OK I honestly think that I've heard this more times than I can remember and this is the first time that I actually really understand it. And furthermore I can reproduce it in my mind when I mindsurf a wave. This video should be mandatory in surfschools! Thanks heaps Kale!

Excellent explanation. Thank you. I've been surfing for 15 years but never paid much attention to my body's form on a wave when doing turns. I would always just sort of wing it if I could and do what I think would be right. I will definitely be putting your teachings into practice from now on. Howzit from South Africa!

Your tutorials are spot on, but i might add a sugestion. Use your local skatepark. Any ramp, or skate bowl will teach you about compression and extension. You have to "pump" to get speed. Its why i picked it up so fast. All those years of skating paid off for surfing

Hi Kale. Great videos and thanks for helping the surfing community. Just on compression/extension, would you say you're looking for more pressure under your feet during compression turns rather than just gliding through the turn? And your feet are 'chasing' the board during extension.
@KalesBroccoli4 жыл бұрын
Barry Grivec yesh the pressure transfers all the way through to the board 😁😁
@clemfandango80874 жыл бұрын
Amazing video struggled for years with the snap motion at top of wave. Are you pushing down with your heel into the water to cut back or simply letting the board slide over the water as you turn. Crazy question - but as I put pressure with foot at top of wave I stall and cannot cutback as well. Have the drive up the wave until I try to swing round. Foot placement at top of wave is tricky. Thanks again. 👍🏻

That last clip of your friend Nick pumping, thats exactly where I'm trying to reach. That last little wave looked perfect to learn how to pump. Right now I'm using a 7' 3'' board (I guess) on my surf school. Do you think I should change to another smaller board to maneuver and pump?? BIG THANKS!

David GA yeah sure! Smaller board might be a bit easier but depends on your ability and weight
