Thanks for telling us about the reasons our brains want to hold onto clutter.. Me and my husband are in the middle of downsizing for a move from a large family home to a much smaller apartment. We have sold, given away and thrown out so many thing but we would like to move and live going forward with even less. You are so good at explaining these difficult concepts and giving examples that make it easier to understand. You have helped us to declutter a lot deeper and have given us strategies so that we can stay focused on the positive reasons for letting go that make decluttering and living with less so much easier.

If you offered me an all expenses paid holiday vs the money to plan my own, I'd prefer the first option, not because I fear the loss of the cash, but because giving me the money means I have the added work and stress of researching where to go, how to get there, things to do while there.

This explains a lot. Why I so picky and can’t decide that quick on anything . Maybe that’s good I dk . But I am the chief home decorator and we needed new furniture I went around for three years , actually over three . But now I think I know exactly what I want to do with our style . So maybe it’s good I’ve waited so long to decide . Idk . Lol 😂

When I have a donation pile, I'll take back the items that hurt the most and still donate the items that hurt the least. I have a hard time letting go. I think the primary issue was always having people take things away from me. So if I have something, it's mine, and I won't let it go. I know I cam declutter, I just have to tell myself "It's ok! You don't need (for ex ample) 100 stuffed animals. Someone else can enjoy it more".

Very interesting info to understand why we don't let go. I have pushed through it and definitely appears to be out of sight out of mind ❤

Brilliant Mia! To explain this in such a way that it is easy to understand is brilliant! I had several aha moments even if I do not have much stuff. It explains why some people have such a hard time letting go of things they don’t use! I have never understood that!

I wonder how this ties in with trauma being a cause of clutter?

Valuable video, thank you, Mia! Used the code, said it was applied but still charged full price. Any idea why?

Yes, it explains a lot. Now it's understandable why sometimes people take seemingly stupid risks and do stupid things.
