MinuteEarth In Spanish we have a bunch of ridiculous (and funny) sayings about animals like: "Cachicamo le dice a morrocoy conchudo" (which basically means that an armadillo called a turtle shelly) or "Camarón que se duerme se lo lleva la corriente" (shrimp that sleeps is washed away by the current) and my favorite one "Caballo regalado no se le vé el colmillo" (you don't look at a gifted horse's canines)

In India, the saying actually goes as: "Bandar kya jaane adrak ka swaad." Which means: "monkey cant comprehend the taste of ginger." Its a phrase used when expressing how one cant understand the value of something.

There are different animals used based on different languages in India too! A Hindi speaker says ‘Don’t give ginger to a monkey (Bandar kya jaane adrak ka swad)’ A Marathi speaker would say ‘Don’t give jaggery to a donkey (Gaadhvala gulachi chav kay)’ for the same expression.

In Bengali we call it a wedding between a Dog and a Jackal! Reasoning: Jackals and Dogs do not go well with each other. They are opposites , so is rain and sunshine. Hence the saying.

In Spain we have a ton of animal related sayings. Just to name a few: -To be as crazy as a goat (nothing to explain here) -To be as stubborn as a mule (nothing to explain either) -To act like a bear/goose (to fool around) -If the hare jumps (If an opportunity presents itself) -You shouldn’t look at the teeth of a horse given to you as a present (You should appreciate gifts and not criticise them) -There’s a trapped cat here (Something’s fishy) -Give that bone to another dog (Someone is trying to trick you but your realise and tell them to go trick someone else) -Fish die through their mouths (You shouldn’t speak too much about certain subjects) Those are just some examples. Here are all the ones I know in Chinese. 1:08 In Chinese, we call someone being unappreciative a "turtle eating barley (烏龜吃大麥)". 1:35 I can't recall a Chinese equivalent of "counting chickens before they hatch", though surely such a quote exists. I would appreciate some help here, or that would bug me to no end. 1:46 There are many versions of the "pig and lipsticks" quote, and here is just one of them (this one is from Taiwan): a cow is a cow; you can take it to Beijing/Taipei/in to town center and it's still a cow (牛就是牛，遷到北京/臺北/城裡還是牛)." 1:57 In Taiwan, we call someone going crazy as "being possessed by a monkey" (著猴, pronounced diou3 gao2). EDIT: Just looked up the counting chicken equivalent, and there are indeed sayings describing premature conclusions. They just don't involve animals (no wonder I can't remember any haha). A clever one is "counting before you see the first stroke of eight (八字沒見一撇)", since the Chinese number eight (八) has only two strokes, counting before you even see the first stroke is definitely premature.

They are different.The Tikbalang have a humanoid figure but with it's head and also his knees upto it's feet are part of a horse while the rest is a mascular body of a human being. It also have a tail of a horse and it also appears taller and bigger than humans.

In Mongolia we have "Илжигний чихэнд алт хийсэн ч сэгсэрнэ, ус хийсэн ч сэгсэрнэ." Translation meaning "Donkey will shake (it's head) regardless if you put gold or water in it's ears" Basically meaning "Gold is valued as same as water to a donkey" Used in a way that to describe how one is unwilling to listen(commonly used), reason(uncommonly used) or appreciate(rarely used). No - all bibles were printed in Latin and local translations were frowned upon by the Catholic Church. So all those saying were invented for the English translation of the bible and weren't in English before. So each language gots its own new biblical sayings. Eg in Papua New Guinea there are no sheep and pigs are prized - so Jesus is actually a swine herd and his followers are swine. In Norway, there was no word for "Lion" so it was translated in the bible as "Royal Deer" and still today a lion is called a royal deer in their language.
