I've grown to fucking hate politics because internet is oversaturated with it. It's everywhere and it's about people arguing about their opinions where all sides basically say "I'm right because I say so or some rando on internet said". I agree wholeheartedly and I'm at the point where I actually just want to get off youtube but i can't because it's kinda addictive. I've already deactivated my Facebook and pretty much left the cesspool of reddit and barely use Twitch. And I never had Insta, Snapchat, Twitter, Tiktok and Discord in the first place and never will. Social media and youtube just feels preachy and toxic. I feel like im having people lecture me on life and how to be a "good person" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ And yeah, I've grown from my cringy "anti sjw" days but the left wing side are still really annoying. I actually have way more left wing beliefs but i just cant stand people like Hasan, Ethan, Norah, Nick etc etc etc Its not just youtube though. Reddit and Facebook has become very echochambery and other social media platforms (New word i made up). People I interact with in person regardless of race, gender, political beliefs and sexual orientation just seem more chill, friendly, not as easily offended and civil. Social media and youtube is a cesspool. Most people online seem very on edge, preachy and easily offended

KZbin actively punishes people for being genuinely creative and entertaining. The only thing left that really keeps me on KZbin is discovering cool indie music artists and obscure music genres. I also like the horror community like horror movie reviewers, horror novel reviewers, some true crime stuff, etc.

There's a couple things I miss about older YT: 1. The more DIY feel to it: A lot of my favorite vids were just the KZbinr talking into a camera, being a normal dude, and giving his opinions on things. No fancy lighting, no clever edits, just a dude rambling about stuff. Length: While it's nice that the 10 minute cutoff is no longer a thing, I feel it hurts creators when they make either a documentary-length vid on some d list celebrity's drama, or a 4 hr essay on a movie that's a fourth of it's length.

I agree, the biggest problem with not just youtube but the entertainment industry in general is that today, a lot of people are not original with the content they are making, say what you want about edgy KZbin but at least people were more creative and had balls to do the funniest things ever. Today you have three options to choose from: drama channel, political streamer, or tik toker. All of which have no where near the amount of creativity past entertainment had.

Feels like KZbin should’ve leaned in more into their own platform’s content instead of acquiescing to the trend of short form content when TikTok blew up. KZbin Shorts isn’t all bad though, I think it’s a great way to reward popular creators with ways to further promote their (hopefully good) content. KZbin has to get better at punishing people who use bots because Shorts with a quarter million likes and 300 comments is bs.
