Personally, I think the ‘Painted Dog’ should be renamed the ‘Painted Hound’, since another name it is often given is the ‘African Hunting Dog’, and since ‘hound’ comes from the German word ‘hund’, which means ‘hunting dog’ (since certain dogs were bred with features to make them good at hunting), I feel like it would be a much more fitting name for the species, since in the wild, it’s such a naturally skilled and successful hunter.

The splendid poison frog or splendid poison-arrow frog was a species of poison dart. It was reddish in color. It went extinct in 2020.
