I almost did similar. I was doing a new workout and planning to stick with it for a month but, on my 5th workout, I had the thought "I'm not actually getting stronger on pull-ups but weaker." I decided to ignore that thought and just do the workout- and after 7 trips around the world- I was stronger! Sometimes the mind gets in the way of the body's abilities. Great one Antranik!

So glad you liked it Kram! It is so easy to get lost in the weeds... this is actually one of the reasons why having a training log is so good too, looking back you could see how far you've come in so little time to put things into perspective when you feel like you're not making "progress" for a few sessions... it's all part of the journey!

Hey Antranik! do you have any videos on rep speed or could you maybe make a short showing the correct rep speeds?
@AntranikDotOrg
@AntranikDotOrg Жыл бұрын
I don't but I've written a bit about it in the past. It's basically most effective to perform the concentric phase (contraction phase) as "explosively" as possible. Moving yourself (or any load) as fast as possible produces better strength gains than doing it slowly on purpose/artificially.

I'm very slowly creeping up in number of reps on my dips, pushups and pullups. But it is as you said, my form is improving. My dips are a lot lower, my pushups are more like pseudo-planche pushups and I do more pullups with a straight body and very close to getting chest to bar. My mind-body connection is a lot better too. My ego may not be overly satisfied, but screw that, I'm doing fine.

Very true, especially if you do exercises on rings There are just so many variables that you may not notice changing, which increase the intensity of your exercise. Just taking dips as an example, if your rings hang 5mm wider apart, if you go 5mm further down, if you increase your RTO degree by 5°, if you lean forward slightly more than usual, your rep count might get cut in half. But you're still progressing

Absolutely on point! Sometimes we increase the intensity without even realizing it (e.g., turning the rings out as much as possible... and that turn-out is increasing in range!)

Love it. I am stuck at 3x7 pull ups but as you said I keep doing then and they get easier. Eventually that will get to 3x8. Congrats on your progress though. +50lbs is great progress with similar reps wow.

Found this channel after doing a few different BW workout plans, experienced injuries and difficulty from pushing too hard, then switched to the RR and learned a lot from your channel, adopted a more patient mindset. Thank you for making this video as it gives one the ability to see past that *number* one chases and look at the other factors that motivate one to keep reaching goals over time.

YES! The numbers are important but patience and then even more patience is super important, especially when nursing an injury and getting back into the groove of things.
