So what are your plans... buy now or continue waiting? It's a great time to build a PC, but new GPU's and AM5 are on the horizon. However, there's always new hardware coming out and the waiting game can become perpetual. Let me know what you've got planned.

I feel, based on the recent Gen gpus such as RTX2080Ti / RTX3000 / RX6000 showing people are willing to pay big for the latest top tier gpus 🤯…. Meaning manufacturers may be offering bigger performance Gen over Gen compared to previous years models such as GTX900/1000 (as people were more price conscious then)…. Now I feel we’ll pay for that privilege of that performance in both dollars for the GPU itself, the power supply needed to power the GPU and the electricity ⚡ costs to keep that hungry boy /girl fed 🤦‍♀🤦🤦‍♂🥵😜

@@michaelthompson9798 See... but that's based on the people buying those GPU's at inflated prices being 99% miners. Sure, there is a small segment of PC gamers that will. But a lot won't. So... I can see them trying to charge more initially, but have to come down eventually. Also, I've heard rumor that the 7000 series isn't going to have asinine power consumption levels, and this is was Nvidia is having to do just to keep on top. Perhaps that's the case, maybe not.

@@Souscheff I guess we shall see, but we've heard that crap before too, and then they always go and disappoint people. And Intel is only going to have about four million Arc GPU's, and that includes the mobile GPU's from what I understand. That might sound like a lot... but it's not. And keep in mind, those GPU's will be competing with 3000 series hardware. From the sounds of it, the top end Arc GPU was set to compete with the 3070/Ti... which will now put it up against the 4060/Ti. So... not so great. They'll have to price them competitively and maybe this means we'll have a few budget tier GPU's out of the gate in September. That would be nice and I welcome some lower end GPU's.

@TheGameBench
@TheGameBench Жыл бұрын
The power supply is fine, but the PCIe slot on anything past the xx10 models is right next to the power supply... so I kinda' have to tell you to forget the SFF Dell systems on that basis alone. The HP systems are great for this though. I'm actually building something similar right now. I went with the HP Z2 G4 SFF. They're easy to find with an i7 8700 and sometimes the 9700, for a reasonable deal. Expect around $230 or so for the 8700 and closer to $300 for the 9700. The power supply will be enough for anything only needing PCIe power and the 8700 is MORE than enough to feed an A2000. Think around an R5 5600, maybe a little slower, in terms of IPC. I'm going with the i7 9700 for mine. The HP 600/800 G4 and G5 are also good options.

@@stoganlephens7946 Without more specifics... I can't for sure how well the VRM will hold up, but if they're business class systems then I would assume that the i7 9700 would hold up just fine, and those systems would have been sold originally with that as an option. I have a 9700 showing up today that's going in an HP Z2 G4. But honestly, I think your 9400 will be just fine with the a2000. If you're playing a lot of esports titles and you're playing at lower settings for a more competitive frame rate... the 9700 could have a large benefit in some games. Especially in the 1% and .1% lows.

Thanks! Honestly... I don't think they will. NVIDIA is intentionally holding back stock of the 40 series cards to keep 30 series pricing high as they try to move all the stock they have left from not forecasting properly. I just recently got my hands on a HP Elitedesk 800g1 sff and have been thinking about potential GPU options. Gonna mainly run Batocera for now, so I'm thinking AMD would be my best bet. Do you think your advice from the "Dell OptiPlex GPU Upgrade Guide" vid still holds up? My biggest worry is the 240w power supply, but I'm not sure what cards could fit within that limit now. My main purpose for it is going to be emulation, ideally up to GC/PS2 era
@TheGameBench
@TheGameBench 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! i don't know, Nvidia has been doing better on the Linux front, but AMD is a more sure bet, just the pricing on the Polaris cards is still pretty terrible. I'd say my advice from that video has changed somewhat due to pricing, but at this point, it's possible to get a 1060 6GB for about the same price as back then... which is kinda' sad. Being that it's a SFF, you're good with any low profile GPU you can buy. The pricing is pretty terrible on all the LP GPU's though, but that's true even in a normal market because they're more niche. I know the 6400 might be temping, but wouldn't be a great idea for a Gen3 system, but if you're primarily going to use it for is emulation, and not current titles, the 6400 actually isn't a terrible idea. ETA Prime did a video on the RX 6400 that showed it was pretty decent for emulation.

Pretty much anything Nvidia. They just do this work better than AMD, and I'm not sure if it's hardware limitations or the software just isn't optimized for them... or both, But I'm currently using a 1080 Ti and I'm about to upgrade to the 3080 Ti, mainly because of the VRAM. I felt the 3080 was a step back in that regard. However, the 3080 now has 12GB and EVGA has those for $1,000. Maybe they'll come down further... I'm not sure. However, your workload might not need that much VRAM and you might be able to get away with 10GB from the standard 3080 or 8GB on the 3070/Ti or 3060 Ti. The 3060 can, but the 12GB on the 3060 is much slower, which isn't ideal. The 3050 can even do alright for a beginner. I wouldn't even bother with the 3090/Ti unless you're doing some insane editing projects... in which case, I'd assume you'd already know you needed those.

Yes, I've mined with the GPU's in my own personal machines and I do hold a small amount of ETH. I fully expect the value to increase after the merge. However, I've explained this. Not everyone can just suddenly mine other coins. It's getting tiring explaining this over and over. If you put all the hashing power that's going into ETH into all the other coins they will become unprofitable due to the level of difficulty. If they could, there's no sense in waiting, just keep buying GPU's and mine other coins now. Some already are, but not everyone can. There will be another ETH, but it took ETH years to get to this point and it will take years to build up another coin to this point as well. Regardless of any other factors, there will be zero point in buying the 4000 series to mine ETH. You might have some buying them to mine something else, but it will be a small amount. Unless they push the ETH merge back over a year, the 4000 series will be an apocalypticly idiotic purchase to mine ETH. I'll honestly be surprised if the merge is push back much farther than the 4000 series launch.

@@TheGameBench you are right but one of your talking points for now is just a theory that has a 50/50 chance to happen cause this is the first time we will see if the miners push all there mining power to other coins and see what happens unless this has already happened I person don't know but I don't think it has happened so we shall see I hope that you are right but if not it will be an apocalypse

@@donottouch9110 They can't and they know they can't. The more GPU's you add to a network, the more the difficulty goes up, and unless the value of that coin goes up my the same amount, the profitability goes down. If the value remains at is current rate, they would become worthless. This isn't a theory, it's simple math. It's an objective fact, not speculation. If it weren't, why would they have stopped buying GPU's? The larger operations know that the gravy train is coming to an end... for now. Some small miners will be able to switch right now. Others will have to come in slowly as the network can bear the hashrate, and this all hinges on the value of the coin going up. If it doesn't, it will never be profitable to mine at the rate ETH is right now. ETH took years to build up to this point, it wasn't overnight. All the people mining BTC couldn't just switch to ETH when ASIC's took over and muscled GPU's out. These are facts. It's just how things are. A few will, most can't... not initially. In three to five years, we might have something back to the point that ETH has been at, but not now and not at the merge.

Anyone thinking it's ok to pay £1500 for a graphics card plus the extra electricity bills needs a hard look at themselves or pay the bills. No amount of FPS is worth what these cards offer & Imho I would rather stop playing/buying games than pay these prices. IMHO the tech world is destroying itself with greed as the corporate world is. Reconnect with nature it's far more enjoyable & I grow up playing space invaders & Attic Attack. Stop over paying & save your hard earned cash as one day you'll need it & wonder why you paid these prices. No one need new tech every 5 yrs but we're conditioned to think we do for the benefit of corporations to make you more poor.
@TheGameBench
@TheGameBench 2 жыл бұрын
It's not just the tech sector, it's corporations as a whole. I really think they believed infinite growth was possible, but the growth was all built on lies. Even if it wasn't, that growth was never going to be sustainable. They're all having a hard time letting go of that, but they'll have to eventually. However, I've learned to not try to rationalize enthusiasts. They don't care. They want the best, diminishing returns be damned. There's no logic behind it, and if they've got the disposable income to do it... I guess it doesn't matter. But it would be interesting to know how many of them are financing it on a credit card... which is obviously a terrible idea, unless you make money with what you're doing with the PC.

The GPU market is a dumpster fire. Nothing for 3 years at the $200 price point and all new cards offering less features and lower bus speeds. As prices come down the GTX 1000 series is the only thing offering value for money on the second hand market currently.
@TheGameBench
@TheGameBench 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and I'd say the 900 series is a good option at the entry level too. It's sad... they've just had no incentive to make any new budget tier GPU's, so the few we got were trash and/or overpriced. Too bad we'll have to wait another year to see if they give us anything out of the new cards in that department. Maybe by the time Intel's GPU's show up, they'll fit in there nicely... so long as their prices don't suck.

Hi The Game Bench, I want to ask, my roomate offer a gaming PC of ASUS ROG Gaming PC G11CB (prebuild): RAM : 16 GB CPU: i7 7700 VGA : GTX 1070 8gb Windows is included (I know it couldn't be updated into win 11) I also get xbox wireless controller , with usb receiver Price : 400€ I live in Germany, never had a pc gaming and this will be my first gaming PC. I did some benchmarks, to ensure that it still deliver the required performance (CInebench R23, 3D Mark), not overclokced and not mined. I open the case once and saw that it was not so dusty. On his steam profile, I saw that mostly he played only call of Duty for 72 hours (in total with other games only ~74 hours combined.) From my observation, he only used the gaming pc only for COD Zombie (72 hours of gaming) and some office (word,excel). My question: 1. is it worth to buy (not over price) ? 2. if not worth to buy, what is your suggestion from the price range point of view? 3. I found another seller , www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/gaming-pc-i7-7700k-16gb-ram-gtx-1080-ti-nbb-raubtier/2259954840-228-6426 , which offer 1080ti with only 430€, 30€ more what I have to pay from my roomate. It is far more cheaper that what I want to buy now, the seller told me that the machine is going well and never been OC, not mined. I'm being suspicious, though he offer really cheap and still working machine, but somehow it could be that it won't last long / scam. What is your opinion? 4. Mainly I want to buy this PC so I could play: a. CS GO, b. GTA V and some free games that I got from EPIC games. c. I'm not considering of any upgrade to higher component. just use this as gaming console. I am not a freak full good quality texture. More that I could get a high FPS with NORMAL quality texture Any opinion or suggestion about my questions would be helpful, since I'm going to pay 400€ today. Thank you and have a nice week

So for the love of god please stop with misleading titles/clickbait or mentioning in the video that gpu prices are now msrp or close to! It's false. America isnt the whole world 🙄 its just one continent that doesnt represent the whole damn world. For example the rx 6800 xt msrp is 650 dollars supposedly 🙄 here in Europe the cheapest model is 1150 euro or 1200 dollars! Thats 2x the msrp! For 2 months you damn youtubers are claiming that gpu prices are dropping or already have dropped. And how do you suppose I, and other Techtubers, are supposed to know what GPU prices are like in every country, because it is going to vary all over the place. And in some places the prices always suck for various reasons. Hell... Germany has some of the best prices on GPU's right now. I know the U.S. isn't the whole world, but it's what I know because it's where I live, and it's not reasonable to expect Techtubers to know market conditions in every location. I suppose it's possible, but then we'd have to do so much more research, and these videos have enough as it is, and the video would be so long, the metrics would suck and YT would bury... so there's be zero point in making it in the first place.
