It'd be more about the intimidation factor of having a fully adult dragon, and while maeleys is powerful and fast, vhagar is just severely more intimidating to a lord, be it from the sheer size alone, or the history of the dragon literally burning half the continent to conquer it. I still think Storms End would go with the greens due to this.

I think the Baratheons are actually the Durrandons under another name. Except for Orys himself, every other Baratheon can trace thier lineage directly back to the Storm Kings thanks to Argella. And besides that the House also uses Argella's house sigil and house words as thier own, symbolisms that Orys himself did not have as a bastard Targaryen.

The difference is Robert is just a regular guy, a little lord of Storm's End, who is a womeniser and already has a known bast*rd... But Rhaegar on the other hand is the Crown Prince of the Realm, and not only that. Rhaenys originally was described as having silver hair in The Princess and the Queen. It was changed in later works, presumably because it suggests that the "magic" Baratheon hair can, in certain circumstances, be supplanted. Personally, I like Rhaenys with silver hair --- not only does is explain why everyone in the south hasn't become black haired (as you might expect if Baratheon hair always won out, given the way noble families intermarry) but it also leaves just a little doubt as to how unbiased/ logical Ned's reasoning is.

Rheanys having white hair in HoTD, doesn’t make Ned’s scene, reading the Baratheon traits dumb, in GoT. If you notice, he only reads all male Baratheon names. Inferring, the dark hair trait, is consistent in the male Baratheons. Shireen, Stannis Baratheon’s daughter, has blonde hair in the tv show GoT. Personally, I think they should’ve Prince Valarr’d, Rheanys’ hair, in HoTD. Gave her a darker shade of blonde with a platinum streak. But, I get what they were trying to do. Keep the emphasizes on the Strong boys hair color and not soo much skin tone. Since, most quarter Black and three quarter white people, tend to look white, anyway.
