i think this solidifies for me why KRC is my favourite! Her acting and choices of delivery really sells glindas inner conflict and how she's trying so hard to keep it together - trying to convince both the people of oz and herself. Her gestures and facial expressions are artful!

ali mauzey played the role with such a kind of cartoonish, childlike quality that i love. something in the way she sings, “whoooo wouldn’t be happier…?” gets me every. time. louise dearman sings the sh** out of the song! k.r.c. is always fabulous. brittney johnson is amazing (she also sings the sh** out of the song!) megan hilty gives all kinds of diva glinda! la chenoweth… only one original. ❤️

Louise Dearman's lip quivering as she whispers "cost" and "lost" is exquisite. The way she conveys someone just buckling under the lies she has to proliferate and her eyes betraying her at every smile is just incredible to watch. I'm so obsessed.

Brittney really captures that emotion of pushing through while barely holding it together and navigating herself during the song. You really see and hear her Glinda find a way to believe herself by the end.

I could watch these all day. This is one of the most moving moments in the production for me. Yesterday I listened to Ariana Grande's interview on the Sentimental Men podcast, and the way she spoke about her connection to Glinda- in this song specifically- gave me goosebumps. Glinda thrives on all the love and validation that she receives from the people of Oz, but in this moment, as she's processing this deep personal loss and trauma, she basically has to perform for the Ozians and be this character that they need and rely on her to be. The performances in this video gave me chills, but I can't imagine any other Glinda can relate to this exact struggle on the scale that Ariana Grande can. I cannot wait to see her take on Thank Goodness.

Thank Goodness to me is the songs that separates the good Glinda’s from the GREAT Glinda’s. The amount of emotion and thought process they have to convey all while never actually talking about it is amazing, this is literally Glinda having a conversation with herself wondering if everything she has done is worth what she has gotten all while speaking to the people of Oz and having them trust her. For me Megan Hilty’s Glinda is the definitive version for Wicked she does all the small intricacies with such amazing detail
@Gabriel-f1x7u5 ай бұрын
last year there was an original production of Wicked in Brazil, and during the thank goodness, after the fyero leaves, Glinda moves away from the people and starts walking alone around the stage singing, as if she were actually talking to herself, there is even a part in which she sits on the floor wanting to cry, while singing about being happy. This whole new version of the scene's music is much more melancholic than the original version, which is more fun, in fact I think it's something they can bring to the film, since Estephen Shuartz worked on this new montage simultaneously with the production of the film, and I included in this version some elements from the film, such as Glinda's dress being pink, a friend of hers wearing a skirt, Madame Morrible's secretary... and in my opinion, the thank goodness scene works on stage, but on cinema, if they don't give more dynamism, it can get quite tiring (sorry for any mistakes, I wrote it with the help of Google translate hahaha)

@@Gabriel-f1x7u I would love for them to kind of mess around with the idea of time during this number for the movie, show Glinda is having a million thoughts a second all while trying to convince herself this is what she wanted. I’m sure they’ve found a way to make it very cinematic

I like Chenoweth the best who I think is the one who plays Glinda closest to a grounded human being while even playing homage to Billie Burke in the Wizard of Oz film, adopting some of her vocal trills and mannerisms while making Glinda her own. KRC kind of overacts and projects Glinda's inner-conflict with this song way too much, as if she doesn't trust the audience to understand it.
