A lot of people were skeptical and expecting them to fail. Saying that Wicked will not translate well to film, and tons of controversies before the premiere. This movie was also halted due to writers strike, it was originally supposed to be released on 2019 but then Covid happened, then 2023 but then the strike happened. So many pent up feelings needed to be released, i imagine

My school screened this and while I get (and agree) that huge commercial productions shouldn’t be the main focus for the Academy this is SUCH a cinematic achievement. Anyone who worked on this in any capacity probably feels like they WON. Almost three hours long and it FLEW by on a broom. I love movie musicals now, like I get it.

i teared up when cynthia talked about the oz dust and her finding ways to figure out elphaba’s dance style, what emotion that led her to put the hat back on and wanting to be seen. cynthia is the perfect cast for this cuz she is super detailed with everything and she ahs also changed the way i viewed elphaba, she shared it in las cultaristas podcast that elphaba is not this always sad and angry girl, she has been green her whole life, being scold at by her father, being looked down and etc so its not something new to her. she is different than any other elphaba ive seen. thank you cynthia for taking such a good care of elphaba

I just went to see this movie today. And it was a little bit above what I expected. The most beautiful movie musical I’ve seen on the big screen or streaming since The Greatest Showman. Although one minor glitch I can say is the cinematography can use more color grading.
