I suggest that the Chinese Government to grant total Citizenship to all those who are married to non Chinese People. This handicap will be a an issue since the year 2011. One must actually advocate the CCP to allow foreigners to become a Chinese. China is not yet ready for Mixed people. Besides one must master the Chinese language in order to be well integrated. Permanent papers might be what China will seek for her humans. However one must be Chinese in order to become a Chinese Person or Citizen.

Mode Maya, just a clarification about something you mentioned. The USA citizenship is not automatic for a spouse who marry a North American. They get a provisional resident visa for two years then after that they do another review for 10 years ( depending the case) then a regular no limit visa. Correction: one does not automatically get the citizenship status if married to someone from either the UK or America. In the UK, you first are issued with a residence permit which allows you to work but you have to have been in the UK for some time before you can apply for a British passport/British citizenship. Marrying a British person doesn't automatically upgrade your status to citizenship. In the same vein, marriage to a US citizen doesn't automatically result in the foreign spouse being granted citizenship. I am a mixed (African-European) person married to a US citizen. We moved to the US almost a year ago and I am yet to receive my green card and work permit. In the whole time we've been here, I haven't been able to work, or apply for a driver's license or apply for medical insurance. So...all is not rosy in the west as one might think.

I think you made a mistake in USA you first get a two year resident card, then you get a 10 year card anytime you can apply for naturalization. but it is not automatic you do have to do interviews during this time.

I believe you said that if you marry someone from America then you would automatically become a citizen. That is NOT correct, sir. If you marry an American, you have the opportunity to apply for a green card or residency permit, but you DO NOT BECOME A CITIZEN or even get a green card even if you marry an American. Six hundred years ago, a Filipino prince and his family came and settled in China. After four hundred years, his descendants were granted Chinese nationality. Because China has too many people, only few foreigners who were integrated into Chinese civilization and served the country for long time and contributed a lot became Chinese citizens since 1949.The CCP gvmt treat all the foreigners equally so if you wanted to be Chinese citizen you'd do better to serve for its people with your best. It's no use to complain. Even the Chinese who expated to foreign countries such as Amercia, Brit and so on can seldom get back their Chinese nationality. For exemple, Jack Chan's son was born in the USA and wanted to return the Chinese nationality but failed for many year. In an intervew two years ago, Jack Chan said he was so happy for his son granted the Chinese nationality recently. He think it's one of the most hardest thing to get a Chinese nationality. But I think ordinary people who work in China beyond 15 years without criminal record should get a green card.

You don’t become a citizen you become a permanent residence you can get your citizenship after 3 years if you still married to the same person. That’s how it works in the US

You don't automatically become a citizen in Europe due to marriage, you have to fulfil certain criterias like no criminal records and that your employed ,But it gives you platform to pursue a citizenship.Nothing automatic.
