I would love to see studies comparing these effects based on whether or not they are caffeine adapted. I usually see a big benefit from caffeine if I haven't taken it for a long time, but the more I build a tolerance to it the more it has detrimental effects for me.

I will cover some on the health effects of caffeine on hearth health with and without caffeine adaptation, but these studies were all done in people who were regular consumers of caffeine.

I quit coffee about a year ago. I've learned to live with the pooling of adenosine that hits about 2pm and found ways of boasting my energy without. A whole lemon and blueberry (plus munkfruit) smoothie, and just positive thinking. Then I can hit the gym like a maniac later around 6 or 7. I'm dosing with salt an hour ahead, too. I suspect that we weren't designed or evolved for caffeine. So far so good with this theory.

Why did you decide to quit, Darren?
@darrenbraynard40052 жыл бұрын
The drug effects (headaches, hyper activeness, etc.) made me want to try avoiding it and I learned that it was blocking a natural metabolic process.

I don't want to stop drinking coffee... I think I am just gonna change my genes instead 😅

I enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning but often do a half-caf. Caffeine easily has me bouncing off the walls and I've never been accused of not having enough energy!

Similarly, I’ve cut my caffeine consumption significantly. I hear you on the energy, Ariel.

Nic, what's your take on resveratrol, and all of the controversy surrounding it lately?
@Physionic2 жыл бұрын
I haven't kept up with it, honestly. What is the controversy?

@@Physionic David Sinclair, and other longevity guru's, are big believers. Other researchers say that the science just isn't there. Might be a good topic for you to explore.

Interesting. Thanks for putting it on my radar, KJ.

@@Physionic I think you should make a video or two and weigh-in on the issue. I'd like to get your takes, also it's a bit of a hot issue, so you'd be likely to get some views $$$

As much as I'd love to, and I will - I'm working 10-12 hour days, and working 7 days a week, so I can't add more to my plate, unfortunately.

Like always very interesting. How to determine, if one is a slow or fast metabolizer? Would a fast metabolizer also reduce blood alcohol levels faster? I had read somewhere that p450 is involved in alcohol breakdown?
@Physionic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Just go back one video in the series and it'll supply you with ways of finding out (other than a genetic test). You're right in making that association to the gene, because it is a P450 enzyme that helps metabolize alcohol; however, it is a different type of P450 enzyme originating from a different gene (CYP1A2 vs CYP2E1).

What study is being referenced? Are they looking at both rs762551 & rs2472297 or just one? I’m AA & CC
@Physionic2 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard, this was based on three studies. If you look up the words "study 46", "study 47", or "study 48" on the channel, you'll find the detailed analyses and links to the studies.
