Are Staffies easy to house train? TRUTH REVEALED in today's video. 🐕
🐾 FREE STAFFY TRAINING GUIDE: The 4-Step Guide to Walking Without a Lead:
staffydog.com/free-staffy-tra...
Staffies benefit from being introduced to house training as soon as you take them home. Of course, they may have already picked up some bad habits from the breeder, but the sooner you get to training your Staffy, the better.
Staffies make great house dogs, but don't do well outdoors, so make sure you have plenty of space to keep them inside your home.
When training your Staffy, you have to be consistent, patient, and loving to successfully train this highly intelligent breed.
Something you must consider is whether your Staffy will be allowed on the couch and bed, else they'll make up their own mind!
Staffies are easy to house train, as long as you know exactly what they require, which again is, patience, consistency, and lots of love. 🦴

our 1st staffy was almost 15 years old and we still miss her every day and once you have had a staffy you will never want another breed in most cases. We now have the 2nd staffy, both staffys were very easy to train, but the training starts from day 1! Golden rule... what is not allowed today, is not allowed tomorrow and also not the next week, next month or next year and stay consistent. The energy you put into training and raising you will get years of love and a very loving staffy who wants to do everything for the whole family in return.

My staffy was very easy to train. As a puppy I left her alone and he never complained . When I would leave the house, I would head straight to the door without looking at him or saying a word to him. That’s the key.

I had many other dogs over the years, mainly German and Belgian sheperds. I have now an 18 months old Staffy female and she is by far the easiest dog that I had so far. She is extremely smart and has also a strong will to please. It doesn't take her long to learn anything and it was also never a problem to leave her alone. When I know that I have to leave her alone, I walk and train her until she is happy and she will sleep most of the time until I come back. One reason for separation anxiety is always lack of trust, therefore it is important to start with a couple of minutes and to increase the time step by step. In the mantime I can even leave her in places that she doen't know very well, if she has her bed she is happy and completely relaxed.

@@dlpihir I can leave her alone for 8 hours or so, but I do this only in exceptional cases. One option if you work and want a dog might be dog daycare if you have a good kennel nearby. My sheperds were used to stay alone all day long when I was working, but they were ouside and also more independent.

It depends on how you treat them during this growth. If you hit, shout even cage your dog, then you are not a dog lover and shouldnt own a dog especially a staffy. They can get very emotional and if treated the way i mentioned they will feel it, cower and you'll see the body language change and it can be permanent. Train them young be patient, teach them with praise, communicate with them and show them love, remember they can feel your emotion wether positive and negative, they cant talk back but they show it in body. Never hit your dog but show them your not happy by point at them with direct eye contact they will realise by your emotions but remember they still learning life. A lil tap on the nose and firm no is ok. I had three staffies and the eldest was trained really well and would even stand by you off leash at all times. The females are harder to train and even though my girls were trained well they were still a pain in the arse 12 & 14 years later. I talked to them like children so they grew custom to specific words such as Good Girl, Goid Boy, Wee Wee, Walkies, etc etc having a language with any dog helps, because they will pick up on it and learn what is for what. If you have a pup dont stress at it for example i have a neighbour raising a french bulldog and already i detest her. The dog is creating little puddles and often nibbles its poo which is sign lack nutrient meaning it as worms. All she does is yell the estate down at this poor lil pooch. I stated to her you are not capable of raising a dog at all, ehat your doing is scaring the dog. Your showing the same signs on how you treat your own son by putting fear into them and shouting very aggressively at them. I got told mind my own business lol this dog will resent the parent just like the child resulting in a dog not interested in listening jyst like a child would act. Also do not raise a dog on kibble or other dog bisquits this is not good and your essencially killing your dog. Feeding to much of tjis creates Bloat in a dog and this ruptures there stomachs creating issues and can lead to death. Dog bisquits should be small qauntity. A handful in there meat once every other day, the aim is to not over bloat your dog diet. Bisquits should be a filler, a snack and pilut away jyst like if were peckish for a bag of crisp or a bisquit or two. Also introduce them to children and other dogs at young age, make them friendly to others. A social dog tend to be the best dogs, if you raise a dog to be anti social they pick up threatening habits purely out of self defense. They will tend to put themselves in defense mode and feel threatened by a stranger, a dog will attack or show aggression this happens to all dogs but bull breeds more so because its there instinct. These dogs are fantastic family dogs, great companions and protectors but show them aggression, poor training and isolate them from society will create a bad tempered dog. I have said for many years i disagree with laws and how some raise there dogs, why should a breed suffer when tje fault lies with the owner. If you raise a child poorly 80% of the time it will grow to hate you and no doubt ruin its personality leading to negative outcome. The dogs are obedient but are very active dogs, introduce toys young to prevent from destruction. Reason for them destroying things because they are teething, it could be a sign of cleanliness, that your ignorant towards them or they are bored and want to pkay and dont know any better. Any dog can be savage but any dog can also be well trained. Do right by any dog it will turn out to be a gem.

My boy came home in a half carton box with my ( smelly probably ! ) t-shirt in the bottom at 5wks of age. Until he could climb the stairs to the front door he stayed down stairs with his life long buddy a 6year old bullterrier/ staffy male. When he could finally climb the stairs he was allowed to wonder in , met everyone and then ( from a distance ) I told him to go back outside and he never did more than stick his nose in ever again. But the landing was HIS ! At 18mths he and the now 9yr old had a 5 second scuffle and the torch was passed ! An incredible dog I still miss 40 years on !😎👍

If you live in Britain you probably won't find a rescue centre without at least one staffy and if you do it won't be long before one comes in. Many are older and I think it's wonderful you are seeking to home an older dog as they are generally often overlooked. It's common for them to live 15 years and more so they are far from over the hill at a mature age. You're a good bloke

My Staffy/Lab mix rescue is SUPER smart and a quick learner. She had lived in a crate her entire life and eliminated there. She had never lived in a home before, but she learned to be house trained very quickly. I had wondered if she would have been happier on the farm running free,...but i am SO HAPPY to hear you say the make great housedogs. She learned her house training and other training very quickly. It only took me two weeks to learn the the "sit stay" command. My girl is with me all day and night, which she loves. I loved this video and learned a lot even through my girl has been with me for over two years now. My girl is a masterful chewer and IF I have to go out for a short errand I give her a huge frozen knuckle beef bone on the porch and she happily works on it while I am gone or busy on the phone, I taught her to eat her bone "bone on the bed." and she keeps it right on her dog best (with washable rug and towel over the bed) as I asked. I have had many working Labs but this Staffy mix is the smartest dog I have ever had. Our bond is beyond believable.

I'm retired so having a Staffie would work fine. The longest I'm usually gone is about two hours and on occasion maybe three. Most of the time I would prefer taking it with me but right now I don't have an air conditioned car. After that happens then maybe I'll get one, preferribly a year old or more. The shelters always seem to have several on hand. Their loyalty is what sells me on a Staffie. I hope as a rule they get along with cats as I have one and would never let him go.

I have to disagree - Ive found staffies tolerate being alone reasonably well. Our Staffy is about 19 months old and he stays at home by himself for 8-9 hours a few days a week. My partner works in the office nearlkly everyday but I work at home 2-3 days a week. When I am working from home I stay in bed a bit longer and our boy comes and either lies or sits on me to try and make sure I don't get up and go. I think the secret to that is starting while they are young. We had to start leaving ours at home when he was still pretty young and we still had him in an enclosure (approx 1m x 2m or 3' x 6') most of the time. I reckon maybe 8 months old. I think we left him home by himself for a ferw hours one or two times then straight to 8 or 9 hours. We kept him in his enclosure while we were out. But he was also left in the enclosure by himself while we were in other rooms or went to the local shop etc. So he has grown up knowing that we dissapear, but we always come home. When he got older maybe 12 months we let him run free in the part of the house that was puppy proofed, but we always found him in his enclosure when we got home. For about the last two or three months he has had the run of the house while we're out and we still usually find him in his enclosure or in the laundry. which is dark and has no windows - he has found a little nook between clothes airing racks which is kinda of cosy and there are usually clothes on them. Essentially a dark den. He never seems to go upstairs as far as we can tell even though that is where the bedrooms are to which he has free access. His enclosure has now been cut down to 1m x 1m approx and it is really just his bed, but it is sort of his safe place, he grew up in in, and it has not been moved and that is still where he goes when we go out or he wants to be alone. We only lock him in it when there are visitors or maybe tradesmen or delivery men or when we have to have the door and gate open. He's never chewed anything he wasn't suppposed to since we leave him alone free (he did chew a few things when he was much younger and not allowed out by himself. He does get at least a 30 min walk in the morning, and often longer before we go out. We have not had any reports of excessive barking or any other issues from neighbours etc. From what we cabn tell he pretty much just goes to sleepm chews a toy/bone or feeds him self from a kong tumbler. I also used ot have a staffy/bully cross and he also stayed home by himself for long periods. I think the longest was a but over 24 hours ( he had food and water but no outside access). I came home fully expecting to find a puddle of pee at least and maybe a pile of poop, but he held it all. I don't think they enjoy being by themsleves, but I think that they can deal with it fairly well if trained. I think the real secret is you have to spend a lot of quality time with them when you're home to build a trusting relationship so they know that you will always come home.

So I got my first staffy 10 mos ago at 9 weeks old. First female dog I've ever owned. I' ve had several dogs ( labs and american pit) and I have to say this little girl is hardest to housetrain/ train of them all. Spend lots of time with her, trying to establish routine, expose her to other people, kids etc. Very friendly, non aggressive, but damn I cant get her to stop pooping in the house. Take her out often, but she'll sneak off and poop in the house with no warning. She knows its bad, but gives no warning when she needs to go so I can let her out again. Super frustrating

Here you can always find someone to watch your dog, weather it’s someone you know or a dog walking service, there are also many employers who allow dogs. Doggy daycare can be a bit expensive. As i have said nobody shall have a issue with any dog even this breed unless you put in the effort to raise it. If you cant put in the effort to raise a dog then you shouldnt own one. Its the same mentality towards a child if you cant raise a pet/child then you wont make a good parent.

Most malleable dog ever. Get a nice crate before you pick them up with a book on crate training, done. 14 years old never even had an accident. Two, never take anything away without a substitute, bad for good. They want to be good and please you more than anything else in the world you just have to show them how. I got my dog his own couch to go crazy rearranging old moving blankets on, never ever touches any other piece of furniture for example.

I had American pitbull terriers 2 times in a row. Then someone had "staffordshire puppies" for sale. I looked them up, they seemed so similar. 1 year later I can tell you, staffies are nothing like pitbulls in how they eat, shit, treat you as their owner and how easy they are to train. Don't make my mistake, get a pitbull full papers. Pay the fucking money. Do I love my staffies? Yeah of course. But it's been a journey completely sideways of what I thought i was getting. Pitbulls are more careful. These staffies just barrel right through your legs, step on your feet and lick the hell out of your face every chance they get. My pitbulls, they were very careful not to step in their shit. Staffies could care less. They are messy. The weirdest thing about staffies, they eat any fucking thing. They eat weeds, tree leaves, limbs laying on the ground, and I don't mean just chew, they actually eat wood. A LOT OF WOOD. Yes I am feeding them very well. They get 3 choices of dog food. We put meat on each serving and we make them real food. We learned early on that staffies have very delicate stomachs. They get the runs really easy if you don't feed them the right diet. Staffies are `10 times more stubborn. These guys are trainable, but nothing like my pitbulls. They picked up training in a week. Remembered it. These guys, they don't give a fuck. So, there is my 2 cents.
