Well I mean, here’s the thing. 1. We shouldn’t use X-men 97 to determine Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s chance of high quality. It doesn’t matter that they will be produced under the same banner, at all. That’s like saying that because Marvel Studios made a banger movie like Guardians of The Galaxy then that means that all their other movies are going to be just as great. It’s all about the creators. Speaking of, 2. So far the creators have said some rather interesting things about this project. They certainly know who Spiderman is and how to treat him. Something I will give Fiege credit for us that they definitely know how to use Spiderman. If it weren’t for Sony meddling with their products, the mcu likely would’ve released a peak Spiderman trilogy. Though with them having full creative control with the television side of Spidey, we can finally see what they’re capable of. 3. The main conflict with the Spidey fanbase is that they want something different…. but they really don’t. They get mad at the idea of Spiderman being in highschool again (even though they were not showing this same hate when the show was announced), and then get even MORE mad when the cast of characters is actually different and even features a few super friends instead of the typical Gwen, Harry, and MJ. They literally don’t know what they want. You just can’t please everyone, but that shouldn’t get in the way of good art and storytelling. 4. In the end, however? It all depends on the animation. If the animation and character designs are good, people will stick around. The animation production studio is Polygon Studios, a company mostly known for their 3D animations such as the Clone Wars series. What that could spell out for Spiderman is… uncertain. But it may not spell disaster, seeing how X-men is a fusion of 2D and 3D. All n all, I’m very excited for this show. I think the trailer will be the make or break it of everything, though. So let’s hope we get it soon!

i really dont understand the issue with peter having superfriends people act like peter doesnt need superfriends bc he should be/have his own side/supporting characters and be a solo act for 90% of the time when in reality when you really think about it peter in the comics doesnt really have many real friends that arent superheroes gwen is dead, harry was toxic/dead, J jonah Jameson is a love hate thing, robbie is pretty good friends with him same with betty but that really is it and even with his closest super friends he barely has any of those apart from The Fantastic four specifically Johnny Storm and Daredevil. its one of the reasons why i love the ultimate comics and show bc it actually has peter having more friends like iceman, kitty pryde, Firestar, spider-woman etc

1:48 that’s way too soon to call based on what we’ve seen. Visually speaking, ultimate Spider-Man is one of the best looking Spider-Man cartoons, and 2017 had amazing art promos (which the actual show ended up looking nothing like).

Visually speaking the ultimate show has a bland colour pallet, a serviceable art style and technically has some well produced cgi- but to look at id argue any show that came out before it just pops more with colour and the art style/direction has way more character. Usm’s art is fine. Boring and serviceable.

So right there, that already makes ultimate visually better than any Spider-Man cartoon from the 60s to the 90s. Mtv Spider-Man has aged poorly, and unlimited has a good art style, but the worst 90s style character designs. 2017 has bland coloring, poor character designs, and choppy animation. So looks to me like the only two good looking Spider-Man cartoons are spectacular and ultimate, which means that what I said is true. Ultimate is one of the best looking Spider-Man cartoons, period.

@@The_Albino_Jackal I’d take the animation errors over USM’s art direction any day. I’m not going to pretend that from a technical standpoint the show has less errors and is better for staying on model, unfortunately those models aren’t popping out and as I say the colour pallet really makes this show look dull. It’s not a visual marvel by any stretch of the imagination, it’s a bland looking show with a way bigger budget than its predecessors. The only thing that I can really agree on is that it has little to no reuse of animation and objectively you’re right- I personally really don’t like this show or its art style and never have, so I’m probably being biased but I can see your point and concede. Visually to look at though I just don’t think this show has much going for it. I find it hard to fault the reuse in previous shows, specifically the 90’s cartoon as it’s very much a product of its time and isn’t the only show from the 90’s to be heavily off model- early seasons of btas has the same issue. Again probably being biased as a full time hater of the ultimate show but I get your point.

2:48 this sounds promising, but 90s Spider-Man and spectacular also did that, and it’s likely this new show is gonna retread similar grounds to those (and even ultimate and 2017 with the whole super team aspect), so i understand and agree with people who would rather just skip that and pick off from say the 90s show, so they can start covering new comic book material that is barely represented in media. Like the Peter and MJ marriage. Those early classic Spider-Man stories have already been explored to exhaustion, so it doesn’t really mean much (imo) when they say they’re taking inspiration from that era yet again

Hey LewisFilms I've caught up with your content and I just want to say I really appreciate how you took the time to learn about and understand Venom. Despite being a Spider-Man spinoff character so many within the Spider-Man fandom don't really get the characters and rail against us within the Venom fandom when we want them to be more true to the comics. So while I am more of a Venom fan than I Spider-Man fan, I've decided to subscribe. Onward to the topic at hand, I don't know if it can actually bring the fandom together again, as it's a hard balancing act. Sure while Peter maybe not be under Tony's wing in this show, if they decide to something like Michelle instead of doing Mary Jane properly or one of Peter's other love interests like Gwen or Betty Brant it could throw the balancing off since the supporting cast is just as important as Peter and his villains. As for me its another chance for Venom to be adapted properly this time but the Spider-Man 90s cartoon to this day is the best cartoon adaption we've gotten, personality changing character ruining in other adaptions retcon aside.

Marvel spiderman, spectacular spiderman, and ultimate spiderman aren't made specifically for kids. The only spiderman cartoon that's made for kids is "spidey and his amazing friends". But all the others (the ones that aren't preschool cartoons) are made for everyone of all ages. There's a stereotype that's been going on for years regarding animation. And that's the stereotype that animation in general is made specifically for kids. But that's not true at all. Unless it's a preschool cartoon. From the beginning, your friendly neighborhood spiderman has been said to be very similar to mcu spiderman, but with a few changes that will make all fans happy. I'm excited, and interested in seeing how this new spidey show plays out!

Ultimate and Marvel’s Spider-Man were geared more towards young kids specifically 7 and up. On the other hand the reason why shows like Spectacular and the 90s are considered more mature isn’t because they were just made to be more mature but because the writers and producers wrote the shows in ways in which it can be appealing to both children and older audiences. But yes there is a stigma towards the animation genre being forcefully placed in that box of children’s entertainment but obviously there’s still media that is made specifically towards children and selling toys or movie tickets

Peter does constantly break the fourth wall and talks to the audience, but in shows like ultimate, spectacular, or marvel spiderman, It's actually clever and funny, and not stupid. Calling shows like ultimate, spectacular, or marvel spiderman "kids shows" Based off of its age demographic is very ignorant. Because most of the time, the age domographic is completely wrong. It's not a cartoon made specifically for kids unless it's a preschool cartoon. There is ONE spiderman cartoon that's made for kids tho. It's called "spidey and his amazing friends". I’m sick of him being a teen in high school and I don’t care about the idea of an alternate version of Tom holland’s spider-man . Well I'm going to give a chance... at least maybe some unique twists will appear things we didn't expect but in a good way. Mainly because this show is mcu adjacent so probably a mix of the comics and the mcu films. I liked the runaways show. So I'm happy to see nico. But x-men 97 is going to be hard to top. I guess we'll see. I'd LMFAO if they adapted anything from zeb wells run. Because thats the comics we saw the classic stuff over and over again. I would rather see either an Miles Morales' Spider-Man cartoon or an Mayday Parker's Spider-Girl animated series instead of something that is an bootleg version of the MCU's Spider-Man movies cause i tired of there are shows that attempt to be dependent to the MCU and less akin to the comics, which is an very stupid decision when you really think about it, folks. Or maybe an continuation of the 90s Spider-Man animated series, like X-Men '98, or heck an continuation of The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon series instead, people. Or do another Spider-Man cartoon show focusing on Peter Parker as a college student, like in the 80s Spider-Man cartoon series, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, instead of having be in high school again and maybe using both of Spidey's lesser-known adversaries and supporting characters, kinda like in Beware the Batman. Or do an animation adaptation of Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man comics instead, people!

Is it bad idc if it fails, because i am hoping for spider man 98 way more now, the original idea was amazing but it changed to not be canon and i felt like i didnt really need to watch it but i was hoping for good comic stories, but i would rather have the spider man 98 animation over the designs they have right now
