with more energy. Don't do it if you don't have the time or if you're never around. And remember every animal regardless of its breed has its own unique personality.

I watched this vid, then went and woke up my SBT whom we've had for 8 years since finding her in a shelter at age 3 (shelter didn't know what they had...just listed her as Pit Bull Cross--we scomped that dog up pretty quick!). Made dog watch the vid and afterwards asked her what her take on it was. No reply from Staffy. I suggested it was time to go and laid out her little dog backpack. She sniffed it and promptly went back to bed. No---jeepers!---actually that dog saved my life. I worked my way up from a wheelchair to polio crutches and decided the next step was a cane. Got that dog to FORCE me to get out and walk or hike, cane and all, stumbling and falling also. Now, four months free of a cane on most days, it's been a long 15+ years and I owe that last hurdle to my SBT. She's never even hackled at another human whether it be a child who rushes her in the park and playfully grabs her ears or an adult who doesn't know not to reach for a dog's face! A few dust-ups with untrained dogs at the dog park, but nothing serious. I'm 67 and Staffy is almost 12. My wife of 42 years suggested that when the dog dies that I get sacrificed and buried with the dog. I'm thinking something's up there, but will look into it. These are great dogs! Great vid, too.
