The "what's up man, we're doing judo" caught me off guard
I'm building my Ippon Seoi Nage system with Kouchi Makikomi, Osoto Gari, and Soto Makikomi in Aiyotsu and working on a Koga-style split hip system in Kenkayotsu. I have gotten a ton from your videos, and your videos explaining some of what Ono does with his positioning and gripping have been very helpful for me as I develop my gripping game. My Seoi is one I developed when I was young and is right in between a classic standing and a split hip. I step deep and my back step lifts but no where near as deep as like a Koga/Stevens/Abe style. I really love Uchimata and can do it either-handed (I'm very ambidextrous but my legs are 100% interchangeable from years of playing soccer) but I'm seeing that this Seoi system may be better for competition success. I'm too old to go anywhere with my judo, but I really enjoy learning.

Sensei, I trained with you a couple months before COVID hit and learned a lot from you. To this day I keep watching your videos even though I moved to London. Best judo content. Keep it up 👏🏽🙏🏽

Have you always done ippon seoi nage wrong? We've practiced ippon seoi nage a lot lately. We have a guy who's like 2 heads shorter than me and it's incredibly hard to throw him in free movement correctly because of that squatting. You have to go so low when there's a big height difference. It's not so fun for him either, he basically doesn't do any squat and still there's the risk of the opponent just towering over him instead of standing on toes or losing legs.
